Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.It was thereby not Hamas which profited from unusual short positions but likely someone else.
Recent scholarship shows that informed traders increasingly disguise trades in economically linked securities such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Linking that work to longstanding literature on financial markets’ reactions to military conflict, we document a significant spike in short selling in the principal Israeli-company ETF days before the October 7 Hamas attack. The short selling that day far exceeded the short selling that occurred during numerous other periods of crisis, including the recession following the financial crisis, the 2014 Israel-Gaza war, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, we identify increases in short selling before the attack in dozens of Israeli companies traded in Tel Aviv. For one Israeli company alone, 4.43 million new shares sold short over the September 14 to October 5 period yielded profits (or approximates avoided losses) of 3.2 billion NIS on that additional short selling. Although we see no aggregate increase in shorting of Israeli companies on U.S. exchanges, we do identify a sharp and unusual increase, just before the attacks, in trading in risky short-dated options on these companies expiring just after the attacks.3.2 billion New Israeli Shekel are about $800+ million. And, as I understand it, those only were the profits from a small part of the whole operation.
We identify similar patterns in the Israeli ETF at times when it was reported that Hamas was planning to execute a similar attack as in October. Our findings suggest that traders informed about the coming attacks profited from these tragic events, and consistent with prior literature we show that trading of this kind occurs in gaps in U.S. and international enforcement of legal prohibitions on informed trading. We contribute to the growing literature on trading related to geopolitical events and offer suggestions for policymakers concerned about profitable trading on the basis of information about coming military conflict.

I have just viewed Roy Potter's latest video (streamed 5 hours ago), titled:
Your Life Means Nothing To Them
I have been following him for several years and have never seen him so angry and ending a video so abruptly.
In this video he summarises many of the points he has already explained in his longer videos about the current situation:
- He is vary wary of any terrorist attack that is blamed on Islamists at this point in time. Who benefits?
- The official narrative coming out of the IDF and the Netanhayu government is full of deceits and lies.
- It was known for a long time that the 7th October Hamas attack was coming.
- Where is the body count of the Hamas fighters that have allegedly been killed? They don't have any and they are just killing wholesale.
- The actions of the Zionists prove who they are not and nothing in the Torah justifies their actions.
- Use of more atrocity propaganda by Israel that turned out to be bogus.
- "Thou shalt not bear false witness" under the Torah can be capital offence.
- Lack of action by the Arab countries. Going along to get along for the financial benefits.
- Human life means nothing to them. Resources in Gaza. Trading life for gain.
- Netanhayu's name change means "God has given" and is a messianic title.
- Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson's instructions to Netanhayu: "You will be here and usher in the messiah."
- Netanhayu took this to the next level thinking he is the messiah. Netanhayu/Trump coin. Sons of light vs Sons of darkness.
- Israel is violating Torah.
- They believe we are the "Beasts of the field" and they have a right to kill according to the Talmud.
- Criticism of the Abrahamic religions.
- Anyone who justifies what is happening in Gaza will be getting tickets straight to hell.
- Chemtrails. Attacks from all levels.
- Receiving criticisms on Twitter/X. Angry that the human race is this ****ing stupid.
- Trying to live a righteous life. Prep, pray and stay out of the way.
- Kabbalistic teachings of "God doesn't give a **** about your body, He only cares about your soul" is wrong.
- Your soul is your body and your spirit (Genesis 1 and 2). They want to minimise our life here on earth.

Gantz Accidentally Brings Rabbi’s 30-Year Old Prophecy About Netanyahu to Fruition
https://www.israel365news.com/334730...yahu-fruition/
That's what I figured would happen.
They can't just say "we let the time run out...", they have to press blame, which is discrediting. There is no good reason to imagine Hamas would violate its own ceasefire, or, while pushing for three possible continuances. The Israeli is trying to talk over the fact that alternatives were available.
