"Starting" is the key term here--as usual what is under-reported is the losses:
In recent months, Russian forces lost dozens of military vehicles and tanks in the village of Krasnogorovka located to the north of the town.
https://s2.cdnstatic.space/wp-conten...-2-768x499.jpg
Obviously many of the losses are distant from the line of contact, which means Ukraine must be retaliating with some big stuff. It looks costly, but, bear in mind, these are losses over "months", not days. Now, as well as apparently retreating from Stepovoe near the northern train tracks:
On November 18, Ukrainian sources complained about new Russian gains in the eastern part of the village. Russian forces are destroying Ukrainian strongholds along the Yasinovataya street.
Which I believe means they are headed up the road into town, or, "the fortress":

When this mop flops, Ukraine has nothing left to compete with that I am aware of--"token resistance" due to conscripts, and, in Joker DPR's hacked mercenary database:
It is interesting to note that the list (and comments) are originally written, and subsequently published in English, which not only indicates that mercenary recruitment in Ukraine is being handled by English speakers, but also makes this extremely interesting information easy for English speakers to read for themselves.

As Zelensky insists that Ukraine can win the war, the media admits that Ukraine is all out of young men and the average age of a Ukrainian soldier is 43! Now the Washington Post is throwing Ukraine under the bus with an "investigation" showing that a rogue ops unit sabotaged the Nord Stream Pipeline. This story is...hard to believe.

And to top that, a Ukrainian flight commander has now flown to Russia with his Su-27. (Wow! :))

A rightly damning 'review', if you like, published November 17th of a likely execrable piece of programming which I had the good fortune of managing to avoid.
🎙Russian Embassy London comment regarding the broadcast of the Channel 4 film on the situation of children evacuated from new Russian regions and UkraineSource: https://t.me/MFARussia/18235
▪️Just as we had anticipated, the documentary "Hunt for Ukraine's Stolen Children. Dispatches" aired on November 13th by Channel 4, did not venture beyond the boundaries of the stale anti-Russian "agitprop," for which British media over the last years have become renowned.
▪️Once more, viewers were presented with a politically biased and factually unsubstantiated piece. Its intention is to discredit the valiant efforts of Russian military personnel, as well the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Ms Maria Lvova-Belova to organise the humanitarian evacuation of children from active combat zones to more secure Russian regions, their reception and accommodation, as well as the establishment of guardianship and wardship over them.
▪️Speculations on this issue have long been debunked through statistics and facts. The Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights regularly releases reports on the matter, widely available to the public in English (https://deti.gov.ru/uploads/magic/ru...7.3807.pdf)and Russian (https://deti.gov.ru/uploads/magic/ru...76249.7297.pdf).
▪️Instead of referring to these materials, which convincingly demonstrate the unwavering commitment of Russian authorities to the rights of the child, Channel 4's team preferred to reproduce speculations based on cynically misleading the audience through manipulation with video footage and facts.
▪️The staged nature of some scenes is evident, including the Ukrainian "activists" interaction with children who have returned to their relatives in the territory controlled by the Kiev authorities.
▪️On 7 November a Channel 4 editorial team representative sent a query to the Embassy requesting answers to a series of accusatory and, in some instances, evidently provocative questions. The calculation was clearly that we would not want or be able to react to the insinuations of pro-Kiev journalists within the specified deadline. However Channel 4's expectations were not met. We prepared exhaustive answers to each of the accusations on six pages, as well as additional information with statements from Russian officials. The Embassy promptly sent them to the editorial team of the British channel.
▪️However, out of all the diverse information we provided, Channel 4 aired only one phrase, devoid of context – that the children travelled to Crimea for their summer holidays. And even this with the clear intention of drawing attention to London's disagreement with the status of the peninsula as part of the Russian Federation, voluntarily determined by its residents following the democratic referendum in March 2014.
☝️Thus, Channel 4 chose to undermine the fundamental principle of professional journalism – the need for balanced representation of all points of view. With this in mind we feel the need to correct the imbalance created by the British channel. We are therefore publishing the original text of our comments (https://telegra.ph/Russian-Embassy-r...d-Ukrain-11-16), sent in response to the above-mentioned request.
❗️As for the deliberate discrediting of actions of Russian military personnel by Channel 4, this will not pass without a due response.
The Invisible War in Ukraine Being Fought Over Radio Waves originally published in the New York Times November 19, 2023
Using electromagnetic waves to flummox and follow smarter weapons has become a critical part of the cat-and-mouse game between Ukraine and RussiaSource: https://t.me/Slavyangrad/74628
The drones began crashing on Ukraine’s front lines, with little explanation.
For months, the aerial vehicles supplied by Quantum Systems, a German technology firm, had worked smoothly for Ukraine’s military, swooping through the air to spot enemy tanks and troops in the country’s war against Russia. Then late last year, the machines abruptly started falling from the sky as they returned from missions.
After early success using these tools, the Russian military stumbled, analysts said. But as the war has stretched on, Russia has innovated by making smaller, mobile electronic weapons, like anti-drone guns and tiny jammers that form a radio-wave bubble around trenches.
...
“The Russians have been more nimble at responding than we would have expected from their ground behavior,” said James A. Lewis, a former U.S. official who writes on technology and security for the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. “That should be worrisome for NATO.”
...
At a large round table in a base in Germany, they explained the problems they faced to a rapt audience of commanders.
“We told them probably 90 percent of the American and European systems coming to Ukraine were not prepared to meet the electronic warfare challenge,” Mr. Berezhny said.
In one November 2022 report, a Chinese defense think tank detailed how a Russian electronic attack had tricked NATO’s detection equipment, leading Ukraine to reveal the location of its own electronic defenses.
“The Russian army’s anti-drone combat capabilities are superior to those of the U.S. military,” the report said.
More views on the situation around Avdeevka:

