The Qanon posts, and associated US political analysis

Thank you for your kind message Edina. it is much appreciated. There is always room for more genuine kindness in this conflicted world!

I'm certain that YOU have considered my concerns, though I'm not sure some of the hotheads on the forum have! :lol: No problem--I suppose this whole process is quite necessary. I just get tired of male posturing very quickly, and there's been a lot of that going on. If it weren't for you and the other grounded women posting on the Q thread, I doubt I would be able to go there at all.

I am working 20 hours a week now, and it's not what I pictured for myself at age 70, but I'm grateful to be able to bring in some extra income, because Social Security just doesn't pay all the bills. But I don't have time to focus on all the news, and have to be selective.

But I'm actually glad that the forum is covering the Q material because I do recognize it's importance, but politics has never been my strong suit, and I have been on Avalon for as long as I have because it deals with subjects that the mainstream usually ignores, such as ET & psychic phenomena, the Illuminati and the NWO, forbidden archeology, etc.-- subjects I have some personal experience with and interest in. I imagine there are other forums where Q and related political info is the ONLY subject matter being discussed. It does bother me that so much of Avalon is now devoted to it, but it will run its course in time, and I'm OK with that, so long as Avalon remains intact and available for ongoing conspiracy research on other topics, and retains its unique value.

I know the recent ruckus was largely because of Dennis's posts. I don't have an opinion one way or the other as to who was right in that debate, but I appreciate anyone who tries to post an alternate view from the majority on the Q thread because of the "winning team" mentality there, as though there was some kind of coup taking place on Avalon of Q supporters versus other, long standing Avalon members.

Similar problems have developed a few times before, such as when Atticus was the new big deal on the forum, and it got very ugly before it just all blew up in everyone's face. I avoided that thread, just as I did the ones about Corey Goode when he was on the forum. It happened again with the Simon Parkes threads, and I got in the middle of that one somehow, which is not an experience I care to repeat. There was a ruckus for awhile about channeled information that actually turned out very well, and I was happy to have been involved with that, for the most part.

Some threads just accumulate a certain energy that is toxic for me, and it's not totally because of the information being presented itself, but the way in which it's being discussed. That has been the case for me with the Q thread as well. (Sometimes the problems arise on such threads due to hidden motivations that people have for the stances they take, and sometimes there are shills that sneak in to make things more difficult. It can get messy, so old members who have been through the forum wars can tend to get cautious.)

There is still, thankfully, room on Avalon for other very fascinating subjects to be discussed, though less so since the Q thread began taking off. And it's not really that there's not room, it's that new members are going to be attracted here because of the general vibe of the forum overall, and old members will leave if they lose interest. If the main subject being discussed is political, it's not going to attract new people as much who have breaking info on other subjects of import.

That makes me sad, because Avalon has been very high on the list of conspiracy theory forums for a long time, and we've done some amazing work on a variety of very important issues other than mainly political ones.

I guess that about covers it, and being another intuitive, I imagine you already understood what my concerns have been, but it felt good to express them anyway.

Finally, sending these same wishes that you sent to me back to you, with appreciation:

Your concerns are valid, understandable and have actually been heard, and considered.

There are many benefits to following this thread, and a person doesn't have to support the Q movement to gain value from reading this thread.
Most notably, is that the posts track emerging current events ahead of other sources. And offers resource links for people who are interested in following these current events to inform and educate themselves in a very time efficient way. At least, this is how it's worked out for me.

If a person wants to debate the creditability of the whole Q movement, though. Then, it's helpful if they have read the posts enough to have a constructive, intelligent and thoughtful conversation about it.

This thread has morphed over the months from one of debating and considering the validity of the Q posts to one of cooperation and harmonious sharing of information that emerges from the Q posts. People can look at this information and decide what's valid and useful for them and what's not.

