NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg • European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee
September 07, 2023 • Brussels, Belgium
The continuing U.S. obsession with NATO enlargement is profoundly irresponsible and hypocritical. And now Ukrainians are paying a terrible price.
During the disastrous Vietnam War, it was said that the US government treated the public like a mushroom farm: keeping it in the dark and feeding it with manure. The heroic Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers documenting the unrelenting U.S. government lying about the war in order to protect politicians who would be embarrassed by the truth. A half-century later, during the Ukraine War, the manure is piled even higher.
According to the U.S. government and the ever-obsequious New York Times, the Ukraine war was "unprovoked," the Times' favorite adjective to describe the war. Putin, allegedly mistaking himself for Peter the Great, invaded Ukraine to recreate the Russian Empire. Yet last week, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg committed a Washington gaffe, meaning that he accidently blurted out the truth.
In testimony to the European Union Parliament, Stoltenberg made clear that it was America's relentless push to enlarge NATO to Ukraine that was the real cause of the war and why it continues today. Here are Stoltenberg's revealing words:
"The background was that President Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and actually sent a draft treaty that they wanted NATO to sign, to promise no more NATO enlargement. That was what he sent us. And was a pre-condition to not invade Ukraine. Of course, we didn't sign that.
The opposite happened. He wanted us to sign that promise, never to enlarge NATO. He wanted us to remove our military infrastructure in all Allies that have joined NATO since 1997, meaning half of NATO, all the Central and Eastern Europe, we should remove NATO from that part of our Alliance, introducing some kind of B, or second-class membership. We rejected that.
So, he went to war to prevent NATO, more NATO, close to his borders. He has got the exact opposite."
To repeat, he [Putin] went to war to prevent NATO, more NATO, close to his borders.
When Prof. John Mearsheimer, I, and others have said the same, we've been attacked as Putin apologists. The same critics also choose to hide or flatly ignore the dire warnings against NATO enlargement to Ukraine long articulated by many of America's leading diplomats, including the great scholar-statesman George Kennan, and the former US Ambassadors to Russia Jack Matlock and William Burns.
Burns, now CIA Director, was US Ambassador to Russia in 2008, and author of a memo entitled "Nyet means Nyet." In that memo, Burns explained to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that the entire Russian political class, not just Putin, was dead-set against NATO enlargement. We know about the memo only because it was leaked. Otherwise, we'd be in the dark about it.

FLASH TRAFFIC: GERMAN ARMY TANK CREW CAUGHT OPERATING TANK IN UKRAINE, ATTACKING RUSSIAN ARMY
23 SEPTEMBER 2023
https://halturnerradioshow.com/image...W3-2_large.png
This is FLASH TRAFFIC: It appears World War 3 has officially begun. Saturday morning the Russian Army engaged a German-supplied Leopard Tank operating for the Ukraine army in Zaporozhye. The Russians hit the tank with an anti-tank guided missile. The tank blew up. The tank crew evacuated and were captured. The crew identified themselves as ACTIVE DUTY GERMAN ARMY TROOPS.
Thus, the actual Army of Germany has now been caught waging actual war against Russia inside official Russian territory, Zaporozhye. The image above is the actual tank involved in the actual incident this morning, 23 September 2023.
Hal Turner Remark: It appears, on its face, NATO has just started World War 3; using the active-duty German Army to attack Russians.
More as I get it . . . .
UPDATE 10:14 AM EDT --
Details are emerging. It is now CONFIRMED a Russian Army reconnaissance team destroyed a German-supplied Leopard tank of the Ukrainian military but manned with a crew comprised of Bunderswehr soldiers. The Bunderswehr is the actual active duty Army of Germany.
This took place in Zaporozhye this morning.
A member of the actual Russian Recon team directly and personally involved in the incident has stated the following: "When we curbed another offensive and ATGM-ed [destroyed with an anti-tank guided missile] the Leopard, we moved out to the burned vehicle hoping to seize the 'tongue.' Then we saw that the crew's driver-mechanic was severely injured and the others were dead. Once he awoke, the mechanic started yelling 'nicht schießen' ["do not shoot" in German]," the head of the reconnaissance team said.