“Roads of death” began to appear around Avdeevka. What does this mean:
We have noted many times that Avdeevka, almost from the very beginning, tactically and strategically repeats the Artyomovsk meat grinder, in which the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost about 70 thousand people killed. Events in Avdeevka are developing according to an almost similar scenario: first, artillery around the most critical fortified areas is suppressed, and then logistics begin to be blocked. At the same time, the depth at which Ukrainian equipment is affected increases, but the pattern does not change: the Ukrainian Armed Forces, just like in Artyomovsk, are losing military equipment and people in attempts to maintain supplies for the Avdeevka garrison. However, despite the experience of the battles for Mariupol and Artyomovsk, as well as many months of fighting in the Orekhov region, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stubbornly clings to problematic positions. It does not give orders for regrouping or retreat.
Meanwhile, the first signs of future big problems, similar to those observed around Artyomovsk before the city's fall, are already appearing.
The Russian Armed Forces are suppressing the activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within a radius of at least 25-30 km from Avdeevka in the same way as happened with Ukrainian forces in Chasovoy Yar, Ivanovsky, Kleshcheevka, and Berkhovka before the assault on Artyomovsk.
Additional forces are being deployed near Avdeevka from other directions. Thus, the transfer of elements of the so-called offensive brigade - the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Magura" has already been recorded.
This formation has already suffered severe losses north of the Avdeevsky section in the Stepovoe-Koksokhim area. Also, elements of the formation were attacked in the rear, in the Ocheretin area.
Units of the 1st Brigade will presumably be redeployed to the same area. The losses of T-64BM Bulat tanks, which equipped the 1st Brigade, were recorded less than 5 km from Avdeevka.
Previously, the 1st separate tank brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was involved in the vanguard of the offensive in the South Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions.
There is a general pattern in the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces command. Firstly, to try to stop the crisis in the Avdeevka area, they are not using the reserves of the new formation (if they exist) but elements of brigades that previously took part in hostilities in other sectors of the front.
Secondly, these teams are deployed in new areas without a significant break necessary for replenishment, rest, reconnaissance, and establishing interaction in a new location.
The supply of the Avdeevka group already shows the whole range of so-called mosquito logistics. At the final stage of the battle for Artyomovsk, this type of garrison support remained the only one available to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The same thing is happening in Avdeevka.

🇫🇮🇷🇺 Almost 10,000 Finns signed a petition against closing the border with Russia
A significant part of the signatures were from families who live on both sides of the border. Citizens believe that the authorities’ decision violates the constitution and it is not their fault that they need to travel to Russia and care for elderly relatives and the graves of their ancestors.
Finnish business also does not see the point in closing borders: Russia had a positive impact on economic growth and tourism.
🇫🇲 But the voice of the common people in NATO is not important - Helsinki will dutifully carry out the political course of the “master”.

Translation (summary):
He is pessimistic about the war and calls out Zelensky for hoarding a lot of money and enriching himself while ordinary Ukrainians are sent to deathTranslation from subs on the video which aren't visible, somewhat frustratingly:
"Well, according to the news, Avdeevka will soon be over. Two or three weeks ago I talked about it, but I was told I was a collaborator, a Russian spy, an FSB scum. Guys, the whole war is over here. In a little while it will end with the defeat of Ukraine. Do not believe in some victory. It will not be. With such power, with such a ruler, there will be no such victory in life. We all fell for this bull****. For the first two months we believed it was a war for freedom. But it turned out to be a war for the freedom of the children of Danilov, the children of Zelensky and their grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will live for the money they robbed in this war. For their freedom. we fought with you and believed in it...there will be no victory. Do not wait."