I don't think anyone was registering their complaints about people who find fault don't read the Q posts are directed at you. To me, it's obvious you have tried to stayed informed.
It's just that your heart is in a different direction. An equally important direction. (As my heart guides me in this direction.)

What happens in other threads, I am not aware of, because I have limited time, so I prioritize my focus on where my heart guides me.
And as I said, this thread allows me to do this in a very time and energy efficient way.

I just want to thank you again for sharing your thoughts and your concerns.
And wish you the very best on the path your heart, intuition and inner guidance takes you.

New Geological Evidence Suggests Earth's Magnetic Poles Could Flip at Any Time

For the past few years, scientists have waffled between warning that the Earth's magnetic poles could flip at any time (with disastrous consequences) and assuring the public that everything's fine. Either way, the South Atlantic Anomaly (a shifting 'hole' in Earth's magnetic field) is still growing, and Earth's overall magnetic field continues to weaken. Previously, it was thought that the lead-up to a pole reversal (and the switch back to 'normal') would take thousands of years, but scientists investigating a cave in the Guizhou Province of China have found further evidence that the Earth's magnetic field can flip back and forth relatively quickly—over the course of just a century.

The last major pole reversal happened about 780,000 years ago and a second, minor one occurred about 41,000 years ago, which gives scientists a potential benchmark of how often these kinds of magnetic flips can happen. In the meantime, the poles have done a good amount of wandering during 'excursions,' periods where the poles drift around the Earth slightly. These changes are hard to predict, but we do know that they're caused by activity within the Earth, specifically having to do with the planet's iron core: the outer core has a lot of liquid metal flowing around it, which creates electrical currents, and the spin of the Earth shapes these currents into a kind of warped bubble of magnetism that surrounds the Earth. The major problem with a pole reversal is that the Earth's magnetic field may become significantly weaker, which means the planet will be vulnerable to solar radiation that can cause havoc for our electronic devices.

One of the things scientists have taken for granted is that the process of a pole reversal would be very slow and gradual, allowing us to deal with the problem before it became cataclysmic. However, a stalagmite found in the aforementioned cave in China shows that pole reversals can happen relatively quickly. The rock itself is composed partly of magnetite, which can become magnetized by the planet's magnetic field, allowing geologists to use it as a record of Earth's magnetic history. According to the geological 'records' held within this stalagmite, there was a very sudden magnetic reversal 98,000 years ago that only lasted about a hundred years.

Diplomacy in the Age of Trump

Donald Trump may be the most important figure in American history journalists despise but can’t understand. Sun Tzu, the Chinese general and author of The Art of War, wouldn't have it any other way.

As the world's foremost military strategist, Sun Tzu can be helpful in evaluating the very quality that baffles the media: Trump is a gamesman. It is a venerable talent practiced for centuries on the battlefield as well as blackjack tables, treaty rooms, and the Oval Office.

Trumpology

As an observer and occasional confidante of Trump’s, I wouldn’t second guess the media if they didn’t consistently underestimate him.

This is a massive problem for people like me whose life’s work is devoted to global leadership. We are highly skeptical of political propaganda that passes for news coverage today and we want real answers to why Trump goes out of his way to annoy the president of a friendly neighbor? Why does he suggest the media fakes the news? Why does he think America is going to be great again? If you are a globalist but don’t know how to read Trump, your compass may get stuck in the wrong direction as you try to figure these things out. That is the challenge I am addressing in this column.

To be fair, Trump’s rhetoric gets a share of the blame. Media bias and the impact of social media pushing people into the end zone of their political sympathies get the rest. Convene a focus group of two, a Texan in the same room as a New Yorker, and one shouts “MAGA” while the other shrugs, “he’s not my president.” In reality, as I hope to show, we should be looking at Trump as a very complicated president, more poker player than politician.

In full disclosure, if you are a strategy freak like me, you also get a kick out of trying to figure him out.

