One year ago this thread was innocently hijacked by Pris and myself while discussing the subject matter of this thread as it related to choice. The discussion quickly took on a life of it's own and evolved into what you see today.
The debate can be made whether this has been 'good' or 'bad' for the thread but for me, what made it special is how spontaneously it started. There was no agenda, just the joy of being. Who knows, perhaps the cats were an escape from dog-ma? ;)
Life has it's dogma (fixed attention) but thankfully there is Catilosophy, otherwise it would be nothing but a dog eat dog world.

Of course dog-ma never gives up without a fight.

My Spanish cats used to have a "fight club" every morning. Every morning, after they had eaten, they would wrestle and tussle and chase each other all over the house and outside. They weren't being hostile to each other. They were just digging being cats :)
Lmao! My mom has three strays I brang her from my back yard (oh yeah, huge sucker!), 2 females and 1 male...every night around 6 one of the females actively searches out the other female to go bananas on. I swear the poor victim owes the bully money or something. :P

Lmao too cute! Very funny, the cat yodeling had me dying!...and a little worried for dudes face :)
OMG! mine are INSANE!! I just recently "acquired" a beautiful pointed ragdoll male named Ming; a great cat. my Thor (Theodore -- pics of him posted somewhere way early in this thread climbing the curtains and Christmas tree) likes to play really rough - so much so that hands on play with him is impossible ... he seems to have trained Ming in the rough play arts and almost every morning around 4:00 to 5:00 am my house turns into a warzone!
Cats running around jumping on each other from high places, fighting ON the piano (and my cheap piano has no keyboard cover), up and down the stairs, knocking over chairs, it goes on and on. Not to mention all the weird cat noises they make while doing this. All play though, as far as I can tell, no hissing or growling ever (which I think would the point where it gets "serious" -- there was a little of that when we first got Ming, but they seem to decent friends now).
When we first started witnessing it, I was a bit concerned, but it seems just like a couple teenage boys wrestling hard in the halls at school or on the play field - you know the ones where you had to look twice to see if it was a real fight or not -- that's how my cats play. And if their food bowls start to go empty, some sort of instincts begin to kick and it gets rougher, lol. They are both big cats too, Ming is about 12lbs and Thor is about 15 lbs. Thor did run around crazy at 4:00 am a little before we got Ming, but now it's been taken to the second power.
I should get some video of the action!
I'll weigh in here. Back in the 70's I was given two Siamese siblings, quite young. At that time I had my little one in daycare as I headed out to work all day in in the home of a trance psychic (they were rare in the world at that time).
These two Siamese adolescents would tear around my apartment without ever once touching the floor. It was absolutely amazing to see them chase each other along the wall of curtains, to top of the wall-long bookcase, a leap over to the piano, another leap over to the couch back - around and around and around they'd go. I suspected they were so highly strung they did not do well alone, and would calm down if they had people presence during the day.
One Saturday morning I groggily surfaced from deep sleep to the sound of my toilet flushing. Didn't take long for me to realize the repeated flushing was "not normal", so I got up to check. My really wonderful bright-souled ready-for-any-mischief preschool son was trying to flush the kittens down the toilet. He was belly laughing at their expressions. For myself, I had quite a different reaction to it.
Next week an absolutely lovely couple came to my apartment, at my invitation, to see if they'd like a pair of maniac Siamese. Instantly the twitty cats went and climbed on their laps, and I realized I'd only been a stepping-stone along the pathway to their true human partners. This couple were two of the most loving, adorable men I'd ever met, and even as I write this, my heart is tugged towards them, wherever they may be.
They were overjoyed to have my Siamese. My little boy was sorely disappointed.
Whatcha doooooooing?

Our family had a pet rat once. It came from a university via a brother since the fellow would not kill the rat after the experiments.
He was intelligent, friendly, fun-loving, and all-round companionable. He lived in a large wooden box in the kitchen, with the wire lid permanently bent back open. He came and went. He played hide-and-seek with us. Everyone in the family liked him. He'd come out of his home at times and tug at my father's pant leg wanting to be lifted up.
He died nestled in my father's lap from what we think was a heart attack. He was more than a tad overweight. He was a bright spot in our lives. His name was Rat.
