Longform (19:38), lots of vid of flying critters. Insects, birds, bats.

Describes Pterosaurs too, but IMO not very well. For that, I recommend a couple great lectures in the Royal Tyrrell Museum’s Speaker Series. Those things regularily flew across oceans!

I think this one is the "real deal" - I have been around humpback whales and seen them breach and they are indeed very large. It is weird that they all came to the surface at the same time but the photographer is genuine

It is extremely weird if whales all came to the surface at the same time, and also very weird that the boat didn't capsize as they were doing so. If I may ask, how do you know the photograph and photograhpher are genuine?

Multiple Whales Breach at Same Time (43 seconds)

    ...

A Small Boat Up Close To A Set Of Huge Whales Near Norway? Find Out The Facts…

People are always fascinated about nature and social media users also share unbelievable photos related to nature and its amazing creatures. Even in Sri Lanka, we observe that whale watching has become an attraction among foreign tourists as well as locals.

This is our investigation related to a social media post claiming to be a photo of a small fishing boat up close to a set of huge whales, in the middle of the sea.

    Social Media Posts

We detected the below photo shared by a Sri Lankan Facebook user, implying that these were the scenes in which a couple of individuals in a small boat were gazing over a giant set of whales, resembling a mountainous formation. The location was mentioned as Svalbard, Norway.

    Fact Check

We did a Google reverse image search and was able to find that this image had been created from combining two separate photos.

The group of giant humpback whales had been captured by a photographer named Scot Methvin. We found the explanation related to the photo, published in Alamy. The location where these whales were photographed was mentioned as Southeast Alaska, USA in 2015 and not near Norway as mentioned in the viral claims.

Alamy Stock Photo explanation is given below.
“ALASKA, USA: Humpback whales bubble net feeding. SPECTACULAR images of humpback whales appearing to resemble a mountain range as they bubble net feed have been captured. The incredible series of pictures show how the thirty-tonne whales dive underwater to hunt their herring supper and then resurface to quickly gobble up their catch before the fish can make an escape. In another shot, a boat of fishermen watch the spectacle. Another image shows a humpback’s spout disappear high into the clouds. This amazing encounter was captured by American artist and photographer, Scott Methvin (58) in South East Alaska. Scott used a Nikon DSLR camera, a brand he has used for over forty years. In Alaska we had a large pod of humpbacks surface at the same time very close to our boat and it didn't stir the water much - there was no tail flipping or flailing so our boat was not affected. The ones we saw were massive. Based on someone's comments about the authenticity of the photographer, I assumed that the photo was authentic. I didn't do a big search to verify this comment. Anyway, I personally really liked the photo of these beautiful creatures so thought I'd share. I'll stop posting pics of whales now.

Certainly whales are beautiful creatures; there's no disagreement about that, I think.
It's not necessary to stop posting photos of them, but there was something "off" about that photo, which was the issue, not photos of whales.
For long time members of Avalon it becomes second nature to sense when something isn't what it appears.
That, after all, is part of what Avalon was created for-- to develop discernment.
It's good to know, and I'm happy to know now that whales frequently breach in groups. (Thanks Paula.)

That south west of anchorage outside the bay (or potentially down near Juno, but definitely not south east... that's land.) , big whale activity area due to the large schools of fish (the whales will chase them up with a mass of bubbles, the birds see it and collect, then basically eat them as they surface; it's fairly easy to find) super fun activity if your there

This snail is more commonly known as the scaly-foot snail or iron snail. It is a species of gastropod with an iron shell and iron scales.

Communities of organisms form around this heat source where temperatures can reach over 700°F just inside the vent and ~400°F in the areas immediately surrounding the vent. Temperatures cool quickly however the further you are from the opening.

Despite their nickname, these snails do not reside in volcanos but rather live near the hydrothermal vents produced by them. As they are not very close to the opening, they can enjoy mild temperatures of ~68°F or so.

“The abyssal zones of the earth's oceans are a mysterious and not well-understood place. Being pitch black and with extraordinary water pressure due to its immense depth, it is hard to imagine that anything could survive in this alien environment. But as you’ll come to know, equally alien animals do in fact manage to survive in this inhospitable environment, and due to their extreme habitat, these organisms have evolved to look and behave in ways unlike anything familiar to us on land. This is part two in this series, you can watch the first, which is a fair bit older here if you want to learn more about these mysterious animals. Continuing on, here are just some of the most terrifying abyss-dwelling animals. I hope you enjoy.”