Before he became a reality TV star and the President of the most powerful country in the world, Trump was rebuilding his real estate empire after a nasty recession in the early 90s. I was Publisher of Forbes Magazine, that arbiter of the nation’s wealth. We attended football matches together, dined on my company yacht, and I would fly chief executives of major companies to his parties at Mar a Lago, his Palm Beach home (a 1997 New Yorker profile nicely captures it).

What did I observe during those occasions? Titans of the universe making nasty comments about Trump before he arrived; then, as he entered the room he turns on the charm, flatters and acknowledges their great achievements, places a great big bear hug around their shoulders, winking at me as he closed deal after deal with those who made the fatal mistake of underestimating him.

In Trump’s world, you are either a friend or an opponent, and his playbook is apparent to anyone willing to watch objectively from the sidelines.

The Bluff

"Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." — Sun Tzu

In 1997, Trump called me looking for a sit down with Forbes to talk about our upcoming Forbes 400 Richest Americans issue. His big move was to secure a spot on the list. It would silence critics who claimed he didn’t have the financial stake to compete. A few weeks later he was at the Forbes townhouse sitting on the living room couch and starting things off by telling the editors how rich he was. He hit them with his favorite gambit, making a stratospheric claim — that his wealth was north of $3 billion.

This was about the time the journalists lost the battle.

The editors clearly weren’t biting. They are a skeptical lot by nature, and it was undeniable, how could he have dug himself out of the hole in such a short time since declaring business bankruptcy? But he said it was so and PriceWaterhouseCoopers backed him up. Editors hate to be wrong a lot more than they enjoy being partially right, so they hedged and gave his net worth a huge haircut. That’ll show him.

But they put him on the Forbes 400.

What they did not know is that Trump cared only that he was on the list. It meant he could parlay that single fact into a sterling balance sheet and he moved swiftly to buy trophy properties in a down market. Soon he was back, larger than life, richer than ever, plotting his next big move. We now know what it was.

Bluff with bravado, incredible timing and audacity, and voila, you have the art of the comeback.

The ‘Tell’
With Trump, his reflex for diagnosing his opponent’s state of mind during a negotiation is as deft as a surgeon feeling your pulse.

Trump can read your personal balance sheet, what you need to win, what makes you happy or sad or popular or humiliated, and knows these things before you do.

If you ever go mano a mano with Trump, keep an eye on the “tell.” In practical terms, pay attention to his actions and who he deploys to get things done, not necessarily his pronouncements.

To use an old fishing expression, Trumps throws a lot of chum in the water. We have all witnessed him saying one thing and doing another, or his people will do yet a different thing before he says something else. It can seem very confusing and the media calls it “chaos.” To me, it’s just code for keeping your opponent off balance, and the code breaker is Sun Tzu:

“The general is skillful in attack whose opponent does not know what to defend, and he is skillful in defense whose opponent does not know what to attack.”

Head Games

President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico could have simply ignored Trump.
Instead, he let him get under his skin with the comment “‘they will pay for the border wall.” Now Nieto faces a difficult set of outcomes: capitulation, which is political suicide, or an economic enemy in America, which is unacceptable.

How did this impressive young politician and leader of such a great country find himself playing ‘rope a dope’ with an untested American president? This favorite Trump gambit is, again, right out of Sun Tzu:

“If your opponent is temperamental, irritate him. Then build him a golden bridge to retreat across.”

Nieto will play for time most likely because he is on an uncomfortable ledge. He is practically imploring Trump to offer Mexico a way back and Trump, of course, knows this. There will be a solution and it will have two terms, America will look like a winner but in a way that makes sense for both countries. That’s how a dealmaker thinks. Your first move is just an opening feint, but your opponent mistakes it for war and overreacts.

If you find this too crazy to imagine, you haven’t followed Trump’s life story. Read how Trump the minor developer became Trump the superhero while launching his reputation and restoring a historic landmark in New York’s Central Park at a time the city was falling apart, and his relationship with New York’s powerful Mayor Koch was frosty as the Wollman Ice Rink.

