'Israel' will come to end if it wages war on Lebanon: Hezbollah MP
The Israeli occupation entity will come to an end if it opts for a large-scale war against Lebanon, underlined Mohammad Raad, the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in the Lebanese parliament, on Sunday.
Raad added that "Israel's" objectives in Gaza have failed due to the steadfastness of the people of the Strip, the heroism of its Resistance fighters, and the support provided by entities in the Axis of Resistance.
His remarks came a day after an Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile struck a playground in the town, which is made up entirely of Druze Syrians, killing at least 12 civilians, including children, and wounding at least a dozen others.
"Israel" was quick to pin the blame on Hezbollah and claimed that the Lebanese group targeted the town with an "Iranian rocket".
Following the Golan incident, Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that "Israel will not let this murderous attack go unanswered and Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for it, a price it has not paid before," according to a statement from his office.
Hezbollah denied Saturday that it targeted Majdal Shams, a Druze town where many residents have rejected Israeli nationality since the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights in 1967.
In a statement, the Lebanese Resistance group said it "categorically denies the allegations reported by certain enemy media and various media platforms concerning the targeting of Majdal Shams."
"The Islamic Resistance has no connection to this incident," it affirmed.
Later, Axios cited an American official as saying Hezbollah officials told the UN that the Golan Heights incident was the result of an Israeli interceptor missile hitting the playground in Majdal Shams.
Golan people will not be deceived by Israeli false claims
Commenting on the Majdal Shams incident, the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that the Israeli occupation entity committed a "heinous crime" in Majdal Shams and then blamed the Lebanese Resistance "as part of attempts to escalate the situation in the region."
The statement said Damascus condemns the ongoing massacres committed daily by the Israeli occupation and holds it responsible for the dangerous escalation of the situation throughout the region.
It also affirmed that the people in the occupied Golan, who have refused for decades to give up their Syrian identity, will not be deceived by the occupation's false claims that the Lebanese Resistance bombed Majdal Shams, especially since the region's people have been and continue to be an integral part of resisting the occupier and its aggressive policies.
It is noteworthy that "Israel" has been occupying the Golan Heights since 1967 and refuses to recognize Syrian sovereignty over it, despite the United Nations' repeated assertion that it is part of Syrian territory and that Israeli actions in it have no legitimacy.
'Israel' fabricating pretexts to fight all Resistance movements: Arslan
In a related context, Talal Arslan, the head of the Lebanese Democratic Party (LDP) and former member of Parliament, stressed that the people of the Golan have been paying a hefty price for 52 years due to the Israeli occupation.
He told Al Mayadeen on Sunday that the Israeli project always focuses on turning religious sects into ethnic groups, which is completely rejected, stressing the need for the region's peoples to confront the destructive machine of the Israeli occupation.
The Lebanese politician noted that the Israeli occupation fabricates pretexts to fight all Resistance movements in Palestine, Lebanon, and the region.
Arslan pointed out that the Israeli occupation has no regard for the lives of children and women, adding that, if it were capable of attacking Lebanon, it would not wait for any pretexts.
On his part, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib warned that any major Israeli attack on Lebanon would lead to a regional war.
Bou Habib also confirmed that Lebanon has requested the United States to urge "Israel" to exercise restraint amid recent tensions.
In the same vein, Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, the Jaafari Mufti in Lebanon, affirmed unity with the Druze residents of Majdal Shams against a common enemy.
He made it clear that the Resistance has nothing to do with the strike on the town, affirming that "this is a settled matter."

Majdal Shams residents mourn martyrs, reject any Israeli presence
Residents of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan held Saturday a funeral ceremony for the victims of the Israeli attack that targeted a football field in the town.
An Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile struck a playground in the town, which is made up entirely of Druze Syrians, killing at least 12 civilians, including children, and wounding at least a dozen others.
"Israel" was quick to pin the blame on Hezbollah and claimed that the Lebanese group targeted the town with an "Iranian rocket".
The Israeli Channel 13 reported that residents of Majdal Shams attacked members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party who attended the funeral.
Meanwhile, the Israeli news website Walla mentioned that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich was met with rejection and protests upon his arrival in the town.
"Get out of here. We don't want you here, you killer," the residents told Smotrich, accusing the Israeli Minister of making use of their children's blood.
Following the Golan incident, Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that "Israel will not let this murderous attack go unanswered and Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for it, a price it has not paid before," according to a statement from his office.

