    Default Mysterious Mountain Untersberg

There‘s an interesting, mysterious mountain area not far from where I live. Almost no information is available in English. One or two videos, but they’re not very informative. Except for a thread started on a forum back in 2008 by a person called Skyfloating. I‘ve quoted a lot of information from there. Then there‘s German researcher W. Stadler (Stan Wolf) who published a series of easy to read novels on the topic. He mixes fact and fiction. I‘ve quoted from his interviews and lectures, too.

There are facts that point towards a mysterious background of many incidents - above all the reluctance of MSM to investigate anything beyond the popular stereotypes, and the non-cooperation of officials and police.

Though I‘m posting this in ‚Myths and Legends‘ and for your entertainment.

    Untersberg Mountain:

-Untersberg = Mountain of the Subterraneans, Mountain of the Underworld

-located amongst the Berchtesgaden Alps, on the border between Germany and
Austria, rising around 1,973 meters (6,473 feet)

-a large population lives on and around the mountain. It is so huge it takes an hour to drive around it ... if it were possible to do so. Tourists are channelled on one side for mini-cave-sightseeings and a few paths in the woods. On the other side of it there are no roads or adjoining villages, it is tough to get access there.

-it mostly consists of limestone, inside the mountain there are hundreds of passageways, a gigantic cave system (over 500 caves, one third of it not yet explored) and 400 lakes, it is still not known how far it goes down. A 2008 expedition discovered a large lake in 930 meters (3,051 feet) depth.

-the GPS-display shows anomalies up to 4000 meters (13,000 feet)

-it shows magnetic and gravitation anomalies.

-the mountain has long been said to be inhabited by various demons, spirits, strange beasts, lost civilizations and dwarf-like creatures, ‚little people‘.

-according to 18th century books on German mythology the "Untersberg People" are dwarfs with a big head, smart eyes and grey, wrinkeld skin. They are very ancient, knowledgable about magic, good-hearted but also mischiveous and mean.

-there are many reports of missing time and suddenly finding oneself in a different area without any explanation, of hikers losing consciousness and then waking up in an unfamiliar part of the mountain with minutes or hours missing - as well as numerous old accounts over the centuries involving dwarves or little people, the phenomena of missing-time or time-travel.

-In Germanic mythology the Untersberg was called "Wotans Mountain". „Time is different" at Wotans Mountain. "If you spend only a little time in the caves you can return in the distant future". According to ancient text, there is a subterranean temple made of gold, silver and diamonds waiting for the return of Wotan (Odin) and his army. It is said that he will only return when ‚thought and memory no longer circle around the Wotansmountain‘ or when humanity is in great suffering. These were the stories told about Untersberg before the area was christianized.

    Legends:

King Charlemagne lives within the bowels of the mountain surrounded by dwarf-like creatures. He will sleep until his beard has grown three times around the table. Two times, this has already occurred; when it happens the third time, the emperor will awaken from his sleep and Judgment Day come.

When 24 ravens fly 3 times around the mountain, the emperor will also awaken, but then he must stay inside the mountain until the famous dwarf stone has been found, with whose help all dwarves living inside the Untersberg will be turned into humans. Thereupon the emperor will come alive again.

If someone managed to steal the Golden Scepter the emperor holds in his hand and strike it against the Untersberg 3 times, the emperor would also be released. He would then come out of the Untersberg with his army and begin the overall world war, whereupon Judgment Day arrives.

(King Barbarossa is attributed to a similar story on a different mountain, Kyffhäuser Mountain)

    Ancient Accounts:

-1529: the story of Lazarus Gitschner* from Bad Reichenhall (recorded from many sources including liturgical, first printed in 1623) who took a hike up the mountain in the company of the mayor and parish priest of a nearby town. They found a chapel worked into the rock and silver inscriptions that they could not decipher. Having returned the priest asked Lazarus to go back to the place and copy the words. So he did.
He was approached by a monk, invited into the mountain and stayed with him for 7 days, rich with experience. The monk taught him and showed him around. When he finally left the mountain and was on his way back, no time had passed.