Trump L’oeil
There is an old George Burns routine, “it’s too bad the folks who really understand what the country needs are too busy cutting hair and driving taxis to do anything about it.”

If Trump seems bipolar at times, it is a job requirement. He has to make peace short term with the populist urges that propelled him into office like George Burns' barbers and cab drivers, only now it's factory workers in Saginaw and murder rates in Chicago. But he also has to conjure up some very adept long-term moves that will help him run the most powerful country in the world. This is pure cognitive dissonance and, to make it work, Trump needs to pull off a visual illusion worthy of Houdini.

For those not schooled in American history, Trump’s populism, some call it America First nationalism, is a very old Democrat tune. FDR turned it into his campaign theme in 1932: “These unhappy times call for the building of plans that…put their faith once more in the forgotten man at the bottom of the economic pyramid.” It took the start of WWII to get us worrying again about the rest of the world.

While the populist sentiment is very important to Trump’s American heartland voters, it is of much lesser consequence than the other mandate, which also has a two-year time stamp. It is the Miracle-Gro for our economy and is the reason I am optimistic that under Trump, America will become more global and more outwardly focused.

The Scorecard
What gets you into office doesn’t keep you there, as politicians find out to their — but no one else’s — surprise.

Trump knows the metric on which he will be judged, and the one he judges himself on, will be growth and that means firing up global trade, no matter what anyone calls it.

But he can’t do it like the establishment elites that came before. He owes his constituents the pleasure of demeaning the treaties and trade agreements and punching a few of the key partners in the nose. After which he will have the political cover and the leverage to launch a robust, if stealth, internationalism, one that can propel us in a way that is transformative. That is my thesis based on watching Trump over the years, recognizing at heart he is a centrist (and a former Democrat), an ardent businessman who uses common sense as his litmus test.

But with an economy as big as ours, he faces the same choice as Warren Buffett does in growing a company as large as Berkshire Hathaway. Buffett says he has to go ‘elephant hunting’ to find growth because nothing less moves the needle.

So who are America’s elephants?

The Trump Doctrine

“In the midst of chaos there is opportunity.” ― Sun Tzu

The elephants in the room are America’s global trading partners whose economies are growing, in particular, China and India, then Brazil and Mexico, and finally, Africa and the Middle East. There is one wild card; it has Vladimir Putin’s face on it. Since stability is a key factor in the plan, Russia will play a central role, particularly with Iran and Syria. Trump's timing seems to be put out the fires first on the domestic front, get the spoilers under control, the Middle East and North Korea, then start the engines.

The cornerstone of the global pivot is to get all the big, rich friends we can. Tell them to show us respect, and yes, pay their fair share. But we can’t afford the luxury of too many enemies, economic or otherwise, as the past few decades have proved. These are great, complex global geopolitical issues that dance around the mind of this President. I believe he will sort the things we can win from the things that are hard if not impossible to do in a four-year term. He is a builder first and foremost, and he knows his ambition will be carefully disciplined by time and budget.

Driving higher and broader global growth is the only choice Trump has if he is to grow a nearly $20 trillion economy. Global commerce buys him the kind of recovery that even journalists would be inclined to applaud. But it has to happen soon. Which is why you are likely to see him jumpstart things just as soon as the final terms are set by the great negotiator.

Metternich called it the "balance of power" and the same I believe will be said of the "Trump Doctrine," only I suspect it will be tilted slightly in America's favor.

If you don't know me by now, you never will do. And you should, by now, too. You (and you're not the only one) seem to have lost quite some balance.

1. Passion is commendable. It gets things done, and encourages creative expression that can motivate and educate others, and bring about change in a world that needs it.
2. Being snide and unpleasant achieves nothing except alienation and division. You, and a few others, are in danger of causing some other members, who don't really want to post here for fear or being ridiculed, not to like you very much. Do think about that.

