This artwork is Holy Family (2013) by Sliman Mansour. In it, the Nativity is returned to its soil. The child Christ wears a keffiyeh. Mary is wrapped in a Palestinian thobe. Joseph stands close, and the halos that surround Mary and Joseph curve together into a single heart, holding the child between them.

It is a reminder that Jesus was born among the occupied, the poor, the displaced; that his story did not begin in comfort or power, but under empire, in a land of checkpoints and exile long before those words existed. This Christmas, may peace find those who are denied it most. May light reach Gaza, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and every corner of the Levant.
