Putin tasked the special services with finding and punishing the criminals responsible for the invasion of Kursk today
At an expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion of the Kursk region a crime against the Russian people. According to him, the duty of the Russian Armed Forces is to "throw out the enemy" from there, and the task of the special services is to "find and punish the criminals."
The sacred duty of the armed forces is to drive the enemy out of our territory, the task of the military justice bodies is to record all these crimes, especially against the civilian population, and the task of the special services is to find and punish the criminals.
- stressed the head of state.
He added that from a military point of view, the attack was an adventure for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the Russian leader noted that the Russian Federation is not fighting the Ukrainian people, but the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv, which seized power in 2014. According to him, the people who are in power in Ukraine commit crimes against their own people and against the Russian people every day.
The President considers the reduction of the mobilization age in Ukraine to 18 years to be possible and criminal, and such a step by Kyiv will not change the situation on the battlefield. Putin is confident that the Ukrainian authorities will reduce the mobilization age, "drive the boys to the slaughter", and then "these figures" will simply flee abroad.
Kiev Gloriously Winning Ghost Of North Korean Army today
The Armed Forces of Ukraine retreat in almost all directions on the Donbass frontlines and in the Kursk region. The strategically important stronghold in Kurakhovo is falling, while the Russian troops are approaching Pokrovsk. Kiev cannot hide its defeats and turns to its favorite propaganda tactics of fake victories.
The Ukrainian army keeps fighting the North Korean troops not on the battlefields but in the headlines of Ukrainian media. There is still no viable evidence of presence of North Korean fighters on the frontlines but Ukrainians have already celebrated their victories against them, including fake deaths of some DPRK generals, strikes on North Korean bases, repelling of thier attacks etc.
Today, when the fortress of Kurakhovo is about to fall, Kiev resumed its propaganda campaign. It begins with Zelensky’s claim about the offensive of the North Korean troops in the Kursk region. Ukrainian media support his claims with unclear videos of some soldiers running in the snow.
Ukrainian propaganda is supported by the Western MSM. For example, Daily Mail published the story about two North Korean girls allegedly thrown into battles in Russia. There was no surprise that the photo of two girls was fake and it was based on an old photo:
The trump card was the footage shared by one of the notorious Ukrainian commanders Madyar. It was aimed at assuring the public that the North Korean troops are suffering heavy losses.
The video was proudly shared by Ukrainian media sources which never doubt claims of Kiev’s military or political officials. Ukrainians are celebrating another fake victory, while the footage simply shows bodies some unidentified men laying on the snow.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian soldiers are still looking for North Korean fighters on the frontlines. It is not excluded that they are deployed near the Kursk frontlines but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are yet to achieve any of the declared victories.

"Russia has won this war!" - AfD Leader Declares Russia the Winner of the Ukraine War
AfD co-leader Tino Chrupalla has called on the German government to recognize Russia as the victor in the Ukraine war. "Reality has caught up with those who claim to enable Ukraine to win the war," he stated, urging the government to "finally work toward ending the war."
"Russia has won this war."
— Tino Chrupalla, AfD Co-Leader
Chrupalla also questioned the benefits of Germany's NATO membership, emphasizing that a defense alliance must "accept and respect the interests of all European countries – including those of Russia." He added, "If NATO cannot ensure this, Germany must consider to what extent this alliance remains beneficial to us."

The situation at the site of the explosion in Moscow, where the explosion of an IED killed Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kirillov and his assistant
As can be seen in the footage from Readovka, law enforcement officers cordoned off the area around the place where the IED detonated , killing Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kirillov and his assistant. There are two bodies in bags at the entrance - a scooter is lying nearby, to which the explosive was attached, the Investigative Committee confirmed. The IED was detonated remotely.
Law enforcement officers are working at the scene - they are waiting for a team of sappers. Eyewitnesses said that they heard one loud explosion - then glass began to fall from the windows from the 1st to the 3rd floor.

"Igor Kirillov systematically exposed Anglo-Saxon crimes for many years, presenting facts: NATO’s chemical weapon provocations in Syria, Great Britain's manipulation of banned substances and incidents in Salisbury and Amesbury, the deadly work of American biolabs in Ukraine, and much more. He worked fearlessly, never hiding behind others. He marched with his visor open. For the Motherland, for the truth," said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