I have a right, as a member, to state my view that the Q phenomenon is a kind of cult. I stand by that. It meets many of the criteria. We can start a new thread about this... if you like. My point, which I've now made a small handful of times in 6 months, was argued concisely, with just a few bulletpoints, and I believe not disrespectfully.

If I get to be wrong, and positive things come out of this that are demonstrable, then I'll say so. But, remember: you may be wrong, too.

Your rather barbed remark about the most viewed threads list was also beneath you and 100% uncalled for. I have no knowledge about that, I never refer to that, the mods have no control over that, and even Ilie Pandia (who is a world-class vBulletin expert) can't edit the forum software that generates it. You're implying some kind of covert control over the stats. Please apologize and take that remark back.

There are existing threads that discuss the anomalies in the forum's search scripts. Paul can say more about that (he's far better qualified than I am, as a software developer of some considerable experience ability). Ilie would, too, if he was here.

I know one thing. It won't succeed if we sit around mumbling to ourselves that all our critical analysis boxes are not ticked. That process of intellectual inertia is part of the problem, not the solution. I would really like a thread about Q cultism. I have witnessed some in cybernetics in relation to Q that I would be willing to add to it.

We, the Avalon mods, are of two minds regarding Q. Most of the mods, apparently including Bill as best as I can tell, are skeptical of Q and find elements of distasteful group think and unpleasant dismissal of dissension in the Q work, here on Avalon and elsewhere. I have been and continue to participate in the Q research with considerable interest and delight.

That's fine ... we chuckle at our variances.

Bill and the majority of the mods have and may well continue to moderate what problems they see. As a quite biased participant, I will smile at the usual complex diversity of humanity and continue my best efforts, both supporting this forum and supporting the research of myself and others, which at present includes the research of many into the clues dropped by Q. I will recuse myself from moderating Q threads, at least whenever my evident bias is leading me to different conclusions that my fellow moderators.

Regarding the matter of the "Most Viewed (last 30 days)" list, I fixed that last night as posted here, and see the matter as no more than a minor administrative configuration detail.

I've said it before. Q reminds me very much of the modern day "Deep Throat" of Watergate fame. The journalists cracked the code and got the story. We had to read and study that book, "All the President's Men" in Civics back in the 70's.

What's amusing is I was bored to tears with the whole thing as a teenager. Now, I enjoy the unfolding.

While I don't think Q is a cult, I do think there are ignorant people out there who may be relying on it like relying on any other spiritual or political guru. I'm just not one of them and I honestly don't see that mindset on this forum.

I do see it in John Q. Public, but that's to be expected, unfortunately.

I come to this thread for one reason. To get the DROPS, man. I'm grateful that Kiwi is kind enough to relay them so we don't have to go wading through those other (hard to decipher for me) forums. That's why I come here.

There's been so many posts including my own past posts as to whether Q is true, false, a cult, patriots, etc. I don't bother posting my misgivings about Q nor the aspects of same that I like anymore because I accept that we will probably Never know who or what it is and if it's good guys or something more sinister that I shudder to think about.

Regarding separate threads, I don't understand why Onawah doesn't make an ongoing Environmental alert thread. That would be valuable, but sandwiching them here on this thread, I don't get. Likewise, since the belief that Q is a cult is as ongoing and parallel to the belief that it is for real, I think a separate thread in that regard would be more valuable than trashing or pulling this good thread apart.

As far as Bill's calling out Turiya, he's correct that Turiya can be sarcastic and as the creator of this mind-blowing forum Bill deserves more respect above the rest. That being said I feel it was all prompted by Leahy's post which is a shame because (and this is very prejudicial on my part) I don't feel Leahy gives a crap about Q one way or the other. It's like after almost a year of Q posts and no interest in the topic he was doing a drive-by on the forum and was just in the mood to poke a hole so came up with a microchip and tried to make it a macrocosm.
So bad vibes between Bill and Turiya shouldn't have emerged from such. Turiya is so well spoken and puts a lot of effort into the 'Great Awakening' if you believe in such and because of his efforts you don't have to go fishing around on mainstream if you don't want to.

