Hello everyone, oh you dearhearts, you make me weep. Only two things I cry over, Martha I cry over multiple times a day, and I cried when I realized all my photographs of my sisters are gone. Everybody, take pictures of your photos on your iphones. You will be SO GLAD you did.

Our next door neighbor saw our house on fire when she left, not surprised, apparently the Butte Creek Canyon area was hit hardest (we were on the edge with a spectacular view) even though the fire started in the canyon on the opposite side of town. The Butte Creek Canton is extremely steep so it must have climbed in a fury.

I just want Martha. The animal rescue people were let in to Paradise today. A relative works the animal rescue in our area, and they said they would leave food and water just in case. I’m hoping and praying she made it. Can’t help it.

The video upload app for this system no longer works for me. I have an 18 second video of the sky over Chico the following day, orange sky, ash falling, 41 degrees, shivering in my linen blouse, jeans and teva sandals, lol. I’ll ask Bill to upload the video.

I was an idiot. I texted Dave about the house burning, while he was shopping at Ross Dress for Less, and he burst into tears. He left his credit card there, but they have it and he is going back to get it now.

The kindeness of strangers is ENORMOUS, unfailing, and keeps happening.
    • Our realtor’s family took us in.
    • Dave let someone go in front of him, since he only had a sixpack. He heard David talking to the people behind him about the fire, and he gave the cashier 20.00 for David.
    • The insurance contact, Ryan, is holding our hotel reservation in Chico through December.
    • The medical dispensary in Redding gave Dave a huge bag of stuff for free, haven’t had a chance to see it yet, lol.
    • Someone just donated 1,000 into the go fund me.
    • A friend of David gave a friend of ours 500.00, a single mother with three kids, four and younger. She posted on FB, good bye Butte County, off to Portland, OR. We’ve given hundreds to friends far less fortunate than us. All I can say is we will pay it forward.
    • A manager at our bank Chase, stepped in and instantly cashed a check for someone who did not bank there, her bank closed their office.
    • Safeway, with no proof of purchase since Safeway in Paradise burned down, busted a gut trying to get prescription records from corporate, and failed. They gave Dave a week’s supply of pain pills anyway. I am good on asthma meds so far.
    • Two very kind people on Avalon offered their homes.
    • Kristin has been talking with an off the grid community in New Mexico, very close to Silver City where my BFF lives! We could actually afford to live there on my social security, a refuge until David’s social security kicks in.

Chico is overwhelmed. No cars to rent, no hotel rooms, churches offering shelter are full. When I heard that Ventura/Malibu have 250,000 people under mandatory evacuation, I just... the canyon roads, the shoreline road cannot possibly handle that kind of traffic. I can see now why people die in their cars. At one point on the road down the hill, the inside of the car got very hot. It was close to the treeline border and we burst out in time.

We decided to take ourselves to Redding, poor Chico is inundated. Businesses closed, no one answering phones, Bank of America deliberately closed themselves so they wouldn’t have to give people their money. Ooh, that upset me. I have asthma, and with the ash falling, the nuclear winter sky, the freezing temperatures, no sun, we decided to leave. Ryan our insurance contact got us a room in Redding (pet friendly for Pippin!) and we headed out. Took awhile, but we could suddenly see sunlight and shadow on the orchards reeling by, and blue skies, and 30 degrees warmer! What bliss!

Did I tell you about Keith? I think I did, what a man, what a hero. A truly awesome human being. I respect and admire him SO much. Let me know if I didn’t.

I want to watch the Dutchsince video about what is going on in California with the fires. I received a conviction two or three years ago, California is going to burn. I’m kind of annoyed with PGE, they have a lot to answer for in lives and damage and pain. Put the damn power wires underground going forward, please.

Onawah, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the video of Vulcan. I am hoping and praying Martha will be found. I have faith, I have faith. And if she didn’t make it, she is with the goddess of cats, Bastet, being groomed, purred, washed, binked, smushed, and just loved to bits. I keep talking to her, I’ve experienced telepathy with cats. At one point I felt her get in my lap on our way to Redding, so comforting. Dammit, weeping again. Pets really are family members.