BREAKING Bild propagandist
@JulianRoepcke
hinted at Kiev’s involvement in the killing of Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian NBC Protection Troops, and his driver.
The NATO propagandist stated that the “death sentence was carried out” just 20 hours after Ukraine accused Kirillov of allegedly using chemical weapons against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“A swift process,” he wrote.
Maria Zakharova responded to Röpcke: “Did we understand correctly that this is normal for German journalists? This is not a rhetorical question.”
The second victim of the explosion on Ryazansky Prospekt was Lieutenant General Kirillov’s driver, Ilya P. He had arrived around 6 a.m. to pick up his boss and take him to work.
As they exited the building, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, which had been attached to the handle of a scooter. Both men died at the scene.
For what it is worth (not much - just a feeling!) I think this latest assassination will be the escalatory straw that breaks the camel's back. i.e. rapidly provoking a new kind of retaliation against NATO beyond Ukr; and/or perhaps aimed at specific persons.
Such retaliation is, of course, exactly the intent behind the assassination.
It is very clear that the policy of restraint from Russia is not working from Russia's POV.
The big problem is therefore that there is no particular reason to suppose that a stepping-up of the scope of Russian retaliation will have the desired effect of deterring further provocations. So far, nothing has worked as deterrence, because (apparently) Western policy is mostly (or sufficiently) controlled by those who desire escalation - not only wrt Russia/ NATO, but also in China, the Middle East and everywhere.
Unless these (numerous) spiteful and sadistic warmongers are removed from power, then this Western policy of endless, ever more extreme, global provocations will continue, and continue to escalate (with lying pseudo-moral cover provided by the Western Mass Media) - but I see zero significant sign that any such purge is going to happen.
Indeed, overall, the opposite. Those who expect better from the incoming POTUS are already forced into the 4D chess nonsense in order to defend their hero, by arguing that appointing destructive warmongers to key positions of power, is (somehow) a "cunning plan" for neutralizing them...

IGOR KIRILLOV assassination VIDEO POTENTIAL FOR SENSITIVE CONTENT - viewer discretion advised
Blinking flip, this footage, from a parked vehicle, is extraordinary. Is this a view from someone in on this assassination? It seems to show Kirillov and Polykarpov exiting the building and approaching a vehicle and then an explosion is seen. It seems to be a legit piece of footage, I think. :flower:

More aftermath footage from different vantage points, here :flower:
Lt. General Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Forces, was k*lled by an explosive planted close to a residential apartment block in Moscow.
His assistant also died in the blast.
Kirillov is infamous for publishing data that claimed “Pentagon b*olabs in Ukraine were spreading biological weapons into Russia using bats and birds.”
A Ukrainian court had sentenced Kirillov less than 24 hours before the blast for the use of banned chemical weapons during Russia’s invasion of the country.
It is unknown if Ukrainian President Zelensky gave any 'order' to assass*nate Kirillov.
President-Elect Donald Trump has pledged to work towards a peace deal with Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky.
This is a significant escalation of Russia-Ukrainian tensions ahead of Trump's return to the White House.

Russia to raise topic of terror attack on Kirillov at UNSC meeting on December 20
"Those responsible for this crime must be duly punished and be unequivocally condemned by international community," Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky stressed
UNITED NATIONS, December 17. /TASS/. Russia will raise the issue of the terror attack on Russia’s nuclear defense chief Igor Kirillov at a UN Security Council meeting it has requested for December 20, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said.
"We will certainly raise the issue of the terrorist attack on Igor Kirillov at the UN Security Council meeting on December 20 that will be dedicated to Western weapons supplies to Ukraine and their impact of the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Those responsible for this crime must be duly punished and be unequivocally condemned by international community," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said earlier that the Kiev regime had admitted its role in plotting a terrorist attack against Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.
On the morning of December 17, an explosive device planted in a scooter exploded near the entrance of a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow, investigators revealed. Kirillov, 54, and his aide were killed in the blast. The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on charges of murder, terrorism, and illegal possession of arms and munitions (articles 105, 205, and 222 of the Russian Criminal Code). An investigation is underway.

