We got very lucky that hurricane exited Florida through a town about 50 miles south of our town. However, we lost power this morning. We now have a small "pond" in our backyard, which is not good. The drainage pond which is on the other side of our next door neighbor is almost at capacity. And the street in front of our house now has about 6 inches of water. In 27 years of being here, this is the worst that I've seen. We had 3 hurricanes that went through our area in 2004, and this is causing more damage than those three did. Our house is safe and didn't suffer any damage. Thank goodness for generator, I'll have to start it up later today.

Good morning All, thank God my family and neighbors on our street we are fine, lots of debri strewn everywhere. I also grateful for the other avalon members that survived this hurricane.
We (family and neighbors) are lucky, blessed we did not lose power, nor had flooding, nor have our homes rip apart from the battering that lasted most of the day and well into the night.
(This is difficult to explain and personal, but on the invisible side this was a huge dark entity, dark force. I’ve experienced similar darkness before but not as huge, in other places, and it is strong, hateful, taunting and tormenting but more importantly it thrives on fear, weakness and more. It hates prayers. It might be my imagination but I know what I saw and felt yesterday.) The destruction of property can be replaced but loss of life cannot and that’s very sad and mournful beyond words. 🌹

still waiting to hear back from 4 different people I know in the area, ft meyers had a surge between 12-18ft of water , reports of people calling 911 in their car and houses saying water was coming up and phone lines going dead, they said this morning deaths would be in the hundreds. I can tell you when I lived in vegas , we had a flash flood rain. I was driving down a road that is considered the funnel point of the valley of vegas where the water goes to lake mead. As I was driving towards that point and went thru an intersection light I looked in my rear view mirror and they were putting up barricades behind me so no traffic could follow me. Within 30 seconds the water had washed up on the road and was coming over the front hood of my car, I knew I was in trouble so I turned right and into the construction barriers to get off this road, as I was going to the right I felt my rear end of the car get picked up by the water going higher. By the grace of god and angelic intervention my rear tires grabbed something and pulled me out of the water. It happened that quick. Cars have been sucked down into the wash on the way to leak mead and bodies never found. So now we wait and see. Lots of prayers to everyone down there. Including my personal friends and family. Still waiting on a call.
As for a Segway to the chihuahua dog , his name is gringo, he was my mother in laws before she died, he's 18 , 85% blind, takes heart meds and has diabetes. He is one of the coolest little dudes, still plays and compensates for his sight. He walks with authority, gets up with me in the middle of the night to go outside. And is he animated. I post a pic later. I love that little guy.

I have 2 family members in the area and I have not heard from them yet. I suspect they are part of the 2 million without power.
Post Update
One of my relatives was pretty close to Ft. Myers and made out okay. Flooding around them but not at their spot, they still have power but cellular and internet are down.

Used to live in North naples not far from the beach where the heavy stuff hit. Canals that run to the ocean border along both sides of that neighborhood, so I assume my old living room was partially submerged as a result. I currently live in a high rise along the beach in Sarasota, but we got off relatively Scott free, no flooding, just lost power.

Spoke with my buddy in Tampa, not a scratch there, my uncle in south Tampa who rode this out, in his mobile home park sporadic major damage to but only to select mobile homes, really weird. My buddy in Tampa said his neighbors daughter lives in ft. Meyers,hadn't heard from her since yesterday. Buddy in Punta gorda said they took a pounding there but had no idea how bad ft. Meyers was. Dump truck driver from here contemplating heading to Florida to work for fema .

I have several friends that I haven't heard from yet who live in Ft Meyers, praying they are ok.