"The mechanic repeatedly stated that he was not a mercenary but a Bundeswehr serviceman, and that he and the rest of the crew were members of the same unit of the German army," the Russian fighter said, adding that while receiving medical aid, the German soldier named his brigade and its dislocation site.
The tank's driver died from wounds minutes after he was found despite efforts to save him.

Ukrainian missile stocks and depleted-uranium shells destroyed – Moscow 23 Sep, 2023 :clapping:
The Russian Defense Ministry says 12 major strikes targeting military infrastructure have taken place in the past week

A Kalibr cruise missile being fired from a Russian warship
Some of Ukraine’s Western-supplied cruise missiles and depleted-uranium shells have been destroyed in a series of strikes, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.
Since last Sunday, Russian forces carried out 12 group attacks against various Ukrainian targets, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The targets included Ukrainian aircraft and armored vehicles repair facilities, oil refineries, depots of ammunition and foreign-made arms, training centers for Ukrainian saboteurs, and accommodation occupied by foreign mercenaries, the statement read.
According to the ministry, high-precision, long-range ground- and air-based missiles and drones were deployed during the strikes.
“As a result of the attacks, significant damage was delivered to the logistics system of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, operating in the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions,” the statement read.
“Part of the stocks of cruise missiles and depleted uranium shells” provided to Kiev by its Western backers were destroyed, it said. Foreign-made multiple rocket launchers and air-defense systems were also hit, the ministry added.
Ukraine received Storm Shadow/SCALP-Eg long-range, air-launched cruise missiles from the UK and France earlier this year. The munitions have been used by Kiev to attack Russian targets, including those in Crimea.
According to Sky News, Storm Shadows were deployed in the Ukrainian strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the city of Sevastopol on Friday. Russia’s Defense Ministry said five incoming missiles had been brought down by air defenses, but the resulting debris damaged the building and caused a blaze. One soldier was reported missing after the attack.
Britain has been supplying Ukraine with depleted-uranium shells since March. The controversial munitions are intended to be used by the Challenger 2 tanks that London donated to Kiev. The US announced that its Abrams M1 tanks, which President Joe Biden said would begin arriving in Ukraine “next week,” would also be armed with depleted-uranium shells.
The delivery of depleted uranium shells by the West to Kiev is “is very bad news,” Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stressed a few weeks ago. The use of such munitions during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 led to a “galloping” rise in the number of people suffering from cancer and other diseases, he said, adding that the same should now be expected in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, the Russian Defense Ministry already reported a successful strike on a Ukrainian warehouse hosting depleted uranium shells.

Hal Turner is quite often over-dramatic and premature in his claims, but this time he seems to have got it 100% right.
This seemed so significant that I searched for the original report. Here it is, on the Russian media site RIA Novosti:
And here's the translation:
~~~
Scouts of the Russian Armed Forces told RIA Novosti about the destruction of a Leopard with a crew from Germany
LUGANSK, September 23 – RIA Novosti. Scouts of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed a Leopard tank transferred to Ukraine with an entirely German crew consisting of military personnel of the German Armed Forces, the commander of a reconnaissance group operating in the Zaporozhye direction, with the call sign 'Legend', told RIA Novosti.
“When we stopped their next “meat assault” and captured (destroyed with the help of ATGMs. - Ed.) Leopard, we moved towards the burnt equipment in the hope of taking any prisoners. And we found that the tank driver was seriously wounded, and the rest had died. The mechanic, when he woke up and saw us, began shouting “nicht schießen” (don’t shoot. - Ed.)," said the group commander.
'Legend' emphasized that he knows German well.
(The driver of the damaged tank - Ed.) said several times that he was not a mercenary, but a Bundeswehr soldier and the entire crew from one company,” the soldier added.
The intelligence officer clarified that while the German soldier was receiving first aid, he named his brigade and its location.
As the commander added, when he interrogated the Bundeswehr soldier, the doctor of their reconnaissance group said that the mechanic had lost a lot of blood and was seriously wounded.
