I have a friend who is an animal psychic, though retired now, I think.
She would have people send her photos of their pets and any questions they might have.
She would go into trance and talk to the animals, who would tell her all kinds of interesting things, including about past lives when they had been with the same owner.
Animals reincarnate too, and when they forge strong bonds with humans, it helps them to progress as more consciously sentient beings.
And when we have strong emotional bonds with animals, it enables them to return to us again and again, in new bodies.
My friend says that they make the transitions much more easily than we do, as they don't have the same kind of amnesia, and having shorter lifespans may help as well.
I imagine the other dimensions are not so far away, from their perspective...
Very comforting O, thank you for confirming.

Hi SierraDeb! You're 70, not 103. When you are ready for another cat (or puppy or rhinoceros or manta ray) you should go ahead and get one. Whatever length of time that sentient critter gets to be in your company and to receive your attention and affection is as good as you can offer, and, in my opinion, blessed. The living always have to carry on, and the living always do - even if we could not visualize the process ahead of time. You know, the old, "Life goes on within you and without you" thing. Don't assume a bad outcome for your furry (or feathered or scaly or bald) friend after you abandon your body, just give what you can while you're alive and capable and still inhabiting it.

pyrangello seems to be giving great advice, but it sounds like your insurance company is going to need a bit of "enhanced interrogation" techniques applied to them for you to get a fair settlement. Whereas government agencies are immune to bad publicity, corporations - such as insurance companies - are not.

So much upheaval and trauma you've been through! May it be warm enough to allow you to set aside your neutral overcoats and blossom your spring colors. The phrase "hot springs" is what just popped to mind - are there any cane-walking accessible hot springs anywhere in the area, where you could soak?

As someone in a similar situation re kitties (though not in nearly as big a transition) as Sierra, I would love to "rent a kitty" part time from a younger, healthier friend with the ability to pay for the kitty's vet bills if needed, who wouldn't mind sharing.
My kitty died because we were snowed in when she got ill and I couldn't get her to the vet, which I couldn't afford in any case.
It's a very painful situation for a cat lover, and one that's not easily recovered from, even in spite of what I know about animals and their ability to easily transition.
    Each breath a gift...

I'm so sorry about your dear cat. I recently lost my baby boy, Pancho. He was only 7 and got very sick out of the blue. We think a bee got him, but we ultimately don't know. All we know is that he suffered and that he was alone when he passed away. So to a lesser degree, I understand the guilt and regret you feel 100%. I loved that little dog like family, and cried like I never, ever did before when we got the call. I'm still crying now, as I write this post, and I have been tearing up virtually every single day since his passing on November 2. A good day now, is one where I don't cry

I don't know about reincarnation or all that stuff, but I hope that he wasn't in too much pain by the end, and that he's at peace. The hardest part isn't his absence (even though I miss him enormously every day and will never not miss him again), but the guilt over his death. He was alone and scared and in pain. The guilt, it rips you up. But what I've started doing, is every time I get an intrusive thought (mainly traumatic images of him at the vet, looking scared or in obvious pain), I immediately think of a happy memory of him. There are plenty. It's always a bittersweet moment (I've broken down crying at the doctor's, the grocery store, etc.), but that seems like a better way to honor his memory, to me.

When and if you're ready, maybe you can go to a shelter and adopt a senior kitty. I would do the same if I weren't so allergic to the sweet babies. I know for a fact the shelters in my area are positively teeming with older kitties needing love. And they're usually the sweetest ones, too.

May your Martha be well, and if she is gone, then may it have been quick. And who knows, maybe one day you'll be reunited.

All I can say is, I understand your pain, and I am truly sorry. Pets are not pets; they are family.

Sierra, I am on the Butte County notification list and today I found their cat photos. There are so many black cats waiting for their owners, so maybe, just maybe your cat is one of these?

Additional Paradise cat info that I just came across. Still being updated. Cats are still being reunited with their humans

I imagine Sierra follows these sites but just in case, I figured I'd leave them here for the Mods to forward along.

