    Default Paganism (Wicca) 101

I have got a book entitled, "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner," for which I have been ridiculously judged. Judgements aside, I've read the book a couple of times through, and studied it numerous times. I have still been afraid to call myself either a Pagan or a Wiccan, although I identify with both religions. As of late, I have been especially attempting to connect with my spiritual side, and believe that practicing this way is the way for me to do it. Still, I've been scared. I am ready to take that step, but still don't feel 100% comfortable.

Are there any other Wiccans/Pagans out there that can shine a light on my journey?

People associate with, and give value to, labels, far too much. You don't need to be a label, just be a human with an "interest" in Wicca. Simpler that way.

Spiritual journeys are required to be specific to the experiencer; don't let others' judgements get in the way. While I never really studied Wicca much, I like to study a bit of as many different views as possible and make the common connections in my understandings across them.

There are a few with common interests here ... but I can't recall anyone specific - but perhaps they'll find this thread and be able to share with you.

    Good luck on the journey!

I hope so and thank you so much for responding! When I looked inside of myself, and asked what I truly believed in, what I truly felt, it was a connection to this earth. I never had a mother so I felt like Mother Earth was my mother. Once I read this book it was like coming home - I couldn't believe there was a religion for what I had been feeling! My interest in it also encompasses meditating, journaling, being aware of nature, focusing on energies and so much more that I am just so dang excited about. Oh, and studying! So much studying that I can't wait to do! I've got one book on an inter-library-loan, one book coming from amazon (from the UK though, so it'll be next month), the book I'm reading now and of course all the internet information I can find.

Phew. I went in to say thanks I came out a different direction.

I would be amazed if someone on this forum hadn't seriously studied paganism or wicca.

That's what I thought but there were exactly zero threads started. I feel so alone.

Cant help but think that the subject has been discussed on Avalon either this one or the original one.
Avalon is a broad church but I havent found that the search engine is that great but that is possibly down to my inexpert use of it.
    Good luck with the thread.

Wicca is coming back in force today and in France there are many followers in initiation and I am thinking of the United States by a series of eight books translated into French by the Alliance Magique edition. There are eight main pagan festivals, called Sabbaths, one for each book. I find it to be a way of reconnecting with primordial nature. On October 31, Halloween is also the Celtic New Year with Samhain. To live in consciousness on these primordial energies is to revive their ancestral incantations ...

    the eight Sabbaths:

🌑Samhain is celebrated on the night of October 31 to November 1

🌒Yule at the time of the Winter Solstice

🌓Imbolc on February 1st the eve of Candlemas

🌔Ostara with the Fall Equinox on March 21

🌕Beltane and his May 1st, the Lily of the valley festival

🌕Litha at the Summer Solstice on June 21

    🌗Lughnasadh on August 1st

🌘Mabon and his Fall Equinox on September 22

I wrote a series of articles on my blog, the news of Lunesoleil

    🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘

I beleive that these dates coincide with strong earth/seasonal feelings - I can not easily explain it except that around that time is when the season feels perfect, at its peak.

    Yes, there are four :

    🌚Yule: Winter Solstice
    🌛Ostara: Spring Equinox
    🌝Litha: Summer Solstice
    🌜Mabon: Autumn equinox.

We can think that these are the four main Shabbats of pagan holidays in Europe

    🌚 🌛 🌝 🌜

I understand traditional witchcraft died, and then when it was revived by Gerald Gardner in the 20th century Aleister Crowley wrote a lot of the rituals. Found this:

I have the Wicca spirit, but do not perform rituals. It is a teaching that spreads a lot on instagram, do your own research, because it is a practice that is as if resuscitated today, especially among young people.

I realized that the Harry Potter series caused this craze as much for rituals in magic as the study of astrology, both are studied in new followers.

I am interested in the philosophy and the way of life, as a return to the source to the primordial nature. You have to live with the times, each method evolves, with human progress.