    *(different spellings: Günzner, Eitzner, Aigner)

-one of 21 illustrations in the Lazarus chronicle kept in the Salzburg Museum:
(a 1800s faksimile of the original text)

(another account of the story was written down by scholar Martin Pegius in 1560)

-1738: the story of Michael Hulzogger (apparently recorded in a Farmer's Alamanac from that year) is about a hunter who went missing on the mountain and showed up one year later, wandering up to his own memorial service in a dazed state. He only confessed what he had expirienced to Archbishop Firmian of Salzburg who resigned from his position and left church thereafter. Interestingly there‘s the historical record of an Archbishop Firmian (actually there are two) who possessed an extended collection of clocks, sundials and astronomical instruments.

-1858: the account of a wedding procession in the village St. Leonhard that vanished on a mountain path on their way to the wedding reception (written down 1858 by German author Bernaleken, reported to have happened hundreds of years earlier). They showed up at the church around 100 years later puzzled by the entirely changed surroundings and people (they had been invited by an elderly, gray haired man into a vast underground city with a plenitude of gold and jewels, they had been treated with food and drink and then had fallen asleep). The priest who listened to their bizarre story found the report of the missing people in the records of over 100 years ago.

    The Researcher:

Wolfgang Stadler (Stan Wolf) a local, 68 years old former steelwork contractor and author is part of a research group of seven, including two police officers. He has researched the mountain area for 30 years. In his series of novels he mixes fact and fiction. He‘s a hobby pilot, speaks arabic, had been on more than fourty excursions to Egypt, and to the Himalaya region. He seems to be very well connected with various sources of information.

Modern Reports of Mysterious Incidents and Missing People, Based on Police Reports and Newspaper Articles:

-In 1956 a little boy named Ingomar von Lex went missing for five hours. When he returned, he told his parents a dwarf had guided him into the mountain, to a lake where he met other ‚transparent‘ dwarfs. He thought he‘d been there just a short while.

-In 2004 a young woman, an American tourist, went missing. After a few days the search had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Eleven days later her relatives surprisingly met her on the path. She was in good mood, her clothing dry and clean. She said she had only taken a rest for a short while, and a she had met a monk who had offered her food and drink. People didn‘t believe her though nobody could explain how she had survived the freezing temperatures.

-In 2012 a young, local skier vanished during the last downhill on a secured ski slope with no cliffs or cavities. Neither his body nor any piece of equipment was found the next spring, nor the following years.

-A high-school teacher got lost on a hike, he was not found until 3 days later in pants, the skin scratched and mentally confused. He was put in psychiatric care, no further reporting.

-Around 2010 a local man vanished on an easy hike. Police and mountain rescue service searched the whole area (helicopter, dogs, infrared camera). On the third day he was found dead 3 meters next to the path, but he has been dead for only 8 hours.

-In August 1987 three German cave-explorers disappeared on a hike. One of them had researched time anomalies for ten years. Their tent was found on a camp-site nearby, as well as their parked car with one of the women’s passport left. They provoked the largest searching operation (involving 152 men and 3 helicopters) which ever took place in the area.
In November 87, more than 3 months later, they surprisingly called their relatives from a freighter in the Red Sea heading for Alexandria, Egypt. They claimed to have no knowledge how they had gotten there, that 3 months had passed or what had happened inside that mountain. In Alexandria they went to the Consulate and returned home.
Back home they suddenly changed their story, telling reporters that everything was just a joke, they‘d been looking for adventure - and had crossed several borders illegally (due to the lack of one woman‘s passport). This became the official explanation.

According to W. Stadler, 20 years later the police files did not exist anymore.

They never had to repay any amount of money (recourse) regarding the extended search action (caused by a joke).

Another version (told by W. Stadler) says they were seeking shelter from rain under a rock ledge (in August). When they proceeded 45 minutes later it was colder, the trees bare, their car vanished. They made it to the next village and had to realize it was already October. They were so shocked that they fled the place in panic and ended up in Egypt (where they had run out of money).