We shouldn't bicker because we're all at fault anyhow. We've all had computers for almost 20 years. Those of us with an awareness of a shadow government/ruling class had it 20 years ago. We've taken forever to even utter a peep about it. I'm guilty as sin for just wanting my dose of intrigue to allay the tedium of being a working stiff who should have actualized herself more.

Just my two cents. I'm here for the Drops, man. The intrigue...the 'I wonder what Q is up to today', the scheme, the plan, the development (?), the strategem, etc.

I stopped writing my speculations at this point as they don't add anything and I defer to what the 'good book' cautions - 'keep thine own counsel'.

If you don't know me by now, you never will do. And you should, by now, too. You (and you're not the only one) seem to have lost quite some balance.

1. Passion is commendable. It gets things done, and encourages creative expression that can motivate and educate others, and bring about change in a world that needs it.
2. Being snide and unpleasant achieves nothing except alienation and division. You, and a few others, are in danger of causing some other members, who don't really want to post here for fear or being ridiculed, not to like you very much. Do think about that.

I have a right, as a member, to state my view that the Q phenomenon is a kind of cult. I stand by that. It meets many of the criteria. We can start a new thread about this... if you like. My point, which I've now made a small handful of times in 6 months, was argued concisely, with just a few bulletpoints, and I believe not disrespectfully.

If I get to be wrong, and positive things come out of this that are demonstrable, then I'll say so. But, remember: you may be wrong, too.

Your rather barbed remark about the most viewed threads list was also beneath you and 100% uncalled for. I have no knowledge about that, I never refer to that, the mods have no control over that, and even Ilie Pandia (who is a world-class vBulletin expert) can't edit the forum software that generates it. You're implying some kind of covert control over the stats. Please apologize and take that remark back.

It does bother me that so much of Avalon is now devoted to it, but it will run its course in time, and I'm OK with that, so long as Avalon remains intact and available for ongoing conspiracy research on other topics, and retains its unique value.

I know the recent ruckus was largely because of Dennis's posts. I don't have an opinion one way or the other as to who was right in that debate, but I appreciate anyone who tries to post an alternate view from the majority on the Q thread because of the "winning team" mentality there, as though there was some kind of coup taking place on Avalon of Q supporters versus other, long standing Avalon members.

Similar problems have developed a few times before, such as when Atticus was the new big deal on the forum, and it got very ugly before it just all blew up in everyone's face. I avoided that thread, just as I did the ones about Corey Goode when he was on the forum. It happened again with the Simon Parkes threads, and I got in the middle of that one somehow, which is not an experience I care to repeat. There was a ruckus for awhile about channeled information that actually turned out very well, and I was happy to have been involved with that, for the most part.

Some threads just accumulate a certain energy that is toxic for me, and it's not totally because of the information being presented itself, but the way in which it's being discussed. That has been the case for me with the Q thread as well. (Sometimes the problems arise on such threads due to hidden motivations that people have for the stances they take, and sometimes there are shills that sneak in to make things more difficult. It can get messy, so old members who have been through the forum wars can tend to get cautious.)

There is still, thankfully, room on Avalon for other very fascinating subjects to be discussed, though less so since the Q thread began taking off. And it's not really that there's not room, it's that new members are going to be attracted here because of the general vibe of the forum overall, and old members will leave if they lose interest. If the main subject being discussed is political, it's not going to attract new people as much who have breaking info on other subjects of import.

That makes me sad, because Avalon has been very high on the list of conspiracy theory forums for a long time, and we've done some amazing work on a variety of very important issues other than mainly political ones.

