Default Soundtrack for the end of the world

This drama we are all in has to be the most confusing, infuriating, scalding and bizarre script I could ever imagine. Tonight I have needed music for my end of the world movie. It started with my number 1 anthem.

Quote That's great, it starts with an earthquake
    Birds and snakes, an aeroplane
    Lenny Bruce is not afraid
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs
Speed it up a notch, speed, grunt, no, strength
The ladder starts to clatter with fear of height, down, height
Wire in a fire, representing seven games
And a government for hire and a combat site
Left of west and coming in a hurry
With the Furies breathing down your neck
Team by team, reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped
Look at that low plane, fine, then
Uh oh, overflow, population, common food
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself.
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed
Tell me with the Rapture and the reverent in the right, right
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light
    Feeling pretty psyched

    [Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it
    (It's the)
It's the end of the world as we know it
    (It's the)
It's the end of the world as we know it
    And I feel fine

    [Verse 2]
Six o'clock, TV hour, don't get caught in a foreign tower
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn
Lock him in uniform, book burning, blood letting
    Every motive escalate, automotive incinerate
Light a candle, light a votive, step down, step down
Watch your heel crush, crush, uh-oh
This means no fear, cavalier renegade and steering clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives, and I decline

    [Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
    And I feel fine
    (I feel fine)

    [Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
    And I feel fine

    Quote [Verse 1]
Haven't seen you in quite a while
I was down the hold, just passing time
Last time we met it was a low-lit room
We were as close together as a bride and groom
We ate the food, we drank the wine
Everybody having a good time except you
You were talking about the end of the world

    [Verse 2]
I took the money, I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You led me on with those innocent eyes
And you know I love the element of surprise
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You, you were acting like it was the end of the world

    [Verse 3]
In my dream, I was drowning my sorrows
But my sorrows they'd learned to swim
Surrounding me, going down on me
    Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret and waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
You, you said you'd wait till the end of the world

Quote (One, two, three, four, five, six
Oh oh oh oh oh oh)

I don't want to spend the rest of my life
Looking at the barrel of an Armalite
I don't want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say
I don't want to spend my time in hell
Looking at the walls of a prison cell
I don't ever want to play the part
Of a statistic on a government chart

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done

It's dark all day and it glows all night
    Factory smoke and acetylene light
I face the day with me head caved in
Looking like something that the cat brought in

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done

And they're only going to change this place
By killing everybody in the human race
They would kill me for a cigarette
But I don't even wanna die just yet

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done

(Oh oh oh oh oh oh...)

    Quote [Verse 1: Bradley Cooper]
    Tell me somethin' girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
    Or do you need more
Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for?
    [Refrain: Bradley Cooper]
    I'm fallin'
    In all the good times
I find myself longin' for change
And in the bad times I fear myself

    [Verse 2: Lady Gaga]
    Tell me something boy
Aren't you tired tryin' to fill that void?
    Or do you need more
Ain't it hard keepin' it so hardcore?
    [Refrain: Lady Gaga]
    I'm falling
    In all the good times
I find myself longing for change
And in the bad times I fear myself
    [Chorus: Lady Gaga]
    I'm off the deep end
    Watch as I dive in
    I'll never meet the ground
    Crash through the surface
    Where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
[Post-Chorus: Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper]
    In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low
    In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-low
    In the sha-ha-sha-ha-ha-low
We're far from the shallow now
    [Bridge: Lady Gaga]
    Ooooo aahaaa ooou (s)
    Ooo ouo oooo haaaa (s)
    [Chorus: Lady Gaga]
    I'm off the deep end
    Watch as I dive in
    I'll never meet the ground
    Crash through the surface
    Where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
[Post-Chorus: Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper]
    In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low
    In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-low
    In the sha-ha-sha-ha-ha-low
We're far from the shallow now

Quote There is no political solution
    To our troubled evolution
    Have no faith in constitution
    There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

    Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
    They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

    Where does the answer lie?
    Living from day to day
If it's something we can't buy
    There must be another way

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
    And this one

    Quote [Verse 1]
    Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
    He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
    Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice

    [Chorus 1]
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
    "Son," he said
"Grab your things, I've come to take you home"

    [Verse 2]
To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
    Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Though my life was in a rut
'Til I thought of what I'd say
    Which connection I should cut

    [Chorus 2]
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
    "Hey," he said
"Grab your things, I've come to take you home"
    Ay, back home

    [Verse 3]
    When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
    And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
    Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
    No one taught them etiquette
    I will show another me

    [Chorus 3]
    Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
    "Hey" I said
"You can keep my things, they've come to take me home"
    And yours?

