Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
One thing we should know by now, is that what Trump says has no reliable truth-value and is a deliberately distracting irrelevance, when compared with what actually happens.
But, although I am unsure what has happened in terms of US bombing or Iraq; in a more general sense, it does matter what is being talked about in the public sphere. Because when previously-taboo things have been discussed in the media, in an accepting way - then they are normalized, accepted, and more likely to happen in future.
I'm thinking of the way that the Western powers deliberate attempts at radioactive contamination of the environment have normalized the idea of eco-destruction as a political tool.
In the past couple of years, NATO and its controlled-proxies (Ukraine, Israel etc) have used radioactive warheads ("depleted" uranium) in Ukraine (which is supposed to be an ally, and has presumably been contaminated).
There have been multiple rocket, artillery and commando attacks on the biggest nuclear power station in Europe (Zaporizhzhia) - which if successful would presumably have led to massive radioactive contamination of a wide area (far worse than Chernobyl).
There have been several evidenced reports from Russia of Ukr/ NATO preparing "dirty bombs" - i.e. conventional explosives surrounded by radioactive material, and specifically designed to cause environmental contamination.
And now, in Iran, there have been (at some level of severity) direct NATO attacks on nuclear facilities, again with the outcomes of causing radioactive contamination.
All this environmental terrorism would have been unthinkable 40 years ago - but has gone unnoticed and (I think) uncommented on by Western media and politicians. It was so far beyond acceptable, that only the most evil villains in Hollywood movies would try it - and it was unambiguous evidence of their extreme evilness.
The regularity of these reports has normalized the whole matter of deliberate radioactive contamination, lowering the threshold of usage almost completely - at least, in the West. And I think it has made the use of nuclear weapons much more likely than ever before.
(A similar case could be said about the massive and accelerating use of assassination by the West (including wholesale multiple assassinations) - including the bland acceptance of massive collateral damage to innocent bystanders. As with radioactive contamination - this corruption of geopolitical conduct has been Western led, and - so far - mostly or exclusively done by the West. Not so long ago, this practice was regarded in the West as as barbaric, vile, uncivilized, and counter-productive to good order - now, apparently, assassination of even the crudest and indiscriminate type is regarded perfectly reasonable, hardly noticed, and triggers no discussion or debate.)
Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Just a few observations from orbit. :)
- The US has lost all credibility as a reliable negotiator (with Iran, Russia, China, or anyone else).
- Iran will now 100% for sure develop a nuclear weapon. They could do so in a very short time. And several other nations will be motivated to do the same, as rapidly as possible.
- The START treaty has been bunker-busted (to use Pepe Escobar's words), as has the IAEA and the UN Charter.
- Israel has been shown to be very weak and vulnerable against a sustained attack from a peer military.
- Trump has done huge damage to MAGA, and will have to suddenly become very measured, wise, careful and diplomatic to regain his lost support base.
- Russia and China (and all of BRICS) emerge looking strong.
- All Iran had to do to 'win' the conflict was remain intact with no 'regime change'.
- (And of course, the fragile ceasefire may not hold at all.)
