This morning, the Ukrainian Army, funded, trained, and directed by NATO, bombed a civilian market in Donbas with nineteen (19) 155mm NATO shells. The death toll in the Ukrainian terrorist attack on Donetsk has reached 25 people.

Information about 25 deaths has been confirmed.

At least 20 more people were injured, including two children in moderate condition.

All victims are provided with the necessary medical care. Among them are the seriously wounded, many with penetrating wounds in the area of vital organs and traumatic amputation of limbs.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued the following statement:

"The shelling of the Russian city of Donetsk, which has claimed the lives of at least 25 civilians and wounded 20 others, is “a barbaric terrorist act” carried out by Ukraine with the support of the West, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has said. It has been established that Sunday's bombardment of a busy market in the capital of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic was inflicted with weapons supplied to Kiev by the US and its allies, the ministry said in a statement.

“This again confirms [the West’s] direct involvement in the conflict and makes it complicit in the criminal acts of the Zelensky regime, which has once again displayed its inhumanity and hatred towards innocent people,” it said.

“The West’s unrestrained desire to inflict a ‘strategic defeat’ on Russia through the hands of their Ukrainian puppets, whom it is eager to support mindlessly and without limit, is pushing the Kiev regime to increasingly reckless steps, including acts of terrorism, massive violations of international humanitarian law, and war crimes,” the ministry added.

Stockpiling arms and ammunition in Ukraine makes “little sense” due to the ability of Russian forces to effectively identify and strike such locations, Kiev’s air force spokesman has admitted. Yury Ignat also warned that US-made F-16 fighter jets could become “a good target” for Moscow if supplied to Ukraine.

Kiev has increasingly complained about a lack of ammunition supplies from the West in recent months. However, speaking to local media outlet Focus on Saturday, Ignat suggested that the Ukrainian military would not be able to stockpile large quantities of ammunition anyway, due to the threat of it being swiftly destroyed by Russia.

“We cannot take a huge number of missiles,” Ignat said, commenting on stockpiles for air defense systems. “One has to store them somewhere and the enemy will know about it sooner or later.”

The air force spokesman also admitted that it made “little sense to place entire ammunition depots in Ukraine” since Russian intelligence was effective at identifying such locations. This was also true for F-16 fighter jets, he stated, asking: “Will they just arrive here and become a good target for the enemy?”

Western countries announced the creation of a coalition to help Ukraine procure F-16 fighter jets and train pilots to fly the warplanes last year, and the first deliveries are expected later in 2024. The Netherlands and Denmark have spearheaded the effort, promising to donate up to 61 of the aircraft. Earlier in January, Ignat warned that operating both US-made and Soviet-era warplanes would be an “extremely difficult” challenge for Ukrainian troops.

Speaking on Saturday, the air force spokesman also admitted that Ukrainian air defenses would still be ineffective against Russian offensive capabilities regardless of Western supplies, citing the sheer number of S-300 missiles that Moscow possesses, making it impossible to shoot them all down. The Soviet-made S-300 systems are primarily designed for air defense and are capable of intercepting both cruise and ballistic missiles as well as shooting down aircraft. At the same time, they can also potentially be used to strike ground targets.

As part of a special military operation, Russian soldiers tested a new invention by domestic developers - special camouflage capes designed to protect against enemy thermal imagers. Testing of this equipment is reported to be completed in January.

New camouflage cloaks have a number of advantages. Firstly, they are lightweight - only 350 grams, which makes them easy to transport by placing them in your pocket. Secondly, the material of the capes is impregnated with a special composition that effectively shields human thermal radiation.

The effectiveness of the raincoats was demonstrated during night video filming in the forest. Slovakia called on Ukraine to give up lost territories 2024-01-22

The head of the Slovak government, Robert Fico, made a statement about the impossibility of the Russian Federation leaving Crimea and Donbass. According to Fico, Ukraine should give up the already lost territories.

“There has to be some kind of compromise. What do they expect, that the Russians will leave Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk? This is unreal", the prime minister is quoted as saying.