Praying Martha can be found.... xxx However, this vast sad evidence of lots of needy pets who need loving safe homes, wishing I lived on another continent to help. These vile perpetrators of globalistic greed will never attain a clean soul.

Any way anyone can help Sierra to get to that location, or her significant other, to check out the pets physically and the list?

It just sure seems to me that we did see her in the rubble at the house, when we zoomed in that day.. Hopefully somebody did pick her kitty up and got her somewhere.

To all Avalon members. With a very saddened heart I share with you news that I just received this morning, that our friend and ex-mod Sierra (Deborah) died this past April.

Having daily communication with Sierra every day for many years, she became a great friend to myself and I know many others here on Avalon. She was a true warrior and is dearly missed.

Sierra's husband David wrote this tribute for his beloved wife.

    ---
Deborah was born deaf but was the best listener I ever knew. She truly cared for all those she interacted with. A born San Franciscan she spent much of her career as a programmer for California AAA working on Van Ness avenue. I first met her as an eager computer science student in a programming class I taught. A few years later on our first date she gave me what is still my favorite Science Fiction series, The Pride of Chanur. A voracious reader, she devoured history, mysteries, SciFi, fantasy, great YA novels and anything else that sparked her interest. Her writing was elegant and moving, winning her the Mercury News “Silver Pen” award for best letter to the editor one year. She loved art, nature, and especially birds — turning every backyard in every one of our homes into a virtual aviary (just check my feed for all the wild bird pics — that was all Deborah). And cats. She loved all of the cats in our life: Loudmouth, McKnao, Martha, and Pippin. And I was blessed to live in homes filled with beauty because of her artistic skills. She was so loving and compassionate, being a hospice caregiver during the passing of two of her sisters. In 2012 she retired and we moved to Paradise CA only to flee on foot in 2018 as our town burnt down around us. We relocated to Silver City, NM. She joined the Woman's Club and became very active in the local charities. In 2019 she learned how to do children’s early detection eye examinations and performed the testing for all the preschool and elementary children in Grant County, NM. She was also very active in ‘immigrant children charities. Everyone who knew her loved her. Deborah passed away last Thursday. It was peaceful and she was with family and friends. She was always the best part of us. She brought laughter, joy, and love into everyone's lives. All who knew her will never forget her. Goodbye my love. Pippin and I miss you dreadfully, but we will stay strong. Your life and example has shown us how

David also created a video tribute here.
    https://projectavalon.net/Sierra_(De...o_The_West.mp4

The video brought a tear to my eyes. Rest in peace dear one.

It's terribly sad news. Many longstanding members reading this will remember her really well. She was enormously loved by us all. She was one of our central, core family. Her real name was Deborah, but everyone on Avalon knew her as Sierra.

She was clever, witty, graphic, sensitive, aware, massively caring and enormously intelligent. And one of the most human people I've ever known. We don't know yet what happened, but the Paradise fire, in which she lost almost everything, was a huge trauma. And relocating to New Mexico must have been quite some stressor too, as all major life changes are.

In Dave's lovely tribute, he added this photo.

Of course, I'll post a notice on the Acknowledging and honoring Avalon members who have passed thread. But please do add your replies, comments, thoughts and memories here.

Some years ago I lost a good friend, Katie. When I arrived at a place where we often met I thought I saw her there. I thought to myself "Katie, I thought that was you", and I immediately heard Katie say, "I'm in everyone you see." I've never forgotten that, and it helps me remember that those who have passed over are just not often seen, but never gone. Peace to those whose hearts are grieved by Deborah's loss.

Planet Earth lost a good one. The Spirit plane gained. Very sad to hear this news. I was lucky enough to be a mod here when Deborah was, and got to see her mind and heart in action. Caring, compassionate, bright, and full of integrity. Thanks for spending a lifetime "down here" on this plane with us, Deborah. Love you, sister!

    Dennis

Sad to hear of this, I never talked much to Deborah but could always feel the kindness of spirit in her posts.
