Scott Ritter: Hamas 'Laid Trap' for Israel as US Cannot Replenish Iron Dome Yesterday
Israel has demanded military aid from the US for its war with the Hamas movement. Former US Marine Corps intelligence officer and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter pointed out that the Pentagon's cupboard was bare and it was failing to meet recruiting targets.
The US cannot give Israel the arms it needs for a war with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran — or even maintain its own forces — says a military veteran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared war on the Hamas movement that rules in the besieged Gaza Strip in the wake of the surprise attack by several allied militant groups on October 7.
The incursion and subsequent skirmishes — including with Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas on Israel's northern border — has left almost 300 Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops dead with 200 more held captive in Gaza. around 1,000 Israeli civilians were also killed. That represents Israel's worst losses since its 1982 invasion of southern Lebanon.
Tel Aviv has called up some 350,000 IDF reservists and has bombed Gaza for almost two weeks in preparation for a ground offensive, which Economy Minister Nir Barkat said had been given the "green light" on Thursday. But that invasion has yet to materialise.
Former US Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter told Sputnik the IDF simply "can't go into Gaza."
"If they go into Gaza, they will be slaughtered by Hamas who has deliberately set this trap," Ritter stressed. "Hamas is waiting for them to come in. Hamas will kill them in large numbers."
Along with the risk of heavy casualties in Gaza, Israel is wary of Hezbollah's threat to launch a major attack from the north if the IDF goes in.
"Israel cannot beat Hezbollah," Ritter argued. "There's a real likelihood that if Hezbollah comes in with everything they have, they will seize northern Israel in its totality, all the way up to the Sea of Galilee. Syria will recapture the Golan Heights, and there isn't anything Israel can do to stop it."
"Israel has exhausted its Iron Dome. They sent an emergency request to the United States for all of the Iron Dome ammunition we had," Ritter noted. But while "Israel's hoping to get several thousand rounds, maybe 10,000 rounds," all the US could offer was "360-some odd. That's all we have."

From The Moon of Alabama, today:
Netanyahu's Strategic Dilemma
Israel is a colonial settler state in permanent conflict with the suppressed natives.
It thought it could survive in that state, or even extend its settlements, by deterring opposing forces with its superior military.
Hamas has breached that deterrence myth by inflicting, in one day, more casualties in Israel than it had experienced in any previous wars.
Natanyahu is under pressure to restore the deterrence, to again provide the Zionists with a feeling of superiority.
He can not do that.
Any land attack in Gaza means urban warfare in an already destroyed city with large underground facilities. During the taking of Bakhmut the Wagener forces had in total some 40,000 casualties (dead and wounded). The other side had more than 70,000. What price would the IDF have to pay to 'destroy Hamas'?
The other factor is of course Hizbullah and other resistance groups, which may well attack Israel from the north and various other directions. Hizbullah has loudly said it would do so should the IDF enter Gaza. It has some 100,000 missiles - more than enough to exhaust Israel's air defenses. Its longest reach missiles can attack any major city within Israel. There have already been daily fire exchanges at the norther border.
The 2006 war in Lebanon has shown that Hizbullah is dug in and very able to defend itself. It has since gained more experience by fighting ISIS in Syria. Neither U.S. air force attacks nor a land force invasion can hinder Hizbullah from firing its missiles.
(Syria, as well as Iran, will not intervene in the war unless they are directly attacked.)
Netanyahu must attack Gaza to restore deterrence. He can not attack Gaza because the urban warfare would cause large Israeli casualties. He can not attack Gaza because Hizbullah would then destroy the myth of the superior settler state even more than Hamas has done so far.
Israel, with the help of the U.S., has tried to push the population of Gaza into Egypt. From Egypt's standpoint that would be a humanitarian solution, at least as long as others pay for it. But it would cause a serious strategic problem. Resistance by Hamas and others against Israel would continue indefinitely, but Egypt would be held responsible for it. It can not and will not take on that burden.
Netanyahu's next idea was to starve Gaza. But the world will not let him do that. At least not beyond a certain point. Even the UN Secretary General has visited the Rafah crossing. Other global organizations, like the WHO and ASEAN, have spoken up. Pictures of starving people will make it impossible for the west to support that 'solution'.
Meanwhile Hamas fighters will continue to sit in their tunnels, ready to defend their land, and likely with enough provisions to hold out for months.
