Yemen’s Houthis claim attacks on British destroyer, 2 ships
SANAA, Yemen
Yemen’s Houthi group claimed Sunday to have targeted a British destroyer in the Red Sea and two ships in the Arabian Sea.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said their fighters attacked the British destroyer Diamond in the Red Sea with ballistic missiles “in response to the Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.”
At least 274 people were killed and nearly 700 others injured in Israeli bombardment of the camp on Saturday, according to local health authorities.
The group said its fighters also targeted Nordeney and MSC Tavishi ships in the Arabian Sea with naval and ballistic missiles and drones.
The Houthis have been targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, where more than 37,000 people have been killed in a deadly Israeli offensive since last October following a Hamas attack.
With tensions escalating due to US-UK airstrikes against Houthi sites in Yemen, the group declared it considered all American and British ships to be legitimate military targets.
The Red Sea is one of the world's most frequently used sea routes for oil and fuel shipments.

It's true. Here's Axios, just a few minutes ago:
Israeli minister Benny Gantz announces his party's exit from Netanyahu's coalition
[...this is just an extract from the article]
Why it matters:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition, which still holds a 64-member majority in the Knesset, won't fall apart but it will likely be destabilized. Gantz's exit is also likely to exacerbate the political crisis in Israel as the war in Gaza continues and as hostage and ceasefire negotiations are ongoing.
- Gantz, who was a member of Netanyahu's war cabinet for eight months, is seen by the Biden administration and many other Western and Arab governments as a moderate. His departure is likely to increase U.S. and international pressure on Netanyahu.
- With Gantz's withdrawal, Netanyahu's government will be dominated even more by the ultranationalist ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, who will likely increase pressure on the prime minister to take an even more hardline approach to the war in Gaza, take steps against the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and escalate attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The intrigue:
Gantz was supposed to announce his departure on Saturday but postponed it due to the operation to rescue four Israeli hostages who were held by Hamas in Gaza.
- Gantz knew in advance about the operation but told his staff not to change the plans for the announcement until the operation was over in order not to risk raising suspicion among Hamas commanders.
- On Saturday night, Netanyahu issued a statement calling on Gantz to stay in the government, but Gantz's aides made clear there was no change in plans other than a temporary postponement.
- On Sunday, shortly before Gantz's statement, Netanyahu announced he is convening a meeting of the war cabinet and a meeting of the security cabinet for Sunday evening. Gantz and other cabinet members from his party said they won't attend.

Israel, with U.S. assistance, launched a so-called “hostage rescue” mission in Gaza.
Four Israeli hostages were rescued.
Three others, including an American citizen, were killed.
Along with more than 200 Palestinian civilians.
The IDF force took casualties, with at least one senior commander being killed.
In any normal society, this operation would be classified as a failure, and investigations launched.
In Zionist Israel, they are celebrating.
A question for Biden: what role did the U.S. military/intelligence community play in facilitating the murder of an American citizen at the hands of the IDF.
And is it acceptable practice for the U.S. to support military operations that kill hundreds of civilians to recover hostages whose release could have been secured simply by implementing a viable ceasefire?

Speaking on ABC’s This Week program, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan refrained from confirming whether the United States provided intelligence support to Israel or commented on how the operation might impact Hamas's acceptance of a ceasefire agreement.
"The fact is that the whole world is looking to Hamas to say 'yes'" he stated. "For all those people, for all these months who have been calling for a ceasefire, now is the moment."
Sullivan also noted that the US lacks precise figures on the number of Palestinians killed in the attack, while Gaza’s health ministry reported 274 Palestinian fatalities.
When asked whether Washington would endorse similar future Israeli raids even if they resulted in high numbers of Palestinian civilian casualties, Sullivan replied, "The United States will support Israel in taking steps to try to rescue hostages."

A Palestinian mother vividly recalls the horrors of Israeli occupation forces storming their home, where her children were mercilessly gunned down before her eyes in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp.
This horrific narrative resonates with numerous testimonies asserting that soldiers indiscriminately shot and killed anyone they encountered during the assault. The attack resulted in the savage slaughter of over 270 Palestinians as the Israeli forces intensified their relentless shelling of the camp after their presence was detected.

A new documentary, Where Olive Trees Weep, explores Palestinian loss, trauma and the fight for justice over decades of life under Israeli occupation. We speak with two people featured in the film: Ashira Darwish, a Palestinian journalist and therapist, and Dr. Gabor Maté, an acclaimed Hungarian Canadian physician whose work focuses on addiction and trauma.
"I was only 16 when I was taken," says Darwish, describing the first time she was beaten and arrested by Israeli soldiers, which motivated her to become a journalist in order to both document and fight against the occupation. "What's happening in Palestine is devastating, and what's happening in the West Bank and Gaza has been going on for 75 years."
Maté, a Holocaust survivor born in Hungary, recounts his own trauma as a child and says "that same horror" is being inflicted on Palestinian children today.
