I admire the guy. I admire the fact that he is willing to risk his life in pursuit of his wanting to know the answer to a question, a question he believes has not been answered satisfactorily. I could think of more noble pursuits to die for.

I agree that his endeavour may result in his own demise, he sure has balls, that's for sure.

It's his life, Good luck to him.
Unfortunately, 1800 ft is less than the three tallest buildings in the world. He won't be able to answer any question accurately even if his flight is successful. Less admirable.

However, if he was doing it for fun, just because he wants to, or for a "hold my beer" moment ... now that would be very admirable ...

    UPDATE:

He Plans to launch on Tuesday or Wednesday/28-29th), but who knows. It'll take a couple days to set up the ramp, another day and a half to heat up the water, and then there's the weather. Meteorologists are calling for Santa Ana winds this week. No Bueno. Plus, he's been known to halt operations if no media people show up.

    But....

He Canceled, BLM won't let him use public lands. So He moved to private property and is setting up there. BLM is cool with that. Talked with the ranger this morning.
He's a daredevil, not an activist.

    Oh the wait .... !!

Go Go Mike - To the Stars !

Currently building a model V2 rocket ( nearly finished !) - Think I might have to start making a working model of Mikes Machine next week in his honour lol ! ( just hope if people see "Flat Earth" written on it they don't get the impression I agree with him ! )

    Well, he could be right.
If he is starting from 1800 feet MSL (mean sea level)
Or did he mean 1800 feet AGL (above ground level)

700 feet AGL was standard pattern altitude for small aircraft setting up for landing.

The Dumbass believed the Earth was flat, rocket blasted off, landed with a splat.

The world cheered he didn't fall off the Edge,
Survived the landing head shaped like a wedge.

At least we know what goes up must come down

Next try an apple bouncing off your crown...

I've flown at 55,000 feet in a plane. Much cheaper to buy a window seat than build a steam powered rocket and safer too...

They applied for solid fuel permit, but the dude didn't qualify for a pellet gun under the insanity law, steam iron powered was approved...

Wait until he remembers he was running those 5000 irons from a generator running on electricity from a wall outlet...

i'm of the view that its a publicity stunt.

wheter he will be successful or not, isnt really the point,

he has on the side of his contraption the words 'research flat earth'

the image has gone around the world

and google analytics shows a large spike in interest of the subject!

for him, its already a success.

that we also get to see what happens when a guy launches himself skywards in a man made rocket, is a bonus.
when i went there nothing happened!, i was bored out of my mind..................in the Twilight Zone.

    Wanna see what happens?

He's done it before, on January 30, 2014, and is lucky to be alive!

And here is a longer (Slo-Mo) video taken from an on-board Go-Pro mounted on the tail:

And yes it really is Steam Powered, with a thrust period of approx. 4 seconds!

yeah i saw that vid a while back. my thinking was,

okay if there is a dome.barrier, i can understand it stopping the forward motion of the rocket,
    but not the spin.

so i looked into it and found that the rocket is designed to spin in order to keep its vector and trajectory as straight as possible,

and it has built into it, a device that spins a weight in the opposite direction to negate the spin of the rocket.
which is activated at the desired altitude.

i absolutely acknowledge that some flat earthers do themselves no favours with some of the arguments they present,

but on the other hand, there are some arguments which remain uncountered.

    who knows anything for sure?

That's the thing ... flat earther's seem to have this condition where they can't actually research anything for fear of being found out they're wrong. A simple asking of "why did the rocket stop spinning?" and a few subsequent google searches and everything is very logically and soundly explained - flat earther's can't do that for some reason ... And as SKAWF mentioned, the rocket wouldn't even have stopped spinning, it would have deflected off in another direction, while maintaining its spin. I don't need to test that to know it is true, I can run the physics simulation in my head.

    anyway ...

I was quite surprised to see how far he made it on his initial run, and am even more surprised he would want to do it again ... or maybe as someone mentioned above, it's all just a gimmick for advertisement ... what was written on his rocket the first time around?

Mad mike Hughes recently stated in a daily mail article...

His project has cost him $20,000, which includes Rust-Oleum paint to fancy it up and a motor home he bought on Craigslist that he converted into a ramp.
He planned to strap into his homemade contraption and hurtle over the ghost town of Amboy, which has a population of four, in the Mojave Desert and along historic Route 66.
'I don't believe in science,' said Hughes, whose main sponsor for the rocket is Research Flat Earth.
'It'll shut the door on this ball Earth', he said in a fundraising video, while explaining that Nasa is controlled by round-Earth Freemasons and Elon Musk is making fake rockets.

Who knows i know we are all indoctrinated into a certain world all our lives well what if it was all a lie??

What if the planet is much much bigger?

    NASA always tells the truth?

Its good to question so i put this rather than go for the easy they would fall of the edge ridicule.

Nothing to do with NASA. The Greeks, who were pretty smart, knew the Earth wasn't flat 2,250 years ago. You can figure it out without ever leaving the Earth's surface.

Its good to question, for sure, but it's also good to come up with good answers.

Pythagorus and Aristotle declare its a sphere yet why are people questioning such a proven theory and coming up with resonable repeatable proofs that it is not?

The egyption the Norse the Hindu the Mayan the Inca the Navajo and the Hebrew religion all claiming it was a oval plane in history.

I think direct realism should count not what people say and claim and never a photo or video that are easily faked.

The globe is falling apart thats what i think personally

but Bill i love you im just trying to give the other side of the argument as most people dont look twice at the claim.

First, there's no proof the earth isn't a sphere, but there is a lack of well educated people who would even know how to use math in a such a way to be able to know how to make this determination.

I think the real reason people are questioning this has a lot to do with this: https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-du...design/5395928

Okay, here's your homework. There are three good threads on this (and there are others, too) — and I can see you've not read any of them yet.

That can be understood and forgiven, because you're a new member, but we expect new members to (a) be smart and (b) learn fast, especially about basics like this.

Always remember that Avalon is a pretty huge library. There's a LOT of stuff here you can really learn from.
You're now posting FlatEarth-ism on two threads at once. That's not very encouraging. Please don't promote stuff like that here without having done your research first. (Copying and pasting Eric Dubay videos is not research. )

We love you too, or we'd not have approved your application. But — now that you're here, the opportunity is up to you.
