I had forgotten about this thread until the other day when I watched "The Dressmaker" with Kate Winslet, Liam Neeson and Judy Davis.

Not a great movie, though certainly some eye candy from Kate and Liam.
But what I really liked was Judy Davis's performance, as Kate's mother. .

She has been one of my favorite actresses since I first saw her in the Australian production "My Brilliant Career".
I'm really happy that she's continued acting now well into her 60s.
She has so much character, and it shows in her face.

She has always given such finely nuanced performances, and the role in "Dressmaker" was perfect for her.
She has the best smirk on the silver screen, imho, and you get to see it frequently there.

I finished watching the "Outlander" series recently and developed a big crush on the male lead, Sam Heughan.

I thought at first that the female lead Caitriona Balfe was miscast as his love interest, but after awhile I recognized the great chemistry they had together.
She is a few years older and more mature, but that actually worked to their advantage in the Outlander plot.

That got me hooked, and though I got tired of all the violence and traumas the characters had to undergo (which I finally just began fast forwarding through), I watched until the end of the 5th season, mostly because of Jamie, Sam's character.
I like the actor Sam almost as much as Jamie, the character he plays in "Outlander".
He has a new series now called "Men in Kilts" which is amusing mostly because of the funny chemistry between him and his co-star, Graham McTavish, who was also in "Outlander" and famous for his portrayal as one of the dwarves in "The Lord of the Rings" series.

Outlander was brilliant. I can't wait for next season. Best thing I watched since Game of Thrones and American Gods. Yeah, Sam Heughan is a bit of a no brainer.

Not sure I have any celebrity crushes ... I used to have some, but now I look back and wonder "why?". If I have to add something, Anna Kendrick I guess? I saw her on late night talk show once and was a bit smitten by her personality and sense of humour.

    While I'm here I have 2 additions.

    1) Carey Mulligan: developed a big crush on her after seeing the movie "Drive" and it hasn't relented. She's adorable.

    2) Emily Blunt: developed equally big crush while seeing her in "The Adjustment Bureau". She charmed the sh!t out of me in that movie. She's remarkable. Extremely talented and beautiful.

Game of Thrones was another addictive series for me. I will have to give American Gods a try. Thanks for the tip!

Funny, Mike. That was the first thing I thought when I first saw this thread.
Now I've posted on it several times, and read the whole thing.

Its a bit different, doesn't make a lot of sense at first, and I only watched the first season plus 1st two ep of se2. I never read the book, but Like the first season, it was a bit of something different ... changed directors after that.

A good cast and some amazing performances, cinematic were great. Fairly intense. Overall I quite enjoyed it. Thought se2 wasn't quite the same if the director change (but moved faster), but still intend to watch the rest of the series.