The hubris and hypocrisy is much as discussed by the President of Cuba in Iran:
Quote:
Expressing dismay, the President drew attention to the stark contrast between the global outcry over the war between Ukraine and Russia and the relative silence surrounding the mass casualties in Gaza. This, he argued, revealed a disconcerting state of affairs on the world stage, highlighting the inconsistency and selective attention of international responses to humanitarian crises.
What are we going to do, accuse him of communism? Or accept the fact that such statements make complete sense in most places these days??
A cold, hard, and realistic look at the situation. (But personally I would add that Isreal will try to buy cooperation from energy-starved Europe with free-flowing gas stolen from off-shore Gaza.)

Israel Has Crossed Its Rubicon
December 5, 2023 – by Ted Rall
A few weeks ago, from an international and domestic-U.S. PR standpoint, Israel might have been able to bring its war in Gaza in for a hard landing. Now, it has painted itself into a corner.
Gaza has been destroyed. By this time next year, so will Israel—not its physical plant, but its current status as a privileged, funded, protected nation-state.
The damage inflicted thus far is so severe and thorough that the Gaza Strip will be uninhabitable for the foreseeable future, at least several years. All or most of its 2.3 million residents, transformed into refugees, will be permanently displaced.
Nothing can change that. If a left-wing Israeli government were to come to power, unilaterally end the war and offer the Palestinians their own sovereign independent republic side-by-side with Israel, Gaza would need to be rebuilt at a cost of tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars.
In the meantime, the Jewish state would have to provide long-term housing and public assistance for more than 2 million Palestinians throughout years of reconstruction. “You’ll end up having displaced people living in tents for a long time,” Raphael Cohen, senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation, told US media. But where?
Assuming that a new regime could muster the necessary political consensus and address the ensuing security concerns surrounding a massive population of internally displaced people, Israel is a small nation of fewer than 10 million people with high unemployment and an aging population; it can’t afford such a massive undertaking or the demographics to quickly absorb 2 million traumatized Palestinians.
De facto, Gaza has been been ethnically cleansed. Gazans have been herded from the north, which has been flattened, to the south, against which IDF airstrike targeters and ground forces have recently turned their attention. The vast majority of the population of Gaza is now massed a few miles away from the Rafah border crossing to the Sinai Peninsula. All that remains is for the Israelis to expel the traumatized and radicalized Palestinians into the Egyptian desert.
More likely, Israel will open the gate. The Gazans enter the Sinai of their own accord. Where else can they go? There is no home to which they can return. This second Nakba will occur early next year.
Which will leave the ruins of Gaza desolate and dangerous. Spurred by legitimate public-health concerns, Israeli bulldozers will cart away the rubble and the tens of thousands of rotting corpses trapped underneath. Demining experts will have to find and disarm tens of thousands of unexploded bombs, a process that can require decades.
The end result: 141 square miles of prime beachfront property. Real-estate developers abhor nothing more than a vacuum along a scenic coastline. Sandals Gaza City will look smashing jammed next to Club Med Khan Younis.
This was the thinking behind the Israeli intelligence officials who wrote a “thinking” memo that suggested the situation be exploited as a rare opportunity to drive out all the locals so they could seize and annex the entire territory of Gaza.
The revelations that Netanyahu’s government obtained Hamas’ plans for the incursion a year ago, viewed video showing Hamas fighters training (jihadi culture requires those about to stage a raid to warn their enemy in advance), received a warning from Egypt that Hamas was about to attack days prior, and that the IDF failed to respond for at least eight hours after Israel’s high-tech “smart fence” around Gaza was breached (despite receiving an instant alert) prompts the cynic in me to wonder whether the Israeli government let October 7th happen on purpose.
What - Netanyahu and his colleagues may have asked themselves - are a few hundred or even a few thousand Israeli lives compared to the chance to get rid of half the Palestinians in Palestine, and join Gaza to Israel in the bargain?
If so, they miscalculated. US officials have conveyed to their Israeli counterparts that Israel only has a few weeks left before losing international support and suffering a “strategic defeat.” Israel plans to continue for months.
The US assessment is too optimistic. The die is cast. Defeat is inevitable.