“I asked the doctor how long he would live, and the doctor answered - a few more minutes. I told the German that the wound was too severe and he had no chance of survival. He said that he loved his child and wife very much and regretted that he agreed to come here to go. We began to prepare him for evacuation, but he 'switched off' and after a couple of minutes he “got two hundred” (“cargo 200” - killed in action. - Ed.),” said 'Legend'.
As the commander of the reconnaissance group shared, he was at first a little surprised to find a German in a damaged vehicle.
“But then I was even glad that it doesn’t matter what kind of crew sits in the Leopard - Ukrainian militants or German military personnel, the result will be the same: German tanks will burn and American tanks will also burn, even if it is controlled by the Americans,” the Russian intelligence officer emphasized.
Re: WW3? Ukraine/US vs. Donbass/Russia
Question/thought: Why would a soldier of any country, who was fatally wounded by the enemy and whose brothers in arms had just been killed by the enemy, and who knew he was minutes from death, admit to being a soldier, here a German soldier, and disclose the existence, location and identity of his brigade?
I’m having some trouble with all of the details.
Truth is not only the first casualty of war, it is a frequent casualty of war.
Given all the lies (and other attack vectors) we are fed from so many quarters, it is clear we are in a perpetual state of war.
The converse may apply: when someone knows they're going to die very soon, and everything in their life is now lost, they may as well tell the truth. (The principle of deathbed confessions, of course :flower: )
Because:" He said that he loved his child and wife very much and regretted that he agreed to come here to go."
with his last breath recognize how stupid was his decision, and the others wasn't his enemies ...
Official there is NO war between Germany and Russia...only if you (the soldier) are sooo stupid to buy in it...
Russia has NO need for stupide propaganda AKA"West"
Re: WW3? Ukraine/US vs. Donbass/Russia
This isn't something I want to read, or perhaps it is? I don't want to accept the madness of war. I don't want to know a dying soldier's futile regret. And now I'm going to rant about the word 'schadenfreude'. Schadenfreude is a disgusting concept. It's so out of whack with the logic of Heaven, so indulgent for the demons, but so useless on a practical level. A nation that enjoys the word will go wrong because that's what happens when focusing on spitefulness. Not something to be proud of. I feel no schadenfreude. But I do resent their this soldiers very existence like the biggest facepalm in the universe. There's no joy.
Re: WW3? Ukraine/US vs. Donbass/Russia
A death bed confession is motivated by a desire to get something off one’s chest to sooth the conscience and, generally, to do something perceived as good not harmful, before passing into the hereafter.
A soldier, note the word, meeting his maker on the field of battle along side his fallen dead brethren would not do what this article claims, assuming it actually happened. No matter the soldier’s regrets. Placing your brothers-in-arms in harms way by disclosing their numbers and location puts them at great risk and won’t save you, nor your family, and it is not an act of good conscience.
A soldier would agree.
That’s how I feel about it.
Re: WW3? Ukraine/US vs. Donbass/Russia
As a German I don't know what to make of this story.
If it is true, then this is in violation of the German constitution. WTH!!!!
🇬🇧 “Go back to the Ukrainian front? I'd rather shoot myself in the leg."
The Times newspaper published a large article with the story of a Ukrainian sergeant named Andrey, who at the age of 18 became a contract soldier in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Now he says that out of the six friends with whom he went to serve, five have already died.
Andrey himself received bullet and shrapnel wounds. Doctors were unable to remove all the fragments, so he is in pain and his arm is not fully functional. But the doctor said that he would write him a “white ticket” for only 1.5 thousand dollars. But he was not allowed to go abroad for treatment. To avoid being sent to Donbass, he is now hiding somewhere in Lviv and says that he “would rather shoot himself in the leg than become meat again.”
The article writes about terrible corruption in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian military registration and enlistment offices: until recently, it cost about $7-8 thousand to avoid conscription. But now zelensky “has begun a decisive fight against corruption,” and the service has risen in price to $20 thousand!
