A powerful piece from The Moon of Alabama yesterday.
I'll repeat what I posted immediately above.
Tens of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians, including MANY doctors, nurses, women and children, are a modern medieval horror that casts an indelible, lasting, terminal pile of shame on anyone in Netanyanu's government and (I'll say it clearly) anyone who supports Israel's actions.
Look at this good man. He was a POET.

Mr. Alareer lives in Gaza and is the editor of “Gaza Writes Back,” a collection of short stories.

On Tuesday, Linah asked her question again after my wife and I didn’t answer it the first time: Can they destroy our building if the power is out? I wanted to say: “Yes, little Linah, Israel can still destroy the beautiful al-Jawharah building, or any of our buildings, even in the darkness. Each of our homes is full of tales and stories that must be told. Our homes annoy the Israeli war machine, mock it, haunt it, even in the darkness. It can’t abide their existence. And, with American tax dollars and international immunity, Israel presumably will go on destroying our buildings until there is nothing left.” But I can’t tell Linah any of this. So I lie: “No, sweetie. They can’t see us in the dark.”

The US press and politicians are trying to fit the attacks on Gaza into a Zero Dark Thirty mold, but it’s something much simpler—and sinister.> America’s media and political class is analyzing, debating, and shaping a narrative in Gaza that’s entirely different from the one being discussed in Israeli media and among Israeli political leaders. This gap, born from casual racism, deliberate credulity, and reflexive alignment with the US government’s party line, is creating a media failure the likes of which we haven’t seen since the run-up to the Iraq War. ... <

Earlier today, Israel randomly opened fire on civilians in Khan Younis and attacked a school sheltering displaced families. Ambulances were barred from entering the area for an extended period. In response, local residents rushed to help and used horse-drawn carts to transport the wounded to hospitals. However, Israeli soldiers opened fire on the group as they were transporting the injured, killing Ahmed Abu Atiwi along with three other Palestinians, including one woman.

Arrest of a Jordanian Doctor En Route to Gaza on a Medical Relief Mission
Israeli authorities have detained my brother, Dr. Abdullah Salameh Al-Balawi, while heading to Gaza as part of a relief mission organized by PANZMA, with official Israeli approval. He was arrested on December 19 at the King Hussein Bridge border and is being held at Petah Tikva Detention Center.
His detention has been extended until December 26, 2024, with a ban on lawyer access and no explanation provided. Dr. Abdullah, a respected general surgeon, has participated in similar missions before without issues.
We, his family, urge the Jordanian authorities to act immediately to secure his release. It is unacceptable for him to remain detained.
Update: The wife of Jordanian doctor Abdullah Salama Al-Balawi, who was arrested by the occupation while heading to Gaza for a medical aid mission on December 19, 2024, said:
“My husband was heading to Gaza for an international medical relief mission after receiving approval from Israeli authorities. We were later informed by Israeli authorities of his arrest. This is the second time he has visited Gaza for this mission. They have prevented the lawyer from meeting him or checking his health condition, and we are in continuous contact with Jordanian officials.”

Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Well, for the moment it looks like it's coming down to Turkish everything, literally Turkish speakers in the government of Syria. Naturally, they have a huge interest. Some of that is perhaps beneficial. On a human level, they have normal relations.
It will probably be quickly augmented by a chance to defect:
The interim Syrian government will urge the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Islamic State* to drop the weapons and join the new Syrian army, the newspaper reported.
If not, then, Turkey and Damascus may go in together for military action.
As to the F-18 the other day, here is some healthy skepticism:
Quote:
"We know the Houthis are war-hardened, extremely tough, smart, and motivated," retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, told Sputnik, commenting on the group’s alleged downing of a US warplane. "They have a variety of drones and hypersonic missiles, and they are fighting a long war for fundamental reasons, specifically to free the Arab world from Israeli, NATO, and US domination."
The CENTCOM explanation seems questionable to Kwiatkowski for three reasons:
1.The Pentagon typically avoids admitting friendly fire incidents due to the embarrassment. The quick acknowledgment after the crash suggests the truth might be even more embarrassing.
2.The incident is being downplayed and underreported in domestic news, aside from the survival of the pilots.
3.There is confirmed evidence of Houthi capabilities to hit ships, drones, and slower-moving aircraft in the Red Sea over the past 15 months.
How Could the Houthis Have Downed the US Warplane?
Kwiatkowski noted that the F/A-18 was struck shortly after takeoff, as it was gaining speed and altitude.
"It is likely that the countermeasures in the F-18 were not usable so soon after takeoff and at the altitude they were hit," she suggested. "Security for takeoff is the carrier battle group’s primary responsibility."
Additionally, if a Houthi missile attack was detected, it's possible that US defense systems were trying to avoid friendly fire. This algorithm might have allowed the missile or drone to find its target so close to the USS Harry Truman, within the US-friendly zone.
Why is the US Navy Downplaying the Houthi Missile Threat?
According to Kwiatkowski, the primary reason for downplaying is that "the US Navy and Air Force are aging, overstretched for the types of global missions its politicians demand, and demoralized by both the politics of 'war' and extremely poor military leadership."
"The US Naval offensive posture – 12 nuclear Carrier Battle Groups with associated submarine escorts – has become a global target and a technological sitting duck," which are "hard to man, expensive to operate, and difficult to defend."
The needed changes are being resisted by current military and political leadership, according to the former Pentagon analyst.
"It is the end of this model, and a time for a new US military posture that matches its actual means and constitutional goals. And, dare I say at this time of year, a push for peace," Kwiatkowski concluded.
That's pretty much how I saw it. I don't have that kind of experience, but that's how I saw it.

