This documentary is absolutely amazing and fits in perfectly with the theme of this thread. I highly recommend it even if you don't subscribe to Netflix. It's worth paying for a month then cancelling in my opinion.

When i was a kid, we had some lynx around our cabin, we would go about 2 times a year and they accepted us as "part of the group", but one of them got very close to me, mostly because i fed her good stuff.
One day i decided to bully her around and at first she was fine with it and played back, but then got upset, the only magical thing about that moment is how fast she was getting me all mauled on the legs lmao

Unfortunately she got shot.. And i know it was my fault

I learned to respect wild animals that day, to say the least

Animals are truly magical, i just think we should keep our distance if we want them to be around for next generations, but so hard to resist loving them up close, no matter how wild they can be

Since the big freeze here I have had my shoes go missing off the porch. I take them off before I go into the house. First it was one flip flop, then one of my leather boots, the next night my trainers disappeared.....So last night I waiting and watched. Who is my shoe thief?? Foxes! Seems they have their kits this time of year and they steal shoes for the babies to play with......

Wisdom the albatross, the world's oldest known wild bird, has another chick at age 70

The remarkable bird has outlived mating partners, and even the biologist who first placed a band on her in 1956



At 70 years of age, Wisdom the Laysan albatross has hatched another chick.
Regarded as “oldest known wild bird in history”, Wisdom has outlived previous mating partners as well as the biologist Chandler Robbins, who first banded her in 1956.

Wisdom hatched the chick on 1 February in the Midway Atoll national wildlife refuge in the North Pacific, where more than a million albatross return to nest each year.
Wisdom’s long-term mate, Akeakamai, who she has been with since 2010 according to the US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), fathered the chick. The USFWS also stated that albatross find their mates through “dance parties”.

“We believe Wisdom has had other mates,” US Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Dr Beth Flint said in the organisation’s article on medium. “Though albatross mate for life, they may find new partners if necessary – for example if they outlive their first mate.”
USFWS estimated Wisdom has hatched more than 30 chicks over the course of her lifetime.

This year's Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition managed to produce some amazing underwater photos that showcase the perseverance of underwater artistry amidst the adversity of the times.

Two winning photos told particularly compelling stories. The Best of Show by Gaetano Dario Gargiulo is a once-in-a-life-time moment where a curious octopus took a selfie of itself with the photographer's family.

"On the day of the photo, I remained in the tide pool as the tide was too low to venture outside of its boundaries. In one of the shallowest parts of the pool I noticed an octopus. I placed my camera near its den and the octopus started interacting with it. It came completely out of the den and to our amazement it started shooting pictures! My son (3 y.o. in the background) was very curious about the octopus."