Syrian Druze residents of the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights expel Israeli Finance Minister and other members of the Likud (Netanyahu’s party) from the funeral of the 12 youths who were killed after a missile fell on a soccer field.
The Israeli media and army have described the victims as Israeli civilians, but the residents of Majdal Shams are Syrian Druze living under occupation since the Israeli army occupied the Golan Heights in 1967.
Residents of the town have refused Israeli citizenship and continue to view themselves as Syrians.

Syria attributes deadly Golan strike to Israel, denounces attempts to expand war
Damascus said Tel Aviv is using the incident to ignite the region, warning that the people of the Golan Heights ‘will not be fooled’
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on 28 July that Israel is trying to ignite the region by blaming Hezbollah for the strike in the Syrian Druze town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights a day earlier.
“As part of attempts to escalate the situation in the region, Israeli occupation entity committed a heinous crime on Saturday in Majdal Shams town and then held the Lebanese National Resistance accountable for this crime,” the Syrian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
“Syria condemns the continued massacres committed by Israeli occupation entity on a daily basis and holds it responsible for the dangerous escalation of the situation in the whole region,” it added.
“People in occupied Golan, who have refused for decades to give up their Syrian Arab identity, will not be fooled by the occupation's false accusations that Lebanese national resistance shelled Majdal Shams, especially since people in Syrian Golan were and still are an integral part of resisting the occupier and its aggressive policies that violate land and identity.”
Twelve Syrian children were killed when a missile fell on a soccer field in Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights on Saturday night. Israel immediately blamed Hezbollah and rejected the Lebanese resistance group’s statement on 27 July, categorically denying its involvement in the incident.
Extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, along with members of the Likud, were expelled by the local residents of Majdal Shams while trying to attend the funeral on 28 July.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that it was an Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile that fell on the field, according to an Al-Arabi TV correspondent who spoke with a member of Israel’s ambulance service, Magen David Adom.
A military expert cited by Sputnik said, “the missile that exploded in Majdal Shams was 100 percent Israeli, and we are faced with two possibilities: either a malfunction in the performance of the Israeli air defense systems, or a deliberate launch to achieve specific goals.”
Tel Aviv has described the victims as Israeli civilians. Yet the residents of Majdal Shams are Syrian Druze living under occupation since the illegal occupation of the Golan Heights during the 1967 war.
Residents of the town have refused Israeli citizenship and continue to view themselves as Syrians. The Druze community in Majdal Shams called on Israel not to politicize the incident. However, Israeli officials have used it to reinforce calls for launching a broader war against Lebanon.
Israeli jets launched several strikes against Lebanon’s southern and eastern regions afterward, yet Israeli officials have vowed further escalation.
“Hezbollah will not escape punishment for this incident” and will “pay a heavy price,” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday.
The Majdal Shams incident has raised concerns that an all-out war between Hezbollah and Israel is imminent.

