Putin emphasizes only well-trained reservists should be sent to front line
At Putin’s request, the defense chief specified that currently 218,000 out of 300,000 mobilized reservists "are undergoing training and practicing interoperability at practice ranges" and 82,000 men were operating in the area of the special military operation in Ukraine
NOVO-OGAROVO, October 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu that only well-trained mobilized reservists should be sent to the front line in the special military operation in Ukraine.
"Actually speaking, 41,000 [fighters] are operating as part of combat units while all the rest are still undergoing combat training in one way or another," Putin said, after listening to the defense chief’s report.
The defense chief answered in the affirmative. "Yes. We are paying special attention to that. This is because it is necessary to send only well-trained and well-equipped fighters," Shoigu told the head of state.
Putin agreed with Shoigu, after listening to the defense chief’s report. "Excellent," Putin said. "I absolutely agree. This is how this should be done," the Russian leader said.
At Putin’s request, the defense chief specified that currently 218,000 out of 300,000 mobilized reservists "are undergoing training and practicing interoperability at practice ranges" and 82,000 men were operating in the area of the special military operation in Ukraine.
"Of these 82,000 [fighters], 41,000 men are operating as part of troop units," Shoigu said.
The defense chief reported to the head of state that 300,000 men had been called up in Russia for the special military operation. Therefore, the mobilization assignment had been fulfilled and no additional assignments were planned. Russian troops will be further augmented only through volunteers and applicants for military service under contract, Shoigu said.
Here's Alexander Mercouris with a detailed analysis of what was indeed a great speech. (Another one!)
(The whole transcript is in record in my post #6165.)
After his regular daily summary of military events on the ground, Mercouris begins discussing Putin's presentation at 14:32.

It really was - there is no one articulating the complexities of the world stage currently than Putin - on the world stage....
Well, he's the new leader of the Free World.
Few anywhere might dare say that, but most of the world's population, represented by a majority of nations in the global south and east, would quietly and strongly agree.
There's no politician I know of in the collective west who would be anywhere near capable of making a speech like that. (Tulsi Gabbard, just maybe, but this isn't her style at all and while she's very articulate, she'd have to have most of it written for her.)
I am not in favor of posting videos showing live fighting in the Ukraine but I know of at least 2 videos that show
how RF forces captured and/or inspected 2 Dutch YPR vehicles. I am not in the Netherlands myself and do
not daily read, or listen to, MSM news. But maybe some Dutchies here can confirm:
To my knowledge the Netherlands never 'officially' sent armored personnel carriers over there.
There was already a fuzz over sending Stinger missiles and launchers ...
Wow. Absolutely massive protest in Prague, Czech Republic today demanding an end to anti-Russia sanctions.
From a military air assets perspective Syria is quite busy. I've recently been making a point of watching every video MonkeyWorx makes. He tracks all the military air assets he can. That's surely not all of them, but it's a lot.
Of particular interest to me, has been the US and British signals intelligence gathering aircraft. They are predictably busy making flights out of UK and Germany to regularly fly over the Moldova and Poland borders and less regularly over various other parts of the Ukraine theatre.
From the same MonkeyWorx videos it's clear that the second 'hottest' area of activity for that classification of air assets, as well of the similarly distributed heavy-lift aircraft, is SYRIA. SIGINT flights go direct from UK and Germany to Syria, fly border routs and other courses and return to base, every day. It's so busy there that it's almost as if Syria was on the border of Ukraine.
That's a heads up for anyone who is into scanning the cyber chatter. There are some military flight tracks between Russia and both Syria and Saudi Arabia.
In yesterday's UK column, too, there was a section about activities in Syria. The main message seems to be that Israel is becoming increasingly desperate in the region.