Just few examples. There are about four cases of mysterious disappearances or unexplained deaths per year. The local newspapers regularly carry stories on the mystery. There‘s a lot of rumor but people do not talk openly.

    The Nazi Connection:

German dictator A. Hitler was obsessed with the Untersberg mountain. He built his retreat ‚Berghof’, an oversized chalet in the Bavarian mountains at the Obersalzberg, just across a small valley and within line of sight to the mountain. It had a retractable, large panoramic window with open view towards the mountain plus a telescope esp. equipped for earth-gazing, permanently focused on the mountain (perhaps on a preset location). He spent way more time on the Berghof than in Berlin.

In various caves W. Stadler allegedly found US army-boxes with explosives, weapons and stored uranium oxide (not provable). From a plane he also detected a Y-shaped stone wall (130 meters long). Following the wall he discovered a straight line that exactly connects five significant spots: the Berghof, a specific underground vault nearby (N2), the ruins of a building erected by the templars in 1215/1225 (Komturei), a small church just below the mountain (Ettenberg) and a notorious place on its top (Mittagsscharte).

A nice light phenomenon can be observed twice a year (June and August) in a cave right on the Mittagsscharte:

    source: http://www.untersberg.org/html/mittagsscharte.html

The Berghof was finally blown up in 1952 and all traces of it removed. The Americans then held on to the Obersalzberg area using some of the remaining buildings for ‚leisure facilities’ for US troops, finally handing it back to the local authorities in 1995 (!) This possession also includes the underground network of bunkers and tunnels, many of which are still not open to the public.

    Black Goo ?

Stadler said he‘s a friend of H. Kautz (-Vella), he had learned about black goo from him personally. In one of his interviews HKV said he had recieved a piece of black goo (oil schist) from friends, who found a ton of it in an old nazi mining facility in Germany.

The group around W. Stadler discovered an ancient mine named Adolf-Stollen (Adolf-mine). They found out that the father of the mass murderer Adolf Eichmann was granted the mining rights in 1920 to dig for a kind of oil schist, to produce lamp oil. The yield was so small that the mine was shut down 2 years later.

1943 the German Waffen-SS reopened the mine and produced shale-oil.* Wolfgang Stadler got a strange idea by one of his sources. The members of the SS had their blood type tattooed in their armpit. What do you think would have happened if the ink had been mixed with oil from that mine (alien black goo). But this would lead far off into the realm of speculation.

I‘ve also left out all his stories about encounters with monks on the mountain, with a Nazi general, about mysterious findings of black stones, the Isais Cult, the connection to the templars or a case where they accidentally discovered a large rock which turned out to be only a hologram of a rock (in the midst of nowhere on the mountain)

*Interesting additional note: The international pharma company Omya paid the University of Salzburg € 250.000 for a digital cartography of the Untersberg (sponsoring a digital database on ancient quarries)

Interesting thread, just wanted you to know since there hasn´t been an avalanche of replies. The thread deserves that :-). Hope to go there some day. Germany is not that far away from Sweden.
    BTW been there yourself?

Thank you, Metaphor, that‘s nice. I haven‘t expected many replies as the topic is barely known in the English-speaking world.

The place is quite crowded with esoteric seekers. It is considered to be a holy ground, the ‚heart chakra of Europe‘ and ‚the sleeping dragon’ (both widely cited quotes by the Dalai Lama on his visit in Salzburg 1992 - though I could not find an original source), a site for receiving revelations or a portal to the Otherworld.

It is seen as ‚one of the key vortex points for the planetary liberation‘ or one of the entries to the ‚Agartha network‘. I‘m adding the following link (Cobra) for the sake of variety. It might be a wild mix of information well worthy to dive into and phantasy.

    http://2012portal.blogspot.com/2014/09/untersberg.html

There‘s a network called Alpenschamanismus (roughly translated: Shamans in/of the Alps) whose members focus more on the healing and spiritual aspects.

I‘m mainly interested in what has happened there factually, is there anything covered up and why? Naturally that‘s the kind of information which is most difficult to come by.

No, I haven‘t been there yet
