An interesting new analysis from retired General Jack Keane (who a couple of weeks ago on 24 January said that the window for a Russian incursion would be between 20 Feb and mid-March).
He argues that Putin doesn't want 'ownership" of Ukraine, but influence. To force that, he might drive his forces to Kiev (combined with cyberattacks to take down Ukraine's power grid, etc) — and then withdraw again, having gained concessions and agreements.
(My own view: that makes a lot of sense, and would also explain Putin's statements that he didn't intend to invade Ukraine, while accounting for the evident military build-up. And it also explains Biden's much-criticized remarks that the US would not necessarily respond to an "incursion", while an "invasion" might lead to war.)

UK to arm Ukraine with anti-ship missiles – Kiev
The British-supplied missiles will help Kiev counter Russia in the Black and Azov Seas, Ukraine’s UK envoy has claimed.
Britain will supply Kiev with anti-ship missiles to potentially use against the Russian Navy in the Black Sea, Ukraine’s envoy to Britain, Vadim Pristayko, said in an interview with Novoye Radio on Tuesday. The official did not specify what munitions London is sending, nor the date they are set to arrive in Ukraine.
“For the first time, our armed forces, the Navy in particular, will receive real weapons, missiles that will finally enable us to have something against the Russians in the Black and Azov Seas,” the diplomat said.
The upcoming delivery of anti-ship missiles apparently falls under the £1.7 billion ($2.3 billion) deal, reached by London and Kiev last year. Under the agreement, the UK provides Ukraine with a loan, which Kiev has to pay back within 10 years, with the funds set to be spent on navy-related military hardware supplied by Britain. According to Pristayko, the equipment includes two minesweepers that are currently being “refitted” at a dockyard in Scotland, as well as other hardware.
“Our armed forces had never received such serious funds from abroad for their development,” the diplomat said.
Ukraine has enjoyed an uptick in foreign military aid in recent months amid fears of an allegedly looming attack by its neighbor, Russia. The UK has been among the top arms suppliers of Ukraine, sending in a large cache of NLAW shoulder-fired anti-tank missiles back in January, as well as deploying additional military instructors to teach Ukrainian forces to operate the systems.
Western media outlets and top politicians have repeatedly warned of Moscow’s allegedly imminent invasion of Ukraine, which has failed to materialize so far, with no solid evidence of the existence of such plans ever produced. Moscow has consistently rejected seeking to attack Kiev, denying claims that the movement of its troops in the relative vicinity of the Belarusian or Ukrainian border somehow threaten its neighbor.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on Monday revealed the scale of foreign military aid Ukraine has already received.
“Ukraine has gotten more international political and economic support, as well as security,” the top diplomat said. “Over these weeks and months, we have received more than $1.5 billion, and more than 1,000 tons of arms and armaments.”

I will be clear right upfront. I think that countries have a right to their sovereignty and bully countries like Russia have no right to threaten that sovereignty. If Ukraine wants to join NATO that is their business, if they want to join the clown college that is their business. Just because you live next to a bully that was spawned out of 16 years with the KGB does not mean that the world should acquiesce to the bullies demands.
Putin claims the West broke a promise that was made in the 1990s not to expand NATO "even one inch" beyond Germany. Yes, there were discussions about NATO never expanding beyond Germany but this discussion was ultimately dismissed and never incorporated into any agreements or treaty. Even Gorbachev says that the discussion was never of any consequence. I think any reasonable student of history would easily conclude that this concession by NATO would have changed the complexion of Northern Europe, Central Europe and the Balkans. It would have unleashed Putin's empire-building/restoration desires. If Putin could get the world to agree to this lie that he now repeats at every opportunity it would allow him to re-establish the Soviet Union with little pushback. In a melodramatic speech from the Kremlin in April 2005 Putin said the following.

Also never expanding NATO beyond Germany is somewhat ridiculous because several countries that border Russia are already NATO members such as Latvia, Estonia and a host of other countries east of Germany are NATO members. One of the cornerstones of NATOs mission is to provide collective security against the Soviet Union expansion (read empire building). So the thought of stopping any further expansion of NATO beyond Germany makes no sense whatsoever.
President Putin warns that Europe will be dragged into a conflict if Ukraine joins NATO. What a twisted and self-centred view of the world this man has. He stages the largest movement of troops on the planet since WWII, aims hundreds of high powered weapons at strategic targets of his next-door neighbour and has the audacity to tell Europe and the US that it is their fault. Unlike Trudeau, Putin certainly has balls.
Putin has stated on many occasions that the west does not pay attention to him. So in 2008 Putin said he would not say anything of importance (to the west) without taking some sort of action to get their attention. Now because of this childish view, he has painted himself into a corner. He has told the world that he has no desire to invade but after making such a massive show of force he has no choice. His gargantuan ego dictates that he can't back down. So now he must save face by taking some sort of action. There will no doubt be unnecessary loss of life, how much - we can only wait and see.
There will be many that will blame this invasion and loss of life on The USA and Europe but in reality, this is all about Putin, his ego, his desire for an empire and his need to stay in power and relevant to his base in Mother Russia.
On a side note, it always amazes me how far the leaders of countries like Russia, China and others are willing to go no matter the consequences. When you think about it, it is because they have little to no regard for human life.

Don't know if you remember, but there was a channel on youtube named "Anna-News". And they posted an investigation on how the US paid the ISIS terrorist with fake money, the posted a video about it with full proof of the money and other things, then not two hours later the entire channel got removed from youtube :)

There has been a lot, and i mean "a lot" ad nauseam talk about "Russian aggression" and about the 100+ thousand soldiers around Ukraine border
Questions:
1. Point in a very definitive, inclusive and extensive way, what this means
2. Point to me any kind of proof that those soldiers are there and as the US/Uk never stop talking about, imminent invasion. I mean there should be thousands or tanks, rocket launchers, cabins, trucks and all that, right? Where are they? Satellites should have made enough sure to take pictures of them, can you post some of that evidence? I'm sure there is plenty, to have such tremendous and certain claims
3. Logistics, for 100+ thousand soldiers, you need lots of logistics and other things
If you have 100 thousand soldiers, they need to rotate, soldiers are not machines they need to rest somewhere, go out for a while, and someone else has to take over meanwhile, then you need camps for them, and truck foods coming over and out every single day or if not then every week and then you need those giant refrigerators to keep food for a while, then you need special services like hospitals and radars and communications all that stuff

I remember Anna News. Back when LiveLeak existed somebody regularly posted vids under that banner, of Syrian heavies in urban fighting. I recall being fully on the side of the SAA there, due to obvious interference in the country’s affairs by foreign powers by then.