Whether it is the end of the world as we know it, a pandemic or a personal tragedy.
Don't give up, you are never alone, you have friends, we will get through this together

When you express from a fearful heart in the now moment, You create a fearful future.
When you express from a loving heart in the now moment, You create a loving future.

Have no fear, Be aware and live your lives journey from a compassionate caring nurturing heart to manifest a compassionate caring nurturing future. Billyji

    Supertramp - Fool's Overture

History recalls how great the fall can be
While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea
Borne on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find
"To late, " the prophets (profits) cry
The island's sinking, let's take to the sky

Called the man a fool, striped him of his pride
Everyone was laughing up until the day he died
And though the wound went deep
Still he's calling us out of our sleep
    My friends, we're not alone
He waits in silence to lead us all home

So tell me that you find it hard to grow
    Well I know, I know, I know
And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow
    Well I know, I know, I know

Can you hear what I'm saying
Can you see the parts that I'm playing
"Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie,
Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie"
    So you found your solution
What will be your last contribution?
"Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy?
Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy,
    Yeah!"

the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated --- Gandhi

Some great tracks here........ Special shout-out to Delight with PG's Solsbury Hill (a song about a young man's epiphany, casting off the old and entering the new), Billy's choice of PG's Don't Give Up from THE best concert film ever conceived and recorded: Secret World Live.......and Akasha's choice of Supertramp's seminal Fool's Overture.......... Outstanding choices people, outstanding.

    I offer this, Genesis's gut-wrenching Afterglow.

Skip to 1:05 for the start of Afterglow...... Or be a wee devil and listen from the start for an amazing transition from Slippermen into Afterglow at the 1:05 mark.

    Afterglow

Like the dust that settles all around me
Well I must find a new home
The ways and holes that used to give me shelter
They're all as one to me now

But I, I would search everywhere
    Just to hear your call
And walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
    I miss you more

Than the sun, reflecting off my pillow
Bringing the warmth of new life
And the sounds that echoed all around me
I caught a glimpse of in the night

But now, now I've lost everything
I give to you my soul
The meaning of all that I believed before
Escapes me in this world of none, no thing, no one

    And I would search everywhere
    Just to hear your call
And walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
    For now I've lost everything
I give to you my soul
The meaning of all that I believed before
Escapes me in this world of none
    I miss you more

I'm not sure that this presents an end to the world scenario, but I would be ever so grateful to end it listening to this:

A soundtrack would take me forever to list, but this would be in my top 3 pics for sure:

One of my favorite 90’s albums is the movie soundtrack “Until the End of the World”, its like a great mixtape. Those REM and U2 songs are on it too. (good review of it https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums...oundtrack/amp/ )

The world has gone mad, music is balm for the soul indeed.

(sorry I couldn’t get the image of the album to show)

Yes, a soundtrack that I was internally referencing.

Here are some tunes from it (not sure if all ?)

    movie (not a good copy)

Not to be confused with this good soundtrack

I wonder about how much I am gravitating to REM. The band is from my "neighborhood" and I have met them. But NO, I think the lyrics are prescient.