I guess that about covers it, and being another intuitive, I imagine you already understood what my concerns have been, but it felt good to express them anyway.

Finally, sending these same wishes that you sent to me back to you, with appreciation:

There are many benefits to following this thread, and a person doesn't have to support the Q movement to gain value from reading this thread.
Most notably, is that the posts track emerging current events ahead of other sources. And offers resource links for people who are interested in following these current events to inform and educate themselves in a very time efficient way. At least, this is how it's worked out for me.

If a person wants to debate the creditability of the whole Q movement, though. Then, it's helpful if they have read the posts enough to have a constructive, intelligent and thoughtful conversation about it.

This thread has morphed over the months from one of debating and considering the validity of the Q posts to one of cooperation and harmonious sharing of information that emerges from the Q posts. People can look at this information and decide what's valid and useful for them and what's not.

I don't think anyone was registering their complaints about people who find fault don't read the Q posts are directed at you. To me, it's obvious you have tried to stayed informed.
It's just that your heart is in a different direction. An equally important direction. (As my heart guides me in this direction.)

What happens in other threads, I am not aware of, because I have limited time, so I prioritize my focus on where my heart guides me.
And as I said, this thread allows me to do this in a very time and energy efficient way.

I think in full disclosure, I ought to admit, I was one of the people who joined the forum because of the Charles threads.

The conversations that happened in those threads were invigorating and stimulating, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.

I learned a lot!!!!

I went to Atticus1 when it was opened and continued to learn.

I continue to read Atticus now, he writes as Cockney Translater at his own site. He hasn't written in a while.

He has a unique voice, not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. But I enjoy his writing style.

And I learn much from reading his words. He makes me think.

Every day, I consider things I have learned from him, as I am taking in what is happening in the world right now.

For example, in one Cockney Translater post he shared some experiences about something he called a Consortium, and mentioned Nancy Pelosi.

I consider this as I am looking at the various Foundations set up by people like the Clintons, McCain, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi and their foundations aren't even the tip of the iceberg.


For another example, I keep the mention of the ones who went to China, in a side pocket of my mind, as I am observing and researching what is happening in the world.

In many ways, he helped prepare the ground for what I am doing in regard to the Q posts.

I understand many people here on Avalon would disagree with me, but I appreciate the experience. For me, it was not a failure.

As for the others you mentioned, I never got involved in those threads.

There's so much to learn.... LOL... I'm never bored and wish I had much more time to do more than I do now.

As stated in my recent post here, there have been threads featuring opposing views, and I'm surprised your memory is that short, Helene.
To fill in the blanks a bit more about what happened with those--though posts were based on legitimate concerns and based on documented information, they were belittled and trashed by pro-Trump members whose comments were rude, confrontational and designed to silence rather than encourage discussion, some of the posts so lengthy I was suspecting we have a shill in our midst who was being paid for working full time to create more division here.
So been there, done that, and until the bad behavior is reined in sufficiently by the Mods, I won't be making much of an attempt like that again.
Turiya's recent post doesn't give me a lot of reason to hope.
But kudos to Bill, Paul and Joe for making a dent at least, hopefully.
A few times I have posted information on this thread just to give the offenders a taste of their own medicine, because they had gone for so long without being questioned at all.

Well, I can fix bits some of the time. They are rather simple minded (though there's lots of them, so they can still gang up on and overwhelm even the best geeks brain.)

But when dealing with humans, myself included, especially when faced with topics that invite very different, conflicting, answers depending on how you look at them ... all I can do is chuckle and carry on, doing what I figure is best from my perspective, and leaving room for others to do the same, while doing what I can to keep the discussion healthy and diverse on the forum, aware that these are sometimes seemingly conflicting goals, so not worrying too much when I don't know what better to do.

An afternoon thunderstorm might have sent the dog I had earlier in this life cowering in the corner, but it's energizing to many of us, and nothing much in particular to those who have been through a couple of major hurricanes.