Israeli settlers, with the support of the IDF, are rampaging through the West Bank. They are killing more Palestinians and further enrage the global public against their deeds. This will escalate.
Israel's decision making is paralyzed. It will for now continue to talk of a ground invasion but will not launch one. It will also continue to starve Gaza.
But something will soon break. At any minute there might be a new large atrocity in Gaza or a pogrom in the West Bank. Any miscalculation in the north could launch that front into a hot war. Hizbullah could start to 'preemptively' invade Israeli proper.
But Israel's Jewish public is still demanding a war of revenge. It still needs the restoration of its deterrence and superiority.
But what if that turns out to be impossible to achieve?
Well. Then something else must change.
As Adam Shatz summarizes in the London Review of Books:
Vengeful Pathologies (archived)The inescapable truth is that Israel cannot extinguish Palestinian resistance by violence, any more than the Palestinians can win an Algerian-style liberation war: Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs are stuck with each other, unless Israel, the far stronger party, drives the Palestinians into exile for good. The only thing that can save the people of Israel and Palestine, and prevent another Nakba – a real possibility, while another Holocaust remains a traumatic hallucination – is a political solution that recognises both as equal citizens, and allows them to live in peace and freedom, whether in a single democratic state, two states, or a federation. So long as this solution is avoided, a continuing degradation, and an even greater catastrophe, are all but guaranteed.

The Met Police stated 10 people were arrested, some during scuffles at Trafalgar Square, later in the evening, following the conclusion of the rally. The Met also stated that five officers were injured during the protest.

The streets of Sydney, Brisbane and Perth turned into a sea of green, red, black and white as thousands took part in pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
In Sydney, attendees stretched from the steps of Town Hall along the tram tracks of George Street in the city's centre, chanting "free free Palestine" and "shame shame Albanese".
A number of speakers addressed the crowd including representatives from the Indigenous and Palestinian communities, Jenny Leong from the Greens NSW and Michelle Berkon from Jews Against the Occupation.
The march was given late approval on Friday as NSW Premier Chris Minns promised a "zero tolerance" approach to any violence or hate speech.
I am sure you got the "mirrors" metaphor in the subsequent quotes, and the uncanny identity of our current situation with exactly what Dante was allegorizing.
There was another "mirror" I had in mind using but not much is available about it. This perhaps is what split me off and made me a different kind of reflective, empathic individual than the other kids. Brief anecdote here.
These days we have a ton of NDE stories, but do they really stem from Robert Monroe?
No.
This is something that happened for a friend's birthday party. It was maybe the third or so movie I had ever seen in a theater; we were all very young. And so five or six little kids got tossed into this thing without any adult supervision. Adults used to sponge us off on anything they could, it was a technique, send the kids somewhere, so they could have personal time.
The catharsis was:
Beyond And Back is a 1978 documentary released by Sunn Classic Pictures that deals with the subject of near death experiences. This was one of the first movies to explore this subject and pose the question "Is there life after death".
You can watch it here on Top Documentary Films (which is an interesting site).
In modern terms, the thing is, of course, very lowly rated because it is so dry and pedantic.
I, personally, have not emerged from the 70s film making style. I like the slower pace and the fact the camera shot does not cut to a new angle for several minutes sometimes. Very steady. I love the melodrama of Chris Lee and BBC Hammer Horror even though the effects are so cheap they are nearly fake. Films like Suspiria, nearly anything that Dario Argento and the Goblins played in, that sort of thing. Beyond and Back, similarly, is at a technical level of "nothing" like those are.
One of the stories is about a young mother who attempts suicide in this manner:
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...342_SY445_.jpg
Her NDE is straight to hell where a group of hell denizens hold her face over--I think it was a well--and it was not literally a reflection, but it shows how her death caused suffering to her family members and deleted the future children and good experiences she was supposed to have. Very menacing. In essence, she chose life again and was revived.
It never left me mentally. Has nothing to do with religion, but, it does have to do with good and evil.
Death comes, and, when it does, I bet most of those Hamas fighters have a clear conscience--they might not literally get the Thousand Year Paradise, but they will probably generally be rid of ill effects.
I do not think this will be the case for many others of Israel or Ukraine, for example.
Slogans and beliefs won't help you. I don't know what it takes to inspire such personal reflection on their part because they are probably literally afraid of that more than anything. And it is just as bad on the civilian side. An ongoing identity crisis, largely from clinging to something false like Zionism. And it seems they would rather zip their head in a bag, than give pause for consideration, ever.
