Hamas says keen on reaching Gaza ceasefire deal
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas affirmed on Monday it is keen on reaching a Gaza ceasefire deal.
In a statement, the Palestinian group confirmed that indirect negotiations, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, regarding reaching a deal that would end the Israeli war on Gaza and complete a prisoner exchange with "Israel", are progressing well.
Hamas also announced that a senior delegation, led by Chairman of the Leadership Council Mohammad Darwish, met with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to discuss the latest developments in efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The statement highlighted that during the meeting, progress achieved in recent days in Doha was reviewed, with Hamas affirming that it is approaching these efforts and developments in a positive manner.
Earlier on Monday, a Palestinian official told Al Mayadeen that Hamas and "Israel" are nearing an agreement on a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange after overcoming most obstacles.
Hamas has consistently maintained that any deal must result in a permanent end to the war and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza, while "Israel" has firmly stated it will not cease its war until the Palestinian group is dismantled.
'It can get done this week': US National Security Advisor
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan described the ongoing negotiations as being at a "pivotal" stage, noting that the gaps between the two sides are gradually narrowing.
He said that progress had been made on issues including the formula for the exchange of captives held by the Palestinian Resistance and Palestinian detainees held by "Israel", and on how Israeli occupation forces would be "postured" in Gaza.
"I think there is a good chance we can close this ... the parties are right on the cusp of being able to close this deal," he told reporters.
"We are close to a deal, and it can get done this week. I'm not making a promise or prediction, but it is there for the taking, and we are going to work to make it happen," Sullivan indicated.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told MSNBC that the parties were "closer than we've ever been" to reaching an agreement, claiming that the next step rested with Hamas.
"We are very hopeful that we get it over the finish line, finally after all this time," Blinken said, adding that the proposed agreement is based on a framework introduced by US President Biden in May.
The White House confirmed that Biden spoke on Sunday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and discussed by telephone efforts underway to reach a deal.
Biden "stressed the immediate need for a ceasefire in Gaza and return of the hostages with a surge in humanitarian aid enabled by a stoppage in the fighting under the deal," the White House said in a statement.

"Our fighters managed to raid a building where a Zionist infantry force of 25 soldiers was fortified, and dealt with them with various types of weapons, killing and wounding all members of the force. Immediately after the rescue force arrived, a minefield was detonated in two troop carriers, and the fire is still burning in the building, and the clash is ongoing in the 'Al-Najili' area in the Al-Shaboura camp in the center of Rafah city in southern Gaza."

I see that the Nakba is still in progress.
Here's a taste of the future, unknown weaponry:
“We have weapons that we have not spoken about so far and the enemy has no information about them. Some of these weapons may be tested during the drills,” he told reporters.
Let's see. A few days ago, it was a massive 4,000 - km strike drone. Not too surprising. Just big.
A couple other things have been observed, starting with a laser air defense. I know someone else claimed to be working on them. This is an operationally tested unit being deployed into service.
There is also a new class of amphibious drones, for which, details are not available, but we might imagine squadrons going around re-charging off a small motor boat.
As for putting them to use, it seems to me the United Nations needs an adult supervisor. The only "peace process" delivered by that thing is the perpetual ratcheting of U. S. and Soviet or Russian vetos. It only has the ability to prevent certain ideas going forward. In essence, the U. N. is the Nakba. Attempts to differentiate them would be somewhat futile.

This is...something. The Turkish Air Force again supports the SNA to assault Kurdish positions. However, look at this Iran-excluded think tank hosted by Saudi Arabia:
Quote:
The meeting brought together foreign ministers and representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, France, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Spain, Syria, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the U.S., as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the UN Special Envoy for Syria.
Now look what goes without Iran saying it:
Quote:
The meeting also addressed concerns over Israel’s incursions into the buffer zone and neighboring sites in Mount Hermon and Quneitra Governorate. Participants underscored the need to respect Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
I would expect Turkey can nest its position by saying it doesn't seek occupation or territorial gains, but, disapproves of any Kurdish militias that are not part of regular Syrian forces.
Israel appears to be the only one saying Hermon/Quneitra belong to us. It's not much to go on, but, I am glad to see there basically isn't anyone else who thinks this should be happening.

‘How can you kill thousands of children? You are a brutal war criminal. You have no compassion. You are a monster’
Here's how news works. Atlantic Council merely reports it as his final speech and that he continued with the CEO.
Turkish press puts the interruption in the headline.
Atlantic Council is not so much a think tank as a 1961 influence tank. Recent contributions have come from the family of the Prime Minister of Lebanon, the UAE, and Burisma. It's generally held to sell itself to "foreign dominance".
It is a sub-specie of the 1954 Atlantic Treaty Association whose task is ideological support for NATO. It's "separable" -- get rid of NATO, and this thing will still be floating around.
Here are a few more examples why we might want to be wary of this mode of speech:
Quote:
In July 2019, Russia said the activities of the Atlantic Council pose a threat to the foundations of its constitutional system and the security of the Russian Federation. Russia added the Atlantic Council to its list of "undesirable" organizations, preventing it from operating within Russia. Russian scholars Andrei Tsygankov, Pavel Tsygankov, and Haley Gonzalez (2023) noted pro-NATO and anti-Russian bias in Atlantic Council publications.
The United States diplomatic cables leak revealed that the Atlantic Council worked closely with Chevron Corporation and ExxonMobil representatives to undermine the Brazilian legislative proposal to grant Petrobras chief operator of the pre-salt oil deposits in the Brazilian coast. Upon failure, the organization pivoted to undermine the institutions that held that legislation in place by openly supporting the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff and the ongoing lawfare against Petrobras. After the legislative victory, the success of the first auctions was announced in an event organized by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the main contributors to the Atlantic Council on this endeavour, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell plc and BP, were awarded with pre-salt exploration contracts.
The Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center was launched in December 2020 in a keynote event with ECB President Christine Lagarde. The GeoEconomics Center develops data-driven programs, publications, and thought leadership at the nexus of economics, finance, and foreign policy. The Center aims to bridge the divide between these siloed sectors with the goal of helping shape a more resilient global economy. The Center is organized around three pillars - the Future of Capitalism, the Future of Money, and the Economic Statecraft Initiative. They produce cutting-edge data visualizations and research on a range of issues including digital currencies, China’s economy, sanctions, and the future of the Bretton Woods system.
In September 2021, the Global China Hub was founded to research three challenges posed by China's economic growth: China’s growing influence on countries, global institutions, and democratic values; the global ramifications of political and economic change in Xi Jinping’s China; and China’s drive to dominate emerging technologies and the consequences for individual rights and privacy.
"Drive to dominate"...well if you are an Anglo, you had better get educated in Chiuna as just posted here.

❗️Trump wants his Ronald Reagan moment.
Trump did as Reagan did. They both threatened that all hell will break loose if hostages are not released by inauguration day. News headlines on Reagan's 1981 inauguration were a combination of his inauguration and the American hostages being released in Iran after 444 days of captivity.
Trump desperately craves the same headlines for his inauguration.