Public opinion is trending in favor of Palestine against Israel. By this point next year an appalled world, including a huge majority of American voters, will have witnessed the abject misery and injustice of the forced displacement of more than 2 million innocent civilians.
Oceans of tents in the desert, screaming orphans and wounded ex-Gazans will fill high-definition social media and broadcast screens day after disgusting day. Public support for Palestine, already at historically record levels, will be so overwhelming that governments everywhere will find the pressure impossible to ignore.
It will no longer be just the usual suspects in the Arab world who issue formal protests. From Tokyo to Ottawa to Paris to Rome, it will be politically untenable for any government to allow itself to be seen as complicit with the most outrageous war crime since the Vietnam War.
Eventually, the US will have to ghost Israel. No more emergency war packages, no more $4 billion a year in military and other foreign aid. Even under a second Trump administration, the US might recall its ambassador.
Israel can’t see it yet. But it is well on its way to international pariah status at a scale which apartheid-era South Africa, its close Cold War ally which also went too far, could never have imagined.
- Rand Corporation“At the strategic level though, the war is about perception, telling a story about who is the victim and who is the aggressor. And if the prelude to the invasion of Gaza is any indication, lies, mistruths, and disinformation will play a key and continuing role in this fight.”

A helpful summary article from a new contributor on the DDGeopolitics team which offers their own take largely mirroring what we already know with an editorial note here that the October 7 numbers have since been reversed down to around 900 or so. I've also added both an MP3 and MP4 version of the Greenblatt leaked conference call which I'm fairly certain is from October, shortly after the 'event'.
There are lots of links here but I've not enabled them in this post due to their number.

Part 1: Pro-Israel Establishment vs. The Masses
“I’ve never seen such a disconnect between where voters and constituents are and where Congress is, and that’s saying something because there’s always a disconnect.”
By GENXGIRL1994 | 4 DEC 2023
Israel and the Pro-Israel crowd have enjoyed decades-long support from the west, particularly within the U.S. In the past, when human rights groups and activists have sounded the alarm about Israel’s Apartheid, ethnic cleansing or genocide, Pro-Israel advocacy groups like the ADL and lobby groups such as AIPAC, have successfully censored and cancelled said entities. Unaccustomed to massive criticism in the west, the worldwide backlash against Israel’s attempts to quell criticism of genocide has caused DEFCON 1 level freak out within the Pro-Israel advocacy and lobby crowd.
Audio only (MP3) here:
Let’s Recap What Happened
The Establishment
Shortly after the October 7th Hamas attacks on Israel, Pro-Israel lobbyist & billionaires descended on Washington, DC to shape the U.S. narrative & support for Israel. The result was a unified Congress & White House (a rarity) committed to fully supporting Israel’s military operation against the Gaza Strip. Members of Congress immediately scheduled trips to Israel to personally convey their commitment to giving Israel whatever it needs at U.S. taxpayer expense. Upon their return, candlelight vigils were scheduled by members of Congress on the steps of the U.S. Capitol where members mourned the 1400 (later confirmed to be 1239) Israelis killed, pledged their unwavering support on social media and the House passed a $14.3 billion military aid package to include an unprecedented $3.5 billion for transfer of Advanced Weapons conducted in secret which is exempt from Congressional oversight, reporting and accountability.
Furthermore, U.S. Congress is actively attempting to pass laws to curtail freedom of speech as it pertains to Israel through a myriad of legislation aimed at redefining criticism of Israel’s war crimes, apartheid and genocide as “support for Hamas and/or Hezbollah” and hate speech (antisemitic) which is unprotected speech under U.S. law and a criminal offense. Even more troubling, the language in the legislation uses an alarming amount of false information and denies documented facts as reported by human rights groups to justify the resolutions.
1. House Resolution 883: Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the slogan, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is antisemitic and it’s use must be condemned.Watching the Carnage
2. House Resolution 888: This resolution reaffirms Israel's right to exist. It also (1) recognizes that denying Israel's right to exist is a form of antisemitism; (2) rejects calls for Israel's destruction; and (3) condemns the Hamas-led attack on Israel.