I don't take two steps without running Dante's entire program, so to speak. I keep doing it, and, yes, it has caused me anguish to have to discard what I think or believe, or what I was doing, but when you have to change something, it takes only a few days and you are over it.
I believe they are too mentally paralyzed with fear to even try.
I am not really angry at the opposite camp, but, sad at the failure and choice of evil destiny. It may seem angry to others, since, ultimately the last resort is force, but learning how to not strike out in anger is quintessential for improving one's state of being.
I feel compelled to express my personal larger picture understanding of this situation.
The enemy of all good Spirit incarnated as humanity - evil - operates under the modality of parasitism.
Parasitism employs a very simple, 2 step strategy;
1) Win the victim's trust while redirecting their threat identification defense to a third party
2) Betray and feed on the victim's life force
(3) Repeat)
At first the parasite gains access to the host's life force.
Later, when the parasite gains full control of the host, it not only continues to feed on their life force, but is also able to project its will through its host - amplifying its power and reach, and causing that host to itself act as a parasite amongst further potential victims
This causes the earlier host to appear clearly to the newer victims as if it is, itself, a parasite - when the very real truth is it still the true Spirit it always was, and not at all unworthy of Care.
For me as this concept relates to the present issue concerning Zionist Israel -
I see a Matryoshka nesting doll of parasitized groups of true Spirit; the Jewish people are one of those groups nearest to the core of the matter (the core here being the actual, Spirit-less, non-human, parasitic evil).
One nesting doll just a layer or so out from a subset of the Jewish people - modern-zionist-state-of-israel-jews - would be the Palestinian people, with Hamas being the most successfully parasitized amongst them.
Always evil tries to portray the battle lines being drawn on one axis, when in fact the true battle line is drawn a full 90 degrees off of that:
They tried to portray the battle within the english-speaking world as between left and right, when the true line was between top and bottom
They tried to portray there being a battle between men and women, when truly the line was between human and otherwise
And here they try to portray the line as being between Israel and Palestine, when truly the line is really the same as always; between the parasite and the True thing that the parasite forever salivates over; us. True Spirit.
This all comes to mind as I read this thread and see us hemming and hawing about who is forgetting what victim, and I say- forget none of them. They're all victims of this evil that we face. The Palestinian child. The Israeli rave-goer - she was doing all she knew how to do to shout for peace. The Israeli mandate-conscript - how was he not a victim of the same MK Ultra mind control that would have had every one of us believing whatever our own governments told us? The Hamas militant - at 20 and intentionally starved of truth in his city-prison all his life, how was he to know that attacking random Jewish civilians was exactly what the parasite wanted him to do?
It has come up a couple times with a good friend of mine recently the concept of the Jewish people being highly intellectual but also fairly cold blooded and calculating - and I have been reminded of my study of many recovered MK Ultra women - many of them had truly astonishing capabilities - full recall, remote viewing, various psychic abilities... all the while being fully mentally enslaved. As with many masonic activities, they do all things in a dual form, and MK Ultra is no exception - these ladies are survivors from the covert side of that program, and every one of us is being subjected to the overt side of the same, over the airwaves and through 'kulture'. It seems clear to me that the parasite inside the modern zionist state of israel subjects its population to perhaps the strongest implementation of the overt side of that program that exists on the planet.
I think that this time we are in is designed for us to best learn the truth of what things are, by learning what it is that they are not.
When we decide to identify the Hamas extremists, or the Jewish people, or even the zionist modern state of isreal as being the true source of the suffering, then we are doing exactly what the true evil wants.
Bokeb, your observations from many sides really details just how screwed up one small region can be by living in isolation and carrying on a tradition of hate, violence, and so called justice. Its almost like living in a depressed part of a major city here in America only there isn't rockets and grenades going off or tanks in the streets. But yet it is a way of life all it's own. It has its own idealoligy , it's own ecosystem, and it's own acceptance and non acceptance. I think most of us are praying for a peaceful resolution to all of this, that almost seems non existent from what has taken place already. This is all very sad, so many talented people, people with so much passion, and yet a small sliver of evil so heinous it can destroy that talent and passion mission in 1 hour. Now we wait.
There are many more videos of protests around the world than those shared above... really too many to post very easily.
But here's a 20-second video that's worth seeing. (What I've NOT noticed reported are protests supporting Israel, though there must be some somewhere??)