All you dearhearts keep asking what we need. We are really, really okay for now. Insurance instantly wired us 10k so we could help friends, buy essentials. I am now the happy owner of plaid 109% cotton jammies and a pair of slippers, lol. If you want to donate money to to the Go Fund Me page Bill and Jean-Marie set up, we’d be SO grateful. 10K seems like a lot, but at ground zero it’s running like water, eeks. I’m going to use the fund to help out friends too. Oh dear. SO many people with no renter’s insurance.

Dave just got back from the mmj store. The woman who works there said she could not believe how many people from Paradise came in. We met a family in the hotel who had moved to Paradise a month ago, from Alabama. Oh Mercy.

I have to try and unsnarl my waist length hair, ugh. I am SO tempted to cut it off, but David wants it, lol. Tomorrow, health food store, yay! Stock up on liposomal C, all the Bs, glucosamine sulphate etc., cal-mag-zinc, D-3, collagen, Bach’s Rescue Remedy and I will feel SO much better!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your love and support. I FEEL IT. You are the BEST people ever. I am so proud of you, so honored by you, so loved by you.

    Thank you.

    The video posted by onawah:
Posting this twice because I think it's merited. The most lucid explanations ever of what is causing the entire northern hemisphere to be moved by 6. earthquakes (at the start of this video ...also posted by avid ...and of what is happening on the West Coast (starting @ 31 minutes in), as to how the fires and earthquakes and volcanoes are related.

If we really want to understand what Sierra and the whole West Coast are dealing with now and for the forseeable future, this is the video to watch, imho.

Also keeping in mind that the West Coast produces a big percentage of the produce that supplies the whole rest of the US and other areas besides.

Drought, fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes all can take a toll and if highways and bridges are affected by the increasing number of disturbances, shipping can certainly be affected as well.

This is not something that can safely be ignored, and Avalon should be aware.
Daily report, includes commentary on fire breakouts around 40 minutes in.

Sierra, thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a full report. it's good to know you are safe and being surrounded with kindness! I am so sorry for the (possible?) loss of your sweet Martha. I will hope that she finds you, and it sounds like her spirit has indeed found you, even if it's no longer attached to her body.

Please don't cut your hair! As an older woman with long hair myself, I hope you will continue to let it grace your life (and David's!) I know it's a bit of trouble to bother with, but somehow it offers something special to one's life, too.

I live in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, and the skies here have been incredibly smoky since Thursday. The setting sun today was blood red shining dimly through very smoky overcast. Yesterday when I went out to my car, there were tiny bits of ash in the air and swirling off the back hatch when I opened it. So of course I think of you and all the others who are in the midst of such chaos and life-altering disruption.

I send you blessings from my heart!

Sierra told the mods about Keith, and I really hope she'll say more here. Keith was a close friend of hers who lost absolutely everything he had while helping others save themselves and salvage THEIR belongings. Sierra told us that this is what a hero is.

Edit from Sierra: I will tell you about Keith tomorrow.

I'd fully agree. I compared it earlier to a war. In wartime, people sometimes do extraordinary things in service of others, without any thought at all for themselves.

Perhaps someone in Canada can work between Interac and GoFundMe ?

    Hi Paula
I meant Forum page newest posts.
To be honest I never look anywhere else.

I dont suppose it s possible to keep it rotating on newest posts.
    Would save bumping.

It's always here, near the top. This is always the best one to use. Can't be 'stuck', but as soon as a new post comes in, it's right there.

What is it you need from a Canadian account holder?
    Can I help?

I've not found a good and generally usable way to receive Canadian funds.

In particular, as I noted in Post #46, above, I don't have access to any Canadian bank accounts, so I can't receive Interac transfers. Nor do I have easy access to a means to convert currencies between US Dollars and other national currencies.

I can usually work with $US denominated checks, cash, and money orders. I can also receive and convert Amazon gift cards, ACH transfers, Paypal transfers, and various cryptocurrencies.

If someone reading this in Canada can convert other forms of Canadian payment into something that I can work with, then I can probably assist in transferring donations to Bill Ryan for the Avalon forum and in the present case for Sierra's GoFundMe account.