3. House Resolution 798: Condemns the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of hostile environment for Jewish Students, faculty, and staff; and urges the Secretary of Education to direct the Office for Civil Rights to investigate and, where appropriate, take action immediately.
4. House Resolution 894: (1) strongly condemns and denounces all instances of antisemitism occurring in the United States and globally; (2) reaffirms and reiterates its strong support for the Jewish community at home and abroad; (3) calls on elected officials and world leaders to condemn and fight all forms of domestic and global antisemitism; (4) clearly and firmly states that anti-Zionism is antisemitism; and (5) rejects all forms of terror, hate, discrimination, and harassment of members of the Jewish community.
5. Rubio Introduces Bill to Suspend Terrorist Activity on College Campuses: To require institutions of higher education to include reporting regarding campus antisemitism in the annual security report required under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, to ensure that institutions of higher education do not support terrorist activity of foreign terrorist organizations, and for other purposes.
6. Rubio, Banks, Colleagues Insist DC Rename Plaza Following BLM Pro-Hamas Rhetoric: The letter from members of Congress claims (among other accusations) “the D.C. chapter of BLM posted that Israel is guilty of “apartheid,” while sharing posts that cast doubt on the atrocities that took place on October 7, including the beheading of babies.”
7. Rubio Demands Investigations Into Biden Staff Ceasefire Letter
8. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Bans Pro-Palestine Student Organizations
9. New York Governor Kathy Hochul Conducting Special Media Surveillance Efforts to Monitor Hate
10. Renewed Calls by members of Congress to Ban TikTok over Alleged Anti-Israel and Pro-Hamas Posts
During this same period, the world watched as Israel with the help of its U.S. and European allies continued its brutal collective punishment on the Gaza Strip killing 20,031 civilians, injuring 36,350, and displacing 1.73 million civilians.
https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/...1079x1159.jpeg
The devastation extended to what many call genocide where Israel cut access to food, water, electricity, fuel and communications; destroyed hospitals, killed babies in incubators, and flattened large parts of Gaza where thousands of bodies are still under the rubble and unaccounted. On social media we watched real-time coverage of parents holding their dead children, other parents holding remaining body parts of their dead children and even worse, parents holding small bags of the pulverized remains of their kids. We watched children shaking their dead parents to wake up, dead kids and infants being pulled out from the rubble of bombed buildings, survivors bicycling to safety while crying and praying as they passed dead bodies scatter on roads, displaced Palestinian caravans leaving Northern Gaza under Israel order get bombed by Israel minutes later and on and on.
Millions of social media users across platforms are also learning Apartheid in Israel is a real thing and a designation recognized by all major human rights groups (Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem, and UN OHCHR).
https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/...1291x1548.jpeg
Additionally, we are witnessing the Israeli government openly behave and speak of genocide with impunity and lie to cover incidents that mirror war crimes. Initially, westerners waited for their governments to react with outrage in the same manner in which they did for Ukraine but it never happened. Instead, we witnessed western governments reaffirm false Israeli narratives, make the case that what applied for Ukraine does not apply to Palestinians, ignore polling data showing the overwhelming majority want a ceasefire and condemn peace activists as Hamas supporters.
https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/..._1200x717.jpeg
Only 9 members of Congress align with majority of Americans who call for ceasefire & honor all lives lost in the Israel war, meanwhile, the rest of Congress only honors Israel lives lost & champion/fund Israel’s continued bombing of Gaza.
Americans are also discovering the U.S. government shields Israel from ICC investigation where it has vetoed 53 separate cases at the UN Security Council to investigate Israel for crimes against the Palestinians, all while claiming Israel is not committing genocide or collective punishment but defending itself against terrorism.
The Masses React
World reaction to the devastation in Gaza coupled with contradictory rhetoric of western governments’ unflinching support for Israel is one of horror and outrage which has transpired into an unprecedented worldwide grassroots movement in support of Palestinians. Millions of people have taken to the streets and social media to protest for ceasefire week after week. From the largest protest in London’s history to massive protests in every country, it’s a daily event. We’ve watched activists in the U.S.