Quote It's been a Bad Day

    [Verse 1]
A Public service announcement followed me home the other day
I paid it never mind. Go away
**** so thick you could stir it with a stick- free Teflon whitewashed presidency
We're sick of being jerked around
    Wear that on your sleeve

    [Pre-Chorus 1]
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord
    Count your blessings
We're sick of being jerked around
    We all fall down

    [Verse 2]
Have you ever seen the televised St. Vitus subcommittee prize
    Investigation dance?
    Those-ants-in-pants glances
    Well, look behind the eyes
    It's a hallowed, hollow anesthetized
"save my own ass, screw these guys"
    Smoke and mirror lock down

    [Pre-Chorus 2]
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord
    Count your blessings
    The papers wouldn't lie!
    I sigh. Not one more

    [Chorus 2]
    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please
    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    [Verse 3]
We're dug in the deep the price is steep
The auctioneer is such a creep
The lights went out, the oil ran dry
We blamed it on the other guy

Sure, all men are created equal
Here's the church, here's the steeple
Please stay tuned, we cut to sequel
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down

    [Pre-Chorus 3]
    Broadcast me a joyful noise
Unto the times, lord, Count your blessings
    Ignore the lower fears
    Oh, this means war

    [Chorus]
    Its been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    Its been a bad day
    Please

    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    [Ad lib]
    (Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du)

    [Pre-Chorus 4]
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord
    Count your blessings
We're sick of being jerked around
    We all fall down

    [Chorus]
    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    It's been a bad day
    Please don't take a picture
    It's been a bad day
    Please

    [Ad lib]
    (Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du
    Du-du du du du)

    Quote Losing My Religion

    [Verse 1]

    Oh, life is bigger
It's bigger than you and you are not me
The lengths that I will go to the distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much, I set it up

    [Pre-Chorus]
That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight
    Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you and I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much, I haven't said enough

    [Chorus]
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

    [Verse 2]
Every whisper of every waking hour I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much, I set it up

    [Pre-Chorus]
Consider this, consider this, the hint of the century
Consider this the slip that brought me to my knees, failed
What if all these fantasies come flailing around?
    Now I've said too much

    [Chorus]
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

    [Bridge]
But that was just a dream
    That was just a dream

    [Pre-Chorus]
That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight
    Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you and I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much, I haven't said enough

    [Chorus]
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

    [Outro]
But that was just a dream
    Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream, just a dream
    Just a dream, dream

    Quote Find The River

    [Verse 1]
    Hey now, little speedyhead
The read on the speed-meter says
You have to go to task in the city
Where people drown and people serve
Don't be shy, you're just dessert
Is only just light years to go

    [Chorus 1]
Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
    Ocean storm, bayberry moon
I have got to leave to find my way
    Watch the road and memorize
This life that passed before my eyes
And nothing is going my way

    [Verse 2]
The ocean is the river's goal
A need to leave the water knows
We're closer now than light years to go

    [Chorus 2]
I have got to find the river
    Bergamot and vetiver
Run through my head and fall away
    Leave the road and memorize
This life that passed before my eyes
And nothing is going my way

    [Verse 3]
There's no one left to take the lead
But I tell you and you can see
We're closer now than light years to go
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
    Fall into the ocean

    [Chorus 3]
The river to the ocean goes
    A fortune for the undertow
None of this is going my way
There is nothing left to throw
    Of Ginger, lemon, indigo
Coriander stem and rose of hay
    Strength and courage overrides
    The privileged and weary eyes
    Of river poet search naiveté
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
All of this is coming your way

In 2000 I was sure that I was just on the verge of realizing so many things. I drove 100 miles back and forth to work thinking about great ideas and listening to this album and music which made me so uplifted that often I could not sleep when i arrived home in the wee hours. There have been so many losses of people since 2000, father, mother, husband, his parents, 3 best friends, a business.I was in the Underworld much of this time,a place where we meet the dark shadows and perhaps today is the culmination of all the shadow I cast? I am listening to these versions of the music and I feel so uplifted I can't sleep.

I will not accept that adversity that does not kill us makes us stronger. nO. Adversity is just so we refuse this limited stage. It is just so we will choose otherwise.

I have no doubt that this version of reality is just not any more real than I am willing to accept. It iS time for the end of "the" world. It IS a long way down to nothing at all and then.... No longer stuck in a moment.