🇫🇷🪖 The son of a brigadier general of the French army was killed by a strike by the Russian Armed Forces at a point of temporary deployment of foreign mercenaries in Kharkov. His partner (also killed) came from a hereditary military dynasty in France.

According to Mash, the name of the Frenchman eliminated by a high-precision strike is Sabastien Claude Remy Benard. He served in the RICM (formerly the Moroccan Colonial Infantry Regiment) in the Marine Light Armor unit. For reference: it was these groups that equipped the famous AMX-10RC wheeled tanks, which Paris proudly sent to Kiev as military aid. The remaining 60 killed and about 20 wounded mercenaries are recognized activists of Nazi groups in France and other EU countries. Each of them served in the army and even belonged to a battalion of alpine hunters. Many were fired for inappropriate behavior, after which they left for Ukraine. NATO's Steadfast Defender Exercises Threaten Europe's Security

Rather than try to de-escalate the already high tensions in Europe, the Western military bloc NATO proudly announced its intent to launch massive military exercises in the region involving around 90,000 troops.



Dubbed Steadfast Defender 2024, the exercises are going to be held as NATO becomes increasingly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, providing the regime in Kiev with weapons, mercenaries and intelligence to attack Russian territories and people.
As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has explained, these military exercises are “another element of the hybrid war unleashed by the West against Russia,” with any event of such magnitude increasing the risk of “military incidents” and further destabilizing security in the region.

There appear to be several goals that NATO seeks to accomplish through Steadfast Defender 2024, explained Mikael Valtersson, a former Swedish Armed Forces officer, defense politician and chief of staff with the Sweden Democrats party.


“One of these goals is training NATO soldiers to “fight Russian forces,” Valtersson said, noting that while the exercises' official narrative is about repelling an invasion, it seems more like preparation “for the eventuality of military missions into Ukraine, Belarus or Moldova.”

“Another purpose is to send a psychological message to assure the eastern NATO countries that NATO takes their security seriously,” he continued. “A third purpose is to tell Russia that NATO is ready and capable to act if they must.”
According to Valtersson, a lot of people in the West actually believe in a “possible Russian attack towards European NATO countries in a couple of years,” with this fear being further reinforced by “alarmist statements from leading Western politicians and military leaders.”
“This creates a Russophobic war mentality that easily might lead to escalation and the conflict they have predicted,” he remarked.

Valtersson also pointed out that, while usually conducting military exercises poses no security risks as such events are a “normal part of military life,” holding large-scale drills “near the borders of countries you perceive as enemies” may result in dangerous mistakes being made.
“When both sides are high-strung and look for potential aggressive behavior from the other side, one mistake could quickly lead to escalation. If you really want to de-escalate tensions, you should avoid large-scale exercises near the borders of your adversaries,” he said. “These kind of exercises do nothing to dampen tension between Russia and NATO. It is, in fact, rather a part of an ongoing escalation process, which is bad for the security of Europe.”
The emerging new Cold War “between the West and mainly China and Russia” and the West alienating many countries of the Global South by trying to force them to oppose Russia over the Ukrainian crisis may ultimately divide the world into two competing blocs, “the West and the rest,” Valtersson warned.
“The difference with the first Cold War will be that the non-Western bloc will be incredibly stronger in size, economy, population and even diversity than during the first Cold War,” Valtersson added. “This conflict could be easily avoided if the West had accepted that they can't dominate the entire globe and that other major powers have their own spheres of interest.”

US mercenaries in panic mode as Ukraine funding dries up

A group of American mercenaries fighting in Ukraine traveled to Washington, DC this week to lobby the US Congress for a new military aid package to Ukraine, according to The Hill.

Several mercenaries told the newspaper that the Ukrainian military was experiencing serious weapons and equipment shortages, along with low morale on the front lines. One of the biggest problems, they said, was countering Russia’s growing arsenal of drones.

“The operation I got hurt on, when I looked up in the sky, there were just drones everywhere, they were all over the place,” said Jumbo, a former US Marine who was wounded during the Ukrainian counteroffensive last year.