Russia - Agree To Be Provoked Or Fall For Lucy's Football?
December 17, 2024
Early this morning assassins from the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the commander of the Russian Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, in Moscow:
Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov, commander of the nuclear, biological and chemical forces of the Russian army, died in a blast as he was heading out of a residential block in Moscow, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement. An explosive device was hidden in an electric scooter parked nearby. Kirillov’s aide also died in the attack, the investigative committee said, announcing a criminal investigation. Video footage obtained by POLITICO corroborates that version of events.
Kirillov lived in a normal apartment block. His aide was picking him up for work. They were observed and someone who was watching (and filming) them pulled the trigger.
Kirillov was well known. He gave several public presentations about secret U.S. bio-warfare experiments in Ukraine:
Writing on Kirillov’s passing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova said that throughout his career he had repeatedly exposed the crimes of the “Anglo-Americans” such as “NATO provocations with chemical weapons in Syria, Britain’s manipulations with prohibited chemical substances and provocations in Salisbury and Amesbury, the deadly activities of American biolabs in Ukraine, and much more.” “He worked fearlessly. He did not hide behind people’s backs,” Zakharova wrote.
This is of course a provocation designed by Ukraine to make peace talks with Russia, as president-elect Donald Trump presumably favors, less possible.
The question for Russia is now how to react to it.
Should it hit back with its whole might and destroy the 'decision making centers' in Kiev who are responsible for this incident? (Note: An accurate definition of 'decision centers' would include the embassies of the U.S. and Great Britain in Kiev.)
Or should it hold back and hope that negotiations about Ukraine with Donald Trump will actually achieve some positive, if temporary, results?
It is a difficult question.
The general configuration of the incoming Trump administration is hawkish.
It is thus highly unlikely, James George Jatras writes, that any agreement which could be seen as positive for Russia will be worth the paper it is written on:
[T]he Russians have made it clear that they will accept no temporary truces, no ceasefires, no more promises made to be broken like piecrusts, no pauses as cynical tricks to get the Russians to forgo their current and growing military advantage. (...) No, they insist, there must be either a genuine, definitive, binding settlement that ensures a lasting peace based on mutual security, or Russian forces will press on until their objectives – notably “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine – are achieved militarily. Such an outcome would mean at least replacement of the current regime in Kiev and, more likely, the end of Ukraine’s statehood. For the West, this would constitute a total debacle of Afghanistan-like proportions effectively signaling the end of US hegemony in Europe, the [Great American Empire’s] crown jewel. What can Trump offer the Russians to avoid that?
...
[T]he real question for the Trump Administration becomes a political one of how much wiggle room there is in the Russians’ stated determination not to rely on more promises of the sort that have been repeatedly broken in the past. Put another way: if Trump-Lucy wants to avoid utter defeat in the European theater of the worldwide confrontation between the GAE and BRICS-Eurasia, so he can get on to mixing it up with Iran and China, can he dupe Putin-Charlie Brown into taking another run at the football?
I think he at least has a good shot at it.
Jatras lists several points that the U.S. could temporarily concede to Russia only to later pull the proverbial football on each of those items.
Russia would of course expect this. But the opening question - to fall for the provocation or to find an alternative way - can also be asked within a larger context.
In 2019 RAND, the Defense Department's think-tank, published the main policy paper that led to the war in Ukraine.
This report examines a range of possible means to extend Russia. As the 2018 National Defense Strategy recognized, the United States is currently locked in a great-power competition with Russia. This report seeks to define areas where the United States can compete to its own advantage. Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data from Western and Russian sources, this report examines Russia's economic, political, and military vulnerabilities and anxieties. It then analyzes potential policy options to exploit them — ideologically, economically, geopolitically, and militarily (including air and space, maritime, land, and multidomain options). After describing each measure, this report assesses the associated benefits, costs, and risks, as well as the likelihood that measure could be successfully implemented and actually extend Russia. Most of the steps covered in this report are in some sense escalatory, and most would likely prompt some Russian counter-escalation.
Arming Ukraine, and pushing it into provoking a Russian intervention, was seen as the most 'profitable' way to weaken the Russian Federation.
By starting the Special Military Operation in Ukraine Russia had actually fallen for the provocation RAND had planned for it. For Russia there was, at that moment, no alternative.
U.S. anti-Russia hawks will try their best to keep Russia bogged down in Ukraine.
But others see the growing danger that a prolonged conflict creates for the West. The economic damage it has caused is already substantial. It is also diverting U.S. capacities from countering China.
Trump's peace allures may thereby become a real alternative for Russia to climb out of the RAND trap.
It is either all in, take Kiev and defeat Ukraine as a state, or take the negotiation route, concede on some issues and agree to an imperfect solution which may (or more likely not) turn out to be permanent.
Russia's president Vladimir Putin, and the circles around him, will have the ponder these difficult questions.

➖One of the Ukrainian commanders anonymously told the publication about this. According to him, only every tenth returned from the SZCh to the army. Now there are not enough people in all units, but in some the situation is critical. The shortage of people is one of the main reasons for the instability of the front.
➖One of the reasons for the mass desertion is the lack of quality training and experience among those mobilized. The commander says that they do not have time to properly train people due to lack of time. Therefore, at the first shelling, they run away.

Will Trump’s promises to pull back from NATO and force peace talks in Ukraine reshape global pow"
Posting this compelling video on the run up to Donald Trump's inauguration in January might seem premature. As Bev Turner points out near the beginnig, many of the issues facing America right now are exactly the same as we are facing in the UK and Europe, ie. control of our borders, financing and backing the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, etc. and the discussion involves DJT's intention to pull out of Ukraine. Gerard Filitti said that (paraphrasing) America has financed and supported many projects worldwide to their own detriment and as a consequence DJT intends to scale back on this kind of support. The first half is about Ukraine and from 12:39 the discussion turns to the Middle East.