some snippets:
Siegel recalled how the terrorists invaded their bomb shelter on October 7 after shooting and wounding Keith, her husband of 43 years. They broke his ribs in the process of abducting him, and took the couple to Gaza in Keith’s car.
In Gaza, they were met by crowds of civilians — including women and children — who cheered the terrorists bringing hostages from Israel.
They were forced into a tunnel, where they were later joined by other hostages, many wounded. They would be moved from one location to another 13 times before Aviva was freed. In one tunnel, she said, she was convinced that they would die for lack of oxygen. They were denied food and water for whole days at a time, she said.
At one point, she personally witnessed a Hamas terrorist molesting one of the female Israeli hostages.

They will wear themselves out:
Sirens were activated in over 200 locations, forcing nearly two million settlers to rush to bomb shelters. Israeli occupation emergency services confirmed that nine Zionists were injured during a frantic stampede to shelters following the missile strike.
Meanwhile, the U. S. is stealing Syrian air defense systems.
While:
Quote:
Head of Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham and the de facto leader of Syria Abu Mohammad Al-Joulani reached an agreement on Tuesday with former rebel faction chiefs to dissolve all groups and consolidate them under the defense ministry.
Meanwhile, a senior commander with the so-called “Syrian National Army”, a militant group that is backed by Turkey, that some factions met Joulani, who is now referred to as Ahmad Al-Sharaa.
The commander told The National, on condition of anonymity, that the militant factions confirmed to Al-Joulani that they are ready to work within the Ministry of Defense.
“The National Army has not held an official meeting with Ahmad Al Sharaa yet, and those who met [with him] do not represent everyone. But the majority of the factions met with him and there is fear among the rest because the formation of the Ministry of Defense and Chief of Staff has not relied on officers, and not all the defected officers were assigned any mission, but rather [the process] relied on those close to Al Sharaa,” the commander said.
Here is a recent analysis of devil's triangle:
Quote:
Written by Damir Nazarov
While Turkish officials are actively visiting Damascus, in northeastern Syria, pro-Turkish formations have begun the second phase of the fight against the PKK. The main target of the national Syrian army is Manbij, Kobani and up to Raqqa. The “Rojava” administration is trying to bargain with Ankara in the hope of getting at least something from the previously captured Arab lands, but Erdogan is adamant, “the PKK has no place in the future Syria,” the Turkish president says.
The so-called “Democratic Forces of Syria”, knowing about the tactical alliance between Tahrir al-Sham and the Turks, are trying to find a gap between them, playing the dialogue card specifically with Damascus, ignoring Turkey, in response to which the former leader of the local al-Qaeda assures that “the Kurds are part of Syria, but the PKK must leave.” However, the Tahrir al-Sham forces were not seen as part of the SNA in the north-east of the country.
Nevertheless, the main attention is focused on the Americans, who, to the great regret of the Kurds, are in an extremely unfortunate situation due to the results of the recent elections. Trump’s victory forces the Democrats to pursue a complex policy depending on the statements of Trumpists on Syria. For example, as soon as Trump announced a month ago that he was ready to withdraw troops from Syria, the Pentagon decided to increase its contingent to several thousand. Then Trump indicated that “Erdogan holds the key to Syria”, after which a delegation from Washington went to al-Julani, which should be interpreted as a positive signal to the Arab autocracies to establish themselves in Syria, as a counterweight to Ankara. However, Trump’s adviser Michael Waltz then stated that the fight against ISIS is the first priority of the United States, Israel’s security is the second, and the third is expanding relations with the Gulf countries. Waltz clearly indicated that “Kurdish friends are the main partners of the United States in the fight against ISIS”.
This will explain why the current government in the United States has organized a series of attacks against the Takfirists and is trying in every possible way to prevent the pro-Turkish Ottomans from eliminating the PKK in Manbij. Biden’s team does not want to be responsible for the defeat of the Kurds, so as not to allow the Trumpists to openly criticize their policies. However, supporting the PKK in Syria is fraught with Americans, regardless of party affiliation, distancing themselves from Turkey, which has suddenly become number one in the Middle East. This is the dilemma that Washington will have to resolve, but whatever the decision, China has already won on this part of the chessboard.
Zionism also does not want to be on the sidelines on the Kurdish issue. Its priority is to provide all necessary support to the PKK-YPG. Since the “Israelis” see them as the main ally in the common fight against Iran and Turkey. The Kurds are encouraged by the Zionist support, since “Israel” occupies a key place in Trump’s cabinet, which, according to the Kurds, can delay the fall of “Rojava”.

