They may have wondered how real those movies depicted what actually happened.

Our German, Greek and Italian political parties MERA25 launched their European Election campaign on Nakba Day, May 15, in Athens, at the event ‘European Nakba: How the EU is covering up the genocide’.

The event featured key speeches from Irish MEP Clare Daly, MeRA25 Greece leader Yanis Varoufakis, MeRA25 Greece candidate Faizal Zacharia El Masr, Jewish peace activist Iris Hefets and candidates of the MERA25 political parties in Germany (Karin De Rigo) and Italy (Elettra Stamboulis and Federico Dolce) were also present for the event.

DiEM25 was in attendance in Athens for the official launch of the European Elections campaign of MERA25 Germany, MERA25 Italy, and MeRA25 Greece. Ahead of the event, speakers gathered at Eleftheria Square at 19:00 local time, for a demonstration against the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli regime.

May 15 served as a rallying cry for those who dream of an independent, peaceful, just, and sustainable Europe, where every citizen can lead a dignified life.

On June 9, at the EU elections, let's make our governments pay at the ballot box. Vote for us so that we can call them out and unmask their hypocrisy.

Former ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese joined Mehdi to discuss the implications of this request, with Ocampo calling it a “game-changer."

Albanese, who previously issued a report calling Israel’s war on Gaza a genocide, reminded viewers that although this is the first time the ICC is taking major action against an Israeli leader, it does not necessarily mark the first time Israel has committed war crimes.

“There were opportunities and obligations to investigate the [Israel’s] war crimes and crimes against humanity … before the 7th of October. The failure we are under is testament to the lack of effectiveness of that system,” Albanese said. “We can turn the tides now, and this is the challenge of all member states.”
