Even 26 hours has its benefits.

    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to post a quick update as I am bonkers busy and my weekend is packed with lots of work (on a Saturday!) and play. Somehow, I am still on my Fast – Day 27 – and going strong.

I’ve noticed that there are rhythms to the detox process and, for me, I have 4 days of tough detoxing which is followed by a week or so of feeling great. I’m in one of those ‘feeling great’ times now. My mental clarity and energy levels are astounding and I am experiencing a heightened depth of spiritual connection. I’m always reluctant to use the word ‘spiritual’ as I think it is overused and misunderstood unless qualified by an explanation. For me, it means that I feel very connected to everything around me (more than usual) and my senses are razor sharp. My instincts are in tip top condition and my body is communicating with me i.e. I am listening to both and acting on the information.

I have my medical check-up on Monday (Day 29) so let’s see if I am still Fasting. I must admit, I am now at the point of thinking – well, I’ve done 27 days so why not do 30 and if I do 30 days why not do... etc. This is the first time I have thought beyond day to day. I have zero appetite (which will be my signal to stop) and I’m really enjoying the Fasting process.

    Onwards!

I can't help but laugh at the idea of the poster who did the water fast and then the first thing they ate was a yakult, sausage and bacon, pizza and burger and chips.

    Hahahaha. That's funny
People are funny I think that is part of being human.

    JC

PS And just for the record, there was some method to the madness. Yakult for a bit of bacteria, sausage bacon and eggs all being protein, and I didn't have those other things all at once - it was over several days But I admit I have a long way to go to eat more sensibly on a longer term basis. It just isn't particularly easy when I live in one of the mainstays of the "western world" being in the South East of England...

    Hi all,

Just to let you know I am going to start another fast from tomorrow (19 March 2018). Am planning to go until Easter, so probably around 12 days. We shall see. I'll post updates once I get going again

Today is my day 5 of a 5 day fast. My goal has been to do "frequent fasting" and to do something every month.

Total for the year = 14 water fasting days. January 6 days (3-2-1), February 3 days, and now March 5 days.

Eventually, I may do a longer fast, but we'll see.

I feel good. I used a lot of energy yesterday and I was in the forest, so I got plenty of nature and fresh air. I made fires both in the wood stove, and the fire pit outside by the creek.

JC, you're going to be starting right while I am finishing. Passing the torch to you!

    Hi Michelle,

Ok! I will take the torch, although I think Flyswim still has the main one. We are working with a secondary, sub-20 day one

    Will update you soon.

Oh, yeah! Flyswim is the fasting master. 27+ days...Wow! I don't know if I will ever do that long.

I'm so looking forward to eating tomorrow! And not because I'm hungry. Just because the taste of food and the enjoyment of eating is luring me back. Every time we go without something for awhile, a new appreciation is born.

Today I went to a meeting and snacks were provided. Of course, I just had a cup of water. The host had some excellent goat cheese. I told him he was teasing me because I looooove goat cheese. So he said he would put some in the freezer and next time I come over he will get it out. How sweet!

I'm going to break my fast with a veggie juice drink or smoothie at our local health food store. I'll also have some miso soup tomorrow. I'll eat solid food, too, but just not first thing.

    Hi Michelle,

Enjoy your food. The point about a new appreciation is an obvious one, but this process really does illustrate it well doesn't it?

I have started now, so just on day 1.

    Will do a mini-update tomorrow.

    Hi all,

Ok well I did say a mini-update, so day 1 under my belt.

I suppose I know more about what to expect this time round, and it has felt very easy so far!

But I am not going to be complacent, so let's see where this goes again.

Lost 3 pounds after 24 hours which is the same as last time. On my previous fast, Day 2 was the most challenging, so let's see what happens this time. At least I know that if I do have a more challenging day, that it quickly turns the corner into feeling much better.

Watch this space (if you like ).

Welcome back, JC! It'll be good to have some Fasting company again

Quote Flyswim is the fasting master. 27+ days...Wow! I don't know if I will ever do that long.
Yikes, Michelle! If I must be awarded such a moniker perhaps 'Mistress' would be more suitable

I think that is what I will do when I break this Fast - little and often. We all have our own motivation for Fasting and mine is strong due to recent surgery and the wish to re-boot my immune system and detox the masses of nasty medical drugs I was prescribed. This is a good video (3 mins; British narration!) that explains why Fasting is good for the body, what happens when we Fast, and the scientific studies on the benefits of Water Fasting. Admittedly, it pushes a specialist Water Fasting centre but the information is worth a squiz:

Well, I am on Day 30! Wowzers I went for my medical check up yesterday and immediate results (blood pressure, BMI etc.) are good. My blood work comes back this Thursday. I told my Dr that I was Water Fasting! Apart from a raised eyebrow she was open to the idea. She has seen me through the surgery (and prescribed me the drugs!) and agreed I looked great - skin, eyes, hair, weight, mood (her words) and is happy to support my choice to Fast. I explained that I would stop if I felt hungry but had no plans to stop otherwise. She only asked that I come in every 10 days for a check up or to stop if I felt weak / dizzy. I feel neither at the moment. In fact my energy is great. Despite the heavy snowfall over the weekend, I went for a long riverside walk with a friend - battling icy head winds and heavy snow; I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt great during and after the walk.