Nicaragua condemns Israel, says USA should disappear if Palestine can’t have a state
Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega blasted Western support for Israel in its war on Gaza and asked, if the Palestinian people are not allowed to have a state, why does the United States itself have the right to exist?
Ortega accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, and noted that the Western governments arming Tel Aviv are complicit in its crimes.
The Nicaraguan president made these remarks at an event in Managua honoring the 45th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution on July 19. He was joined by Palestinian revolutionary Leila Khaled, who denounced imperialism and neocolonialism.
Israel’s far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has boasted that his country has prevented the creation of a Palestinian state for decades. He vowed that one will never exist.
Columbia University historian Rashid Khalidi has shown how the United States has been even more extreme than the Israeli regime in its diehard opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In April, the US used its veto power in the Security Council to block Palestine from being admitted as a full UN member state.
Nicaragua’s President Ortega condemned the West for its oppression of the Palestinians, stating in his speech on July 19 (emphasis added):
“We see how cruel the imperialists are with a people who, according to agreements in international organizations, at the United Nations, has the right to a state: the Palestinian state.
…
[The Palestinians are] a people that is being subjected to genocide where children are being killed every day, where young people are being killed every day.
And European governments, and the US government, meeting in NATO, decide every day to give [Israel] more and more weapons, so they keep bombing the Palestinian people. And the politicians governing the state of Israel say clearly that they want the Palestinian state to disappear. They say it without any shame.
The law demands it. It was an agreement in the United Nations, signed by all the countries of the world, that there have to be two states: Israel and Palestine. And what do the authorities of Israel say? That the Palestinian state must not exist, that it must disappear, because it is a threat for Israel.
If we are going along with that philosophy, we would have to request the disappearance of the state of the United States. The first that should disappear is that state, which is humanity’s biggest criminal. And not only for going around killing peoples, occupying countries, as has happened in Nicaragua. Nicaragua [was] invaded by the Yankees”.
Nicaragua’s Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) has always maintained a close friendship with the Palestinian struggle against Western-backed Israeli colonialism.
In the 1960s and ’70s, FSLN guerillas fought to free their country from a brutal right-wing military dictatorship, run by the Somoza dynasty, which was propped up by the US government.
During this period of armed struggle, Sandinistas trained with Palestinian revolutionaries, who sought to free their own country from a US-backed colonial regime and military occupation.
These shared ties of solidarity have continued into the 21st century. Nicaragua’s Sandinista government has strongly supported Palestine.
Both Nicaragua and Palestine are members of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
Nicaragua has formally joined South Africa’s ongoing case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that charges Israel with genocide in Gaza.
In the ICJ, the Sandinista government likewise accused Germany of being complicit in Israel’s genocide, because Berlin has provided Tel Aviv with 29.7% of its arms shipments.
weapons exports arms supplies Israel US Germany Italy
In the 1980s, Nicaragua took the US to the ICJ over the CIA’s support for far-right Contra death squads that terrorized Nicaraguan civilians. The Hague ruled in Nicaragua’s favor in 1986, determining that Washington had repeatedly violated international law. To this day, however, the US has refused the Court’s order that it pay reparations.
At the July 19 anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution, Palestinian revolutionary Leila Khaled said she was “proud that you all [Nicaraguans] have elected a leadership that has fought imperialism, colonialism, that has triumphed, and that is triumphing today in the path toward development”.
“I am proud of this leadership”, Khaled said, “which has denounced the killers of children and babies before the International Court of Justice, with Germany, which is giving its support to the killers of children and babies”.
Khaled highlighted “the revolution and resistance that we have in common” between the Palestinian and Nicaraguan peoples.
Khaled is a historical leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a revolutionary socialist group that has fought for decades against Israel’s illegal occupation and colonialism.
In a statement, the PFLP congratulated Nicaragua on the 45th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution and stressed their “shared goals against imperialism, enemy of the peoples and enemy of humanity”.
“The US and its imperialist policy have failed in many countries”, said the PFLP, emphasizing that the US empire has “not been able to impose their colonialist project” in West Asia and Latin America, due to resistance by progressive forces.
Nicaragua has two parks dedicated to Palestine. In 2016, it created the Park of the State of Palestine. In 2024, Nicaragua renamed a main road in Managua after Gaza, and it opened a Palestine Park in the center of the capital.

Jordan’s king dissolves parliament ahead of new elections
AMMAN, Jordan
Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday dissolved the country’s lower house of parliament ahead of new parliamentary elections in September.
The move was announced in a royal court issued by the monarch.
Under the Constitution, parliamentary elections are held within four months preceding the end of the parliament’s term, which is set to end in November.
New elections are scheduled to take place on September 10. The vote will be held under a new election law, which allocates 41 seats in the 138-seat assembly for parties.
Jordan has a bicameral parliament consisting of the Senate, appointed by the king, and an elected lower chamber known as the House of Representatives.

Jordan's King Abdullah dissolves parliament ahead of elections
Elections on September 10 will be the first since a new law was passed two years ago that allows some candidates to run for parliament across districts
King Abdullah of Jordan dissolved the country's parliament on Thursday, a ceremonial step before parliamentary elections in September.
The king holds all significant powers in Jordan, which is home to 10 million people. The current parliament started its four-year cycle in December 2020.
Royal Palace officials said the parliament was dissolved as of Thursday, in line with a decree issued by the king.
The elections on September 10 will be the first since a new law was passed two years ago that allows some candidates to run for parliament across districts, if they belong to political parties.
The change was seen widely as an attempt by the king to encourage the formation of more political parties, without affecting his powers.
In a speech to mark his silver jubilee in June, the king pledged to “pursue comprehensive modernisation”.
Turnout in the last parliamentary election in 2020 was 30 per cent, compared with 36 per cent in 2016, according to official figures.
The 130-member parliament comprises mostly deputies who belong to tribes that were present in what became the British Protectorate of Transjordan in 1921.
The population of Jordan has since been increased by arrivals of refugees and migrants, mainly from Palestine but also Iraq, Syria and other countries.
For decades, a main role for the Hashemite monarchy has been maintaining the balance between the various ethnic and tribal groups in the country.
