Here is a photographer from this area, who took pictures of Lake Erie (Ontario, Canada) during this past month. Lake Erie is shallow, and high winds whip up waves.

Here is one of his photos. He wrote that sometimes he just put his camera down and said "What in hell did I just see?"

The beauty and perfection of snowflakes never ceases to amaze.
Amazing macro-photography of individual snowflakes
Photographer Alexey Kljatov takes incredible close-up photos of snowflakes in his backyard in Moscow.
"I capture snowflakes on the open balcony of my house, mostly on glass surface, lighted by an LED flashlight from the opposite side of the glass, and sometimes in natural light, using dark woolen fabrics as background."

BradPeterson was up at Snowbasin and got these shots this afternoon. It takes a thin layer of shear to get these clouds to form.

this is a place called Hartside , its much nicer on a clearer day but you can still see the mountains of the lake district in the distance.
Also it is a brilliant road on a motorbike especially if there are no police around;)

Photo of the Day – Many of you will not know how rollers got their name but it is derived from the spectacular aerial acrobatics they perform during courtship.
These 'rocking and rolling' displays, as they are sometimes referred to, are usually accompanied by raucous calls and displays of color that could easily be described as an avian version of a firework display. One of the most colorful of these rockets of the sky is this Lilac-breasted Roller, as is evident in the photo below by Rich Lindie.
Found throughout large parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, this wonderful bird brings color to many an African sky and seems like the perfect choice for this year's final bird of the day.
Wishing you all a very happy New Year from the Rockjumper team, we'd like to say "Roll on the New Year"!

The English translation from Japanese on the park's website:
An art made of material fir and maple grown in Hokkaido. Roll a ball from the top of the xylophone and enjoy the tone.
You can find a vending machine placed at the top the xylophone and purchase a ball cost you 300 JPY for one. Play with the ball as many times you want and bring it back home as a souvenir. Don't forget the ball next time you come back to play with xylophone.
The keyboard is simply placed and set on the pedestal to make the sound better. In case the keyboard comes off or fall down, please return it to the original position in consideration for the next users.
This service takes a rest for xylophone protection on a rainy day.