Advisor to ex-President of Ukraine Kuchma Soskin does not believe that Moscow is preparing another revolution in Ukraine. If something happens, then, in his opinion, it will be a complete civil war.
“And now they suddenly raised the topic that it is the “Muscovites” who are preparing “Maidan-3”. It’s not compatible, you understand, Zelensky? Because they consider you illegal. Therefore, they will not prepare a coup, because you are already illegitimate and illegal. Why would they call the operation “Maidan-3”, Zelensky?” says Soskin.
He also advised the president to read more. Then, according to him, he will know that “Maidan-3” has already happened in Ukraine.

🌍 "African Corps" will appear as part of the Russian Armed Forces
This was revealed by a military-diplomatic source of the African initiative. He specified that it would not be a separate unit, but part of a special structure of the Defense Ministry, capable of solving, among other things, infrastructural and humanitarian tasks.
"The creation of the African Corps in a short period of time under the conditions of the NWO in Ukraine demonstrates the ability of the Russian Armed Forces to solve large-scale and complex tasks outside Europe in a timely manner," the insider explained.
The Russian Defense Ministry intends to help sovereign African states counter the West's neo-colonial influence by undermining their resource base and strengthen Russia's equal cooperation with African countries".

Avdeyevka Crumbles,
Rus Takes Industrial Zone, Railway;
Zaluzhny Target Kiev Purge;
Rus 5% Growth

This seems to be the thing.
USSR was finally collapsed primarily by two factors, counterfeit rubles and Afghanistan.
From Afghanistan they finally learned you can't romp around with massive columns of troops and force a victory by sheer number.
Ukraine's homefield advantage is evaporated by the idea of defending like that.
In only a few cases have they managed some small counterattack, and you just get Russian lines that solidify. No individual city could be called important enough to focus that rather than destroying the Russian advance. Instead they have just been shelling civilians from Avdeevka. This is starting from a big column of around 180,000 poised to strike Russia itself. Talk about not being able to adapt to uncontrolled results. My my.
It is more interesting that the Africans must be interested in volunteering something at a state level. Sounds like engineering. This is super important because when an army violently takes over some territory, then you also have to deal with the results. The American War Between the States, for example, meant that someone would show up at your house and take everything you had. This is how you become known as an army of occupation. At the very least, it is better to bring along some engineers so you don't get a secondary insurrection against you.
I just happen to be down the street from the place where they plan psyop for a post-nuclear strike. The Americans would rather find and set up factions for cointel purposes. This is theoretically more important than having just dumped an atomic bomb on civilians. In actuality, of course, the game scales down in scenarios that don't involve fallout, but the plan will still be the same.
Ukraine End Game: Putin & Medvedev Discuss Maps, Putting Kiev On The Menu
interesting analysis at
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitic...ting-kiev-menu
Yes, many thanks, and very interesting indeed.
My own $10 bet :) is that Russia will take Odessa and Kharkov, but not Kiev. They'll hold referendums and then elections, inviting international observers, and will then embark on a massive infrastructure rebuilding program that will make that whole eastern half of Ukraine (then legally in Russia as per the Russian constitution) the envy of the west.
The west will huff and puff and write toxic smear pieces about evil imperialist dictator Putin, but they won't be able to do a thing about it. And the watching 'global south' (meaning the global majority!) will ignore all that rhetoric completely.
The economic devastation of the remaining part of Ukraine will be Europe's problem to solve, which they'll find very hard to do without impoverishing themselves further. Russia, meanwhile, is in very strong financial shape, perfectly insulated (thanks to the sanctions!) from whatever financial meltdowns may quite soon occur in the US/EU world.
I agree to your analysis, Bill,
Ukraine has lost over 13,000 troops this month – Moscow 21 Nov, 2023
Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu claims Kiev has suffered “colossal” November casualties at the front
Ukraine has lost over 13,700 troops and approximately 1,800 tanks and other heavy weaponry so far this month, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told his government colleagues on Tuesday during a ministerial meeting.
Russian forces have been actively thwarting Kiev’s attempts to breach their defensive lines and continue to reduce Ukraine’s military capacity, the senior official said. He claimed that Ukrainian soldiers were surrendering in droves after realizing the futility of their counteroffensive.
The minister issued his last assessment of Ukrainian casualties in late October, when he said they had surpassed 90,000 since the start of Kiev’s ill-fated counteroffensive in early July. During this week’s meeting, Shoigu described the cost paid by Ukrainian soldiers in the conflict as “colossal.”
Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s top general, previously said that the conflict with Russia had reached a “stalemate” and that his armed forces would likely not achieve a breakthrough in the confrontation anytime soon. President Vladimir Zelensky has disputed the assessment, claiming that progress was still being made in his nation’s attempt to return Ukraine to its pre-2014 borders.