Hamas Accuses Israel of Stonewalling Gaza Ceasefire With New Demands
CAIRO (Sputnik) - Israel has put forward "new conditions" related to the withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip, ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners, Palestinian movement Hamas said on Wednesday.
Serious negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange are taking place in Doha, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, the movement said in a statement.
"The movement demonstrated responsibility and flexibility, but the occupation [Israel] raised new questions and put forward new demands related to withdrawal, ceasefire, prisoner exchange and return of displaced persons, which delayed the agreement that was available," the statement read.

Resistance in Jenin Faces PA Crackdown
“The resistance’s aim has been clear from the start: the deal must end aggression and guarantee a withdrawal,” Al-Hindi stated. He noted that the resistance showed flexibility in the process, including phased withdrawals, but remained firm on the ultimate objective of complete Israeli retreat.
Al-Hindi expressed concerns over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s potential misuse of the talks for political gains. “These attempts are being thwarted by the resilience of our people and the steadfastness of the resistance,” he emphasized.
He added, “We are in a critical phase, holding firm. With God’s will, we will achieve a ceasefire and a withdrawal.”
In the Cairo discussions, the resistance proposed forming a national unity government to manage Gaza and the West Bank. However, Al-Hindi revealed that the Palestinian Authority (PA) rejected this path.
Egypt then suggested a “Gaza Support Committee” that aligned with PA conditions, including administrative and legal oversight under PA leadership. The committee was to be formed via a presidential decree by Mahmoud Abbas. Despite Egypt’s adjustments, the PA declined to participate.
Following support from the Riyadh Arab-Islamic summit, Egypt began preparations to establish the committee, leaving the door open for PA involvement. “This committee is being prepared for the day after a potential ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal,” al-Hindi explained.
Al-Hindi condemned the PA’s actions against resistance fighters in Jenin. He questioned the PA’s motives, asking: “What message does the PA want to send by attacking the Jenin camp and its heroes? Why are its forces absent when Israeli soldiers and settlers assault our towns and camps?”
He accused the PA of diverting attention from the massacre in Gaza and the ongoing land grabs and settlement expansions in the West Bank. “The PA’s problem is with the resistance, not with the occupation,” he said.
Jenin’s resistance factions have expressed readiness for dialogue to protect Palestinian lives. Al-Hindi urged the PA to halt its campaign in Jenin and instead engage in talks, especially as Israeli crimes escalate across the West Bank.
Stalled Ceasefire and Prisoner Exchange Talks
Hamas had confirmed that ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, are ongoing but face challenges. The movement highlighted its flexibility and responsibility during talks, stressing that Israel has been introducing new conditions.
Key sticking points include Israel’s insistence on controlling the Philadelphi Corridor between Gaza and Egypt, maintaining control over the Rafah crossing, and screening returnees to northern Gaza via the Nitzarim corridor.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry also stated on Tuesday that talks remain underway, with no clear timeline for an agreement.