- shut down ports to block weapons from reaching Israel,
- sit-ins in Congressional offices, in front of the White House, in front of the homes of members of Congress and AIPAC’s President,
- protests which forced Boeing plants to close for the day only to find them there the next day,
- Jewish Organizations uniting with Palestinian organizations to stage protests,
- student walkouts across universities and on and on.
The world has united in an unprecedented way across geographical, cultural and religious lines in support of ceasefire and human rights for Palestinians.
We are also witnessing an unprecedented number of government officials resign or voice their protest against government decisions to ignore voters, human rights organizations and diplomats, and circumvent government protocol in order to provide Israel support and access to weapons. The reaction from the government establishment has been to persecute the Ceasefire movement through condemnation and legislation.
The yawning mismatch between voters’ and members’ sentiments on this issue strikes many staffers as outrageous. After 50+ days of the current war, what has become obvious is that there is a glaring disconnect between the masses who support ceasefire and justice for Palestinians and pro-Zionist establishment (government elected officials and Pro-Israel groups) who support Israel’s military operation.
“This building is not listening,” said one Democratic aide. “I’ve never seen such a disconnect between where voters and constituents are and where Congress is, and that’s saying something because there’s always a disconnect.” - Huffington Post

Israeli reserve officers say surveillance video and audio recordings from the Gaza border during the Hamas attack have been deleted, potentially to prevent an investigation into what happened that day...
Israeli military surveillance video from the Gaza border from 7 October, the day of Hamas' surprise attack, has disappeared, Israeli news site Walla reported on 3 December.
During a visit by a senior female officer from the Israeli army general staff to the various division headquarters, senior officers in the reserves commented that "an invisible hand" had deleted videos from the various military surveillance cameras showing the events of that day, the Hebrew language outlet stated.
The videos were deleted from the military network known as "ZeeTube," potentially to prevent their use in an in-depth investigation of how thousands of Hamas fighters managed to breach the border fence and infiltrate Israel to carry out the attack.
A senior reserve officer from one of the divisions said:
"We sat down with one of the generals and were going to show him a video about one of the events, and we found out that someone had deleted the videos. It was very embarrassing. Then suspicion arose as to why someone would do that. And at the end the excuses started that it was decided to give special privileges to certain officers to view the footage. Do officers in our ranks need privileges? It looks like a war between generals and officials. There is a feeling that everyone is now trying to take care of themselves for the day after - when an investigation into events of that day takes place."
Israeli officials, including top generals and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have acknowledged the Hamas attack, in which 1,200 Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed, resulted from an intelligence failure. However, they insist the events of that day cannot be investigated until after the war in Gaza, in which some 20,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombing, ends.
Officials in the Gaza Division said that there was also a "disruption" in recordings of audio communications from 7 October. According to them:
"Some of the recordings have disappeared or were simply downloaded from the network and transferred to another location at the direction of commanders. We are unable to hear them ... Someone decided to transfer or delete them so that no one will hear them. The recordings tell the whole story of what happened, what we did, especially in the first 8 hours and in the moments when there was really no one to talk to."
In response to the claims, an Israeli military spokesperson told Walla that no videos were deleted from the operational systems after the events of 7 October. The videos have been blocked to unauthorized individuals to prevent viewing out of curiosity and voyeurism. The videos are all kept for the benefit of the in-depth investigation that will be carried out on the subject by relevant parties, the spokesperson said.
A military official stated:
"In the system in question, videos are automatically deleted after a few days. If necessary, the videos are saved in a separate folder. In this case, all the videos were saved."
Vicus comment: interesting...similar"trick" with Pentagon cameras at 9/11 (that day dint "worked") similar perpetrator ?...

Israel admits it killed its own at Nova music festival NOV 19, 2023
A police investigation shows Israeli Apache helicopters opened fire on attendees of the Nova music festival during the 7 October Hamas attack

An Israeli police investigation into the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival near the Gaza border on 7 October revealed that an Israeli attack helicopter killed some of the attendees, Haaretz reported on 18 November.
