As the sun sets and firefighting aircraft halt operations, massive wildfires continue to spread in Sha’ar HaGai and beyond, now threatening the Jerusalem Forest due to shifting winds.

Nine settlements have been evacuated, 10,000 settlers have fled their homes, and evacuations are ongoing.

Nataf has been cleared, Eshtaol residents allowed to return, while Ramat Raziel, Giv’at Ye’arim, and Kisalon prepare for possible evacuation.

An armed group has emerged in southern Damascus in Syria called the Mountain Battalion that has warned against any offensive by the HTS-led regime on Ashrafiyat Sahnaya region.

Meanwhile, local media have reported a widespread presence of the HTS-led regime's forces in the outskirts of Ashrafiyat Sahnaya to suppress and slaughter the residents of that area.

A source affiliated with the HTS-led regime reported the start of widespread movements in that area targeting what it called outlaw groups.

A security source in Damascus also reported the killing of 16 HTSA forces in Ashrafiyat Sahnaya, adding "The clashes are still ongoing and our forces are advancing and have taken control of some areas inside this area."

In the meantime, Israeli media outlets, citing sources in the occupied Golan, claimed that Israeli troops were moving towards Syrian territory.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and War Minister Katz made a meddling statement in defense of the Druze community, announcing, "The Israeli army carried out a warning operation and attacked a group of extremists who were preparing to attack the Druze in Sahnaya."

Education Minister Yoav Kisch has also said that "Israel supports the Druze and will not allow anyone to harm them."

Energy Minister Eli Cohen also defended the Druze, saying that, "We will not stay silent against any action against the Druze."

We are ready to go to Syria and we oppose Israeli interference in this country. Israel seeks to abuse the Druze to create sedition in Syria."

Jumbalatt also said that "We want a united Syria," warning that "Israel seeks to displace the Druze and exploit them."

The chief of the defence staff – Britain’s most senior military officer – refused to answer questions yesterday about Royal Air Force (RAF) surveillance flights over Gaza and intelligence sharing with Israel.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin declined to comment on whether the operations made him a participant in Israel’s campaign in Gaza, which is the subject of a genocide investigation by the UN’s top court.

Radakin was questioned about the operations by Declassified for more than two minutes as he walked along London’s Victoria Embankment from the Ministry of Defence to parliamentary offices at Portcullis House.

“I’m going to a public accounts committee hearing and I don’t really have time for this conversation”, the Admiral said, before refusing to engage further.

Despite heading to parliament to discuss the military’s budget, he ignored questions about how much the RAF has spent on more than 500 spy flights over Gaza since December 2023.

Last night after midnight the Freedom Flotilla’s vessel the Conscience was bombed in Malta’s exclusive economic zone by 2 drones

Freedom Flotilla Attacked — Ship in Distress, Immediate Action Needed from Maltese Government

MALTA / INTERNATIONAL WATERS — At 00:23 Maltese time, the Conscience, a Freedom Flotilla Coalition ship came under direct attack in international waters. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition had been organizing a nonviolent action under a media black out to avoid any potential sabotage. Volunteers from over 21 countries travelled to Malta to board the mission to Gaza, including prominent figures. On the morning of their scheduled departure, the vessel was attacked. Armed drones attacked the front of an unarmed civilian vessel twice, causing a fire and a substantial breach in the hull. The last communication in the early morning of the 2nd of May, indicated the drones are still circling the ship.

The ship, located in international waters just off the coast of Malta, issued an SOS distress signal immediately following the attack. A vessel from Southern Cyprus was dispatched but is not providing the critical electrical support needed. The drone strike appears to have deliberately targeted the ship’s generator, leaving the crew without power and placing the vessel at great risk of sinking.

On board are international human rights activists on a nonviolent humanitarian mission to challenge Israel’s illegal and deadly siege of Gaza, and to deliver desperately needed, life-saving aid. Since March 2, 2025 Israel has barred all aid trucks from entering Gaza, deliberately starving over two million civilians in full view of the international community. Humanitarian experts estimate the population in Gaza requires at least 600 aid trucks each day to meet even the most basic needs, yet not a single truck has been allowed in for two months.

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Rome advised that a tugboat has been sent out and is on the scene. Our communications with the vessel were destroyed in the attack and we are unable to confirm this. Under international maritime law and conventions Malta is obliged to act and ensure the safety of a civilian ship in distress within its proximity. The lack of response and information about the rescue efforts breaches international customary law.

Israeli ambassadors must be summoned and answer to violations of international law, including the ongoing blockade and the bombing of our civilian vessel in international waters.

We demand that:

Malta immediately respond to its obligation and ensure the safety of all on board the vessel.
The international community condemns this aggression against an unarmed humanitarian aid vessel and demand the Maltese authorities immediately act.
All states end political, financial and military support for Israel’s illegal siege, blockade, occupation, and apartheid.
Civil society contact Maltese embassies and high commissions globally to ensure the safety of our humanitarians.
We demand a full investigation of the attacks of the concerned authorities and urge all states and international organisations to provide assistance.

⚡️BREAKING: New footage and Update on the Freedom Flotilla vessel “Conscience”which was struck by drones off the coast of Malta in international water.

Footage shows activists reaching the ship and chanting “FREE PALESTINE!”

New footage shows and explains the damage that the ship sustained.

The vessel, carrying 30 international human rights activists en route to Gaza, caught fire and risked sinking as the crew battled the flames. An SOS was sent to nearby coastal states, including Malta.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Israel carried out the attack.

The Maltese government stated that the vessel and its crew were rescued in the early hours of the morning after a nearby tug assisted with firefighting operations.

An Israeli Air Force C-130 Hercules was picked up leaving Israel early Thursday afternoon and flying to Malta, according to flight-tracking website ADS-B Exchange. The Hercules did not land at Malta's international airport, the data shows, but the cargo aircraft did fly at a relatively low altitude - below 5,000 feet - over eastern Malta for an extended period of time. The Hercules flew over several hours before the Freedom Flotilla Coalition says their vessel came under attack. The plane returned to Israel about seven hours later, flight-tracking data shows.