Brutal Israeli attacks hit Gaza as ceasefire talks ‘deadlocked’
The Israeli military has been simultaneously besieging and attacking three different hospitals in northern Gaza
Dozens of Palestinians have been killed by brutal Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, health authorities in the besieged enclave announced on 25 December.
The Gaza Health Ministry said at least 23 people were killed and 39 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the previous day.
At least three, including a child, were killed on Wednesday, and several others were injured when Israeli jets hit the vicinity of the Al-Muhabbain school, which shelters displaced Palestinians in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.
Israel launched deadly attacks on other areas of the strip on Wednesday.
“Two Palestinians were killed and several others were injured when Israeli drones targeted a group of citizens in the Abu Khater neighborhood, near the Islamic University, southeast of Khan Yunis,” medical sources told WAFA news agency.
Tel Aviv has stepped up its attacks and total siege – particularly in north Gaza – where over 100,000 people have been forcibly expelled and thousands killed in a few months.
This comes as part of the unofficial implementation of the Generals’ Plan, which aims to make northern Gaza uninhabitable through mass destruction, killing, and expulsion. Israel aims to completely empty out north Gaza and transform the area into an isolated military zone.
As part of this plan, Israel is also waging a brutal war against medical facilities in northern Gaza, including Beit Lahia’s besieged Kamal Adwan Hospital.
“Last night was one of the hardest nights for Kamal Adwan Hospital and the surrounding area. About 10 robots were blown up, most of them near the hospital. All the doors, interior partitions, and windows were destroyed, and some walls were also demolished. The debris scattered everywhere created a painful scene and instilled fear in the hearts of people in the hospital,” said Kamal Adwan Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia on Wednesday.
Early on 25 December, Israeli warplanes bombed homes in the vicinity of the hospital. The medical facility has been under near-daily attacks for several months.
Israeli forces detonated explosive-laden robotic vehicles, wounding at least 20 patients and medical staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital on 24 December while simultaneously stepping up attacks and shelling on Beit Lahia’s Indonesian Hospital and the Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia.
As the war of extermination continued, Hamas accused Israel on Wednesday of continuing to obstruct reaching a ceasefire and exchange deal.
“The ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations are proceeding in Doha with Qatari and Egyptian mediation in a serious manner. The movement has shown responsibility and flexibility, but the [Israeli] occupation has set new issues and conditions related to withdrawal, ceasefire, prisoners, and the return of the displaced, which has delayed reaching the agreement that was available.”
Israeli officials cited by Hebrew outlet Channel 12 accused Hamas leader Mohammad Sinwar – brother of the late resistance chief Yahya Sinwar – of not submitting a list of living Israeli captives who remain in Gaza, which they say has held up the negotiations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office also accused Hamas of holding up an agreement. According to sources cited by The National, US, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators who have recently been meeting in Cairo and Doha have reached a “deadlock.”

Resistance Security Uncovers Spy Network Planted in Gaza Hospital
Gaza (Quds News Network)- A senior resistance security official revealed the discovery of a spy device network inside a hospital in Gaza. The network, planted by Israeli forces, aimed to monitor Palestinian movements for targeted strikes.
The official told Al-Haris Platform that the resistance’s security team acted on a tip from a local resident. The tip reported an unusual “building block” within the hospital, which Israeli troops had stormed during their recent ground maneuver deep inside Gaza.
A covert security unit inspected the site. Initial checks confirmed the “block” was modified to conceal surveillance equipment. The device was linked to other spy units around the hospital and equipped with hidden cameras disguised in various forms.
The security official commended the citizen who reported the device. “Their alertness saved lives, protected the home front, and strengthened security awareness,” the official said.
He urged Palestinians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activities. “Every contribution fortifies our resilience and thwarts the enemy’s plans,” he added.
Previously, resistance forces had discovered Israeli spy devices planted among the tents of displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza. Israeli intelligence had disguised the surveillance equipment to blend into the environment. The devices were camouflaged as natural objects, including fake rocks, making them difficult to detect.

Let's not forget that the Palestinians are the Philistines of biblical lore.
Although the official rendition places the Palestinians as Canaanites, this is just subterfuge for the fact that the Philistines were always a warring troupe with a 2,500 year old plus abiding hate of the Israelites.
The changing of names and the social media propaganda does not alter the facts, only hides them away behind the lies.
Supporting the same lie over and over does not make it true.
We remember the ancient warning: The Philistines have plotted the eradication of Israelis and the western world for thousands of years.
The fact that they sacrifice their own civilians to the cause for favorable media coverage is the proof of their unwavering dedication to the destruction of Israel.