According to a police source, an investigation into the incident showed that an Israeli combat helicopter that arrived at the scene from the Ramat David base fired at Hamas fighters and other Palestinians who crossed through the border fence from Gaza into Israel, but also fired on some of the Israelis attending the music festival. According to the police, 364 people were killed there.
The Israeli military and rescue services previously claimed that 260 Israelis were killed at the festival, all by Hamas and Palestinians in a deliberate massacre. But this is the first acknowledgement that Israeli forces killed some of their own.
Previous reports in Israeli media revealed that Israeli forces killed Israeli civilians in Be’eri, a settlement also near the Gaza border. In that case, Hamas fighters were holding Israelis captive in homes. When the Israeli military arrived, it opened fire, including by firing tank shells, killing both Israeli captives and Hamas fighters.
Three of those killed in Be’eri by Israeli tank fire were 12-year-old Liel Hezroni, her brother Yanai, and their aunt Ayla. Israeli broadcaster Kan reported that Liel’s relatives held a farewell ceremony for her, rather than a burial ceremony, because her body could not be recovered from the house that collapsed on her and other Hamas captives after an Israeli tank fired two shells into it.
A similar instance occurred in Sderot, where Hamas fighters had taken over the local police station, and were holding Israeli police captive inside. Both the Hamas fighters and Israeli police were killed when the Israeli army fired tank shells at the police station, killing everyone. Israeli forces then bulldozed the station.
It is therefore unclear how many of the Israelis who died on 7 October were killed by Hamas, whose fighters were seeking to take as many Israelis, both soldiers and civilians, captive back to Gaza as possible, and how many were killed by Israeli forces refusing to negotiate for the captives’ release.
Israel initially claimed Hamas and Palestinians killed 1,400 Israelis on 7 October, including soldiers, police, and civilians, but later revised the count to 1,200. Israeli spokesperson Mark Regev acknowledged that 200 of the alleged victims were Hamas fighters or Palestinians whose bodies were burned so badly that Israeli authorities could not initially identify them and assumed them to be Israelis.
In an interview with MSNBC on 17 November, he stated, “We originally said, in the atrocious Hamas attack upon our people on October 7th, we had the number at 1,400 casualties and now we’ve revised that down to 1,200 because we understood that we’d overestimated, we made a mistake. There were actually bodies that were so badly burnt we thought they were ours, in the end apparently they were Hamas terrorists.”
Regarding the Nova festival, Haaretz reported as well that, “There is a growing assessment in the security establishment that the terrorists who carried out the massacre on October 7 did not know in advance about the Nova festival held near Kibbutz Re'im, and decided to come to the place after discovering that a mass event was taking place there.” The Hamas fighters had initially intended to attack nearby settlements in what is known as the Gaza envelope.
According to Haaretz, senior security officials estimate that Hamas found out about the existence of the party using drones, and directed its fighters to the location using their communication system. In a video from a body camera of one Hamas fighter, “he is heard asking a captured Israeli for directions to reach the bad guys, even though he was in a different area." One of the findings that strengthens the assessment, according to the police and other security officials, is that the first Hamas fighters arrived at the Nova festival from the direction of road 232 and not from the direction of the Gaza border fence.

I'm a bit more interested in the heavy handed political approach, it seems that every "tool" is being "burnt" currently; few of the old tactics will work after these last 5 years or so. This is completely ignoring AI becoming the new "google it" and drastically changing people's mentalities based on data rather than spin (as an optimist) or completely nail the last few in the coffin of propaganda control (pessimist take).
Either way, the current situation is fascinating:
youth LGBTQ(etc) wide spread and quickly forced acceptance and sympathy mixed with Youth angles (nearly all TikToc btw) with extremely cognitive dissonant topics.. I think the outcome is already written on the wall, these will fail horribly and that is the reason the push is so desperate seeming currently (IMO).