One surprising thing that has happened during my Fast is that one of my (keyhole) scars completely disappeared! The others are fading but to see that one of the scars has gone still shocks me (in a good way). This 5 min video explains why:

On that note, I wish you a happy return to eating, Michelle, and that Day 2 of your second Fast goes well JC. I will, of course, keep you all posted on my progress

Thanks for all your support and interest

    Hi Flyswim,

That is amazing - day 30! Very impressive. And the fact that you are still feeling good and strong is great.

Interesting to hear about the scar disappearing. It is good to have some external proof of reparations. Imagine what it is repairing on the inside that we would never really know needs repairing

I'll watch out for your updates and I'll keep you posted with mine

    Wow! Fasting Mistress!

Great job. You're doing so much purifying and healing.

I had a friend get off Prozac that he had been on for years by juice fasting. I think he went 90 or 100 days! Prozac is very hard to wean from.

I haven't had prescription drugs or anesthesia for many years. But there are plenty of environmental toxins to clear. I'll do another fast in April.

    Great job, JC!

    Hi All,

Into Day 3 of my fasting. I haven't had a bad day yet, so I wonder if that is coming later in the process this time.

So far I feel great. Very energetic, not hungry, no headache.

I am not sure whether to go long or short this time.

    Lost another 3lb today.

That's it for now. Further updates tomorrow

You might not ever have a bad day!

I never had any really bad days. Slight headaches, clearing of stomach/intestines...that's it!

Maybe you are so cleared out from before, if you get any effects it will be minor.

There must be cumulative beneficial effects.

    Thanks for keeping us posted.

I'm on Day 35 of my Water Fast. Crikey!

This is the sweet part of the Fast. I am extremely focused, have superb mental and emotional clarity and stability, and my energy levels are good. The detoxing process is now internal and I can feel tweaks and shifts being carried out. As more and more gets cleared inside my body my external life also seems to be freeing up obstacles. I am now inundated with work commitments and social invitations. My mental clarity is helping to efficiently organise my workload and I am selective as to which social invitations I accept - especially if they mainly revolve around food. The smell of cooked food turns my stomach and, while I am okay with other people eating food near me, my senses are now so sensitive that I can smell trans-fat, sugar, processed foods (the nitrates in bacon and sausages are the worst) and chemicals in both hot and cold food. Thus, it is better that I stay away from such social engagements to avoid being a kill joy! I still have zero appetite or interest in food.

I have started researching the re-feeding process as I don't want to overstress my digestive system when I eventually break my Fast. This 7 minute video contains some sensible tips, not least that it shows all the foods I am slightly craving - mainly green vegetables with a high water content

In addition, this video has a good (4 mins) explanation on why Water Fasting is good for regenerating and rebuilding the immune system.

Quote Interesting to hear about the scar disappearing. Imagine what it is repairing on the inside that we would never really know needs repairing
Yes, it’s fascinating, JC. Another one of my (keyhole) scars has now almost disappeared.

Quote Great job. You're doing so much purifying and healing.
Thanks Michelle. My blood work came back healthy I have a scan to check my liver, kidneys and urethra tomorrow. I'm having a full M.O.T., eh! I want see what’s going on with my overall health and organs.

I have a busy week next week, including a day trip to the South Coast to visit family, but I’m determined to do at least 40 days on this Water Fast. At this stage, it seems rude not to! My 40 days will be completed at 5 p.m. on Good Friday! Good timing? Let’s see how I go – I won’t be silly

I will keep you all updated on when and how I break my Fast or, indeed, if I continue onwards!

    Thanks for your continued interest,

    Hi Flyswim,

I think your fast has been a massive achievement! Well done

I did 5 days this time, and all was fine, but I would like to do a longer one like you. I think I just need to have a bit more control over my environment before I do that (e.g. not have the teenagers eating their food near me every day!).

I am going to see what I can put in place after Easter to maybe do a 20 day fast or something like that.

35 days... with an aim for 40. Just shows what is possible when the ordinary person in the street would think it almost impossible to go more than 2 days without food!

You have my utmost respect for your achievement, and I look forward to hearing how you end the fast and how that feels after such a long time.

    JC

    Great videos, Flyswim! Thank you.

JC, it's good news that 3 day fasts are so powerful. Right?

My last fast was also 5 days. I don't know if I'll do a long one, or just continue frequent fasting. I'm glad I'm going to be eating when I visit family! This is a one time event, and probably the last time I see my dad.

    Hi Michelle,

Yes that is good news that 3 day fasts are so powerful

Make the most of your visit to family. That sounds so sad that it might be the last time you see your dad but hopefully it will be joyful

Just a quick update to let you all know that I did 40 Days on my Water Fast and broke it yesterday at 6 p.m. I started by sipping lemon water slowly and then demolished 3 big bowls of spinach (slightly wilted). My tastes buds sprung alive; it was delicious! I'm now making a huge pot of (mainly) green vegetable soup and will also make some Salsa Verde - I'm really craving fresh green food. This will sustain me for today. I don't want to overload my digestive system and I still drink plenty of water (with fresh lemon juice).

The last few days of the Fast were tough. I was so busy and a long train trip on Tuesday took its toll. I'm too English to pay for a 'Fasting Center' but I understand the need to make sure the body can rest during the Fasting process. In retrospect, it would have been better to rest up for the last week of my marathon Fast.

I will definitely Fast again. I doubt I'll do another 40 Day Fast but never say never

For me, the best times on my Fast were Days 7 - 16 and Days 27 - 36. I still feel clear minded and focused and am so glad I can cook again - it's a passion of mine!

Thanks for all your support over the 40 Days. It was a great experience to share
