Here We Go Again… Experts Call for Universal Booster Campaign Amid Claims Pirola Variant “Could Overwhelm NHS”

Here we go again. According to the Mail, “experts” (from Independent SAGE, naturally) have called for everyone to be eligible for another Covid booster amid fears the new “concerning” Pirola Covid variant could overwhelm the NHS.

Some pharmacies have also already run out of Covid tests, as health officials urged Brits to stay alert to the new strain.

It comes less than 24 hours after health officials U-turned again on the autumn Covid and flu jab drive start date, bringing it forwards from October to September 11th.

And in another sign the authorities are taking the heavily mutated strain, Pirola, known scientifically as BA.2.86, more seriously, officials also confirmed Covid testing and community surveillance would be “scaled up” ahead of this winter.

But MPs today called for calm and warned against “running down any rabbit holes of fear”.

There is currently no evidence that Pirola is any more of a threat than the dozens of strains that have come before it.

But scientists have called for a return of pandemic mitigation measures, including mask wearing, and increased ventilation because of the virus’ resurgence.

Dr. Trisha Greenhalgh, an internationally-renowned expert in primary care [and noted Covid alarmist], based at the University of Oxford, also suggested everyone should be made eligible for a jab.

The professor, who is also a member of Independent SAGE, a group of academics that called for No. 10 to adopt an Australian-style Covid elimination strategy early on in the pandemic, tweeted: “Might be a good idea to vaccinate everyone.”

Others have instead urged Ministers to re-consider vaccine eligibility criteria, after the Government ditched plans earlier this month to offer the jabs to under-65s this winter.

Professor Lawrence Young, a virologist at Warwick University, told MailOnline: “It stresses the need to keep an eye on Covid infections as we enter the autumn and winter.

“With people returning to work and schools reopening after the summer break, we need to raise awareness of the risks of infection particularly for the most vulnerable.

“The Government should expedite the autumn vaccination campaign and extend this to people below the age of 65.

The European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) has officially gone into effect. Starting on August 25th, 2023, tech giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon, and more must comply with sweeping legislation that holds online platforms legally accountable for the content posted to them.

Even though this new law was passed in the EU, we’ll likely see far-reaching global effects as companies adjust their policies to comply.

Initially, there will be 19 giant online platforms that will be forced to comply with this new law…

Ranging from social media platforms to online marketplaces and search engines, the list so far includes: Facebook, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Amazon, Booking, AliExpress, Zalando, Google Shopping, Wikipedia, Google Maps, Google and Apple’s mobile app stores, Google’s Search, and Microsoft’s Bing.

But starting on February 24th, 2024, the Digital Services Act will start applying to a much broader spectrum of online platforms that have fewer than 45 million monthly users.

We are being told that this new law will establish clear rules that online platforms must follow.

That will include censoring anything that is deemed “false or misleading” under the Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation…

So what kind of speech is the DSA expected to police? Last year’s Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation defines disinformation as “false or misleading content that is spread with an intention to deceive or secure economic or political gain and which may cause public harm.” The code has already been put to work during elections and to “respond to crises,” such as COVID and the war in Ukraine.

And it really doesn’t matter if material that European bureaucrats consider to be “false or misleading” is actually “false of misleading” at all.

What matters is that if online platforms do not comply with what they are being told to do, they will pay dearly…

I tried to find this on youtube because I wanted to know whether this came from a big new agency or just a small channel, but there are so many reports of Indian news outlets about this, I couldn't find the channel.
But good for India, they still seem to have some freedom of the press.
As I had never heard about the Khalistan movement before, I had a quick look what it is all about.

The preliminary injunction hearing is set for 10/3/2023. When the Plaintiffs win at the preliminary injunction hearing, which they will (barring someone getting to the Judge in some way), the case will be over for all intents and purposes.

I would not be surprised if the so-called governor withdraws the EO before the hearing, stating something to the effect that she stands by the EO, but she feels it is in the best interest of New Mexicans to stop the litigation. However, her handlers won't let her and, in addition to that, her hubris and ego may not allow her to do the right thing.

China Tried to Headhunt British Officials, UK Government Says

Targets include individuals in ‘key positions’ in the government, the military, industries, and the wider society, according to the Cabinet Office.

The Chinese regime has targeted officials and other people in “key positions” with their recruitment schemes, the UK government said on Thursday.

It follows a string of recent revelations that suspected Chinese agents have targeted British politicians, officials, academics, and others for intelligence.

The government “recognises that Chinese recruitment schemes have tried to headhunt British and allied nationals in key positions and with sensitive knowledge and experience, including from government, military, industry and wider society,” the Cabinet Office said in a document published on Thursday.

“As the [Intelligence and Security] Committee [ISC] notes, there is more work to be done,” the Cabinet Office said.

The remark is part of the government’s response to an ISC report published in Julythat labelled the UK’s response to the Chinese threat as being “completely inadequate.”
In the report, the ISC said the Chinese regime had managed to overtly “penetrate every sector of the UK’s economy” over the years through takeovers, mergers, and interactions with British academia and industry.

It also said the UK was high on Beijing’s list of targets for espionage and interference given its global influence and its relationship with the United States.

The 222-page report criticised the government and security agencies for their “serious failure” in protecting UK assets and negligence in tackling the Chinese interference activities in the UK.

“Until recently, our agencies did not even recognize that they had any responsibility for countering Chinese interference activity in the UK,” the report said at the time.

The committee also said Whitehall’s approach to the threat of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was inadequately resourced, incoherent, and short-sighted, and called for a cross-departmental approach to countering the threat.

The ISC is the parliamentary watchdog of security agencies including the MI5, MI6, GCHQ, Defence Intelligence, the Joint Intelligence Organisation, the National Security Secretariat, and Homeland Security Group.

In its response published on Thursday, the government listed the progress that had been made since the ISC took the bulk of its evidence in 2020, including the passing of new laws to target foreign agents and the setting up of task forces and public bodies to focus on different aspects of the foreign threat. My remark about not being surprised was close, but not exact.

Today, the criminal controlled stooge occupying the office of governor of New Mexico, in a failed, egotistical attempt to save face, amended her anti-constitutional so-called executive order. She did not rescind it. She amended it in a meaningless way to restrict guns in places where people typically don’t carry—parks and play grounds. (But given the insanity of the current state of affairs should carry to protect their children if they take their children there.)

And, BTW, none of the 4 or 5 children who the “governor” claimed died by gun violence, and who she parroted as the justification for the EO and the poster children representing the other children needing to be saved, except maybe one, lived in Albuquerque. Yet, under her EO, and the NM Department of “health” directive issued to carry out the anti-constitutional EO, only law-abiding citizens of Albuquerque were turned into criminals by her EO. No other area or community of NM were affected by the DOH directive. Why that is is another story. Not complicated, but requires some explanation.

The EO, even as amended, is blatantly unconstitutional and anti-constitutional.

This amended EO too will not pass muster under the US Const. and/or section 6 of the Bill of Rights of the Mexico constitution. Period.