Family of US Mercenary Killed in Ukraine Can Not Return His Remains Back Home - Reports

Former Marine Ethan Hertweck was killed in Ukraine in early December, just several days before the end of his contract, the report said. However, his remains are still in the same place where he died during the attack of the Russian forces near the city of Avdeyevka.
Hertweck’s body still lays under rubble and ice, it added.

The mercenary’s mother, Leslie Hertweck, said that, officially, her son is on record as missing in action (MIA). However, the report pointed out that there is at least one witness who saw how he died.
The family said they made multiple attempts to receive Ethan’s body, but all of them were unsuccessful. Relatives do not rule out that Ukraine will have to get his body during an exchange with Russia in order to send it back to the US. The report stressed that this process may take months.
Hertweck, 37, began serving in Ukraine in early 2023. He served as a military medic, according to the report.

The report also said that he is not the only US mercenary that died in Ukraine since Russia began its military operation in February 2022, there are “dozens” of US citizens who have reportedly died in the battlefield, it added.
Earlier, Kremlin has issued a statement where it clearly outlined that foreign mercenaries fighting in Ukraine would become a legitimate target for the Russian armed forces, thus warning against joining the conflict.

Russian engineer troops: ‘Unique’ forces that helped crush Ukraine’s 2023 counteroffensive - analyst

The skill of these specialized soldiers added greatly to the flop of Ukraine’s counteroffensive last year, retired colonel and veteran military analyst Viktor Litovkin told Sputnik.

“The minefields installed by Russian combat engineers proved unassailable for Ukraine’s Western-supplied modern military equipment, such as the Leopard-2 tanks,” Litovkin said.

He stressed that the Russian special military operation helps the country’s engineer forces further improve their skill as they successfully overcome combat missions in the Ukraine conflict. Litovkin remained upbeat about the future of what he touted as “unique” Russian engineer troops, whose work he said would be based on “new physical principles”.

Touching upon the military hardware used by the Russian combat engineers, he referred to the Uran-9 remotely-controlled demining system and the UR-77 mine clearing complex, commonly known as Zmey Gorynych (a three-headed firedrake mentioned in Russian folklore).

Additionally, Litovkin mentioned the so-called smart mines, which are designed to self-destruct or self-deactivate depending on sappers’ plans.

January 21 marks the Day of Engineer Troops, one of the oldest branches of the Russian Armed Forces. On that day in 1701, Tsar Peter the Great signed a decree to create a school to train artillery officers and military engineers in Moscow.

French volunteers from the SOS Donbass organization have provided Sputnik with a list of 13 French mercenaries who were in Kharkov during the Russian attack on the base and whose fate - alive or dead - is being clarified.

The list of mercenaries includes Albert Emerick (born on December 22, 1999), Alexis Drion (June 13, 1986), Beranger Guillaume Alain Minot (December 30, 1978), Charles Bertin Roussel (September 1, 1996), Emmanuel Tanguy Kenneth Delange Grandal (September 26, 1998), Gilles Bernard Sylvain (October 27, 1980), Jacques-Pierre Gabriel Evrard Philippe (September 29, 1987).

Also on the list are Jean-Pierre Bono Chris Ayre (07/17/1999), Marceline Demon (05/23/2002), Maurice Andre Dubois Clement (09/28/1995), Sabastien Claude Remy Benard (04/04/1974), Thomas Jeremy Nathan Gourrier (02/24/1996) and Valentin Dupois Mehl (01/02/1994).

The list is not exhaustive, there may have been other mercenaries in the area during the strike.

Poland has won concessions from the EU in its fight to limit food exports from Ukraine, the Financial Times reported.
Brussels will control the influx of agricultural products if it risks leading to lower prices in Poland and other nearby countries, the paper said, citing a senior trade official of the bloc.

Poland and Hungary unilaterally banned imports of Ukrainian products in April 2023 in response to widespread protests by farmers against cheap exports from Ukraine, which caused grain glut in their domestic markets. The ban violated the EU's common trade law.
