Leaked Documents Show How China’s Army of Paid Internet Trolls Helped Censor the Coronavirus

As the coronavirus spread in China, the government stage-managed what appeared on the domestic internet to make the virus look less severe and the authorities more capable, according to thousands of leaked directives and other files.

In the early hours of Feb. 7, China’s powerful internet censors experienced an unfamiliar and deeply unsettling sensation. They felt they were losing control.

The news was spreading quickly that Li Wenliang, a doctor who had warned about a strange new viral outbreak only to be threatened by the police and accused of peddling rumors, had died of COVID-19. Grief and fury coursed through social media. To people at home and abroad, Li’s death showed the terrible cost of the Chinese government’s instinct to suppress inconvenient information.

Yet China’s censors decided to double down. Warning of the “unprecedented challenge” Li’s passing had posed and the “butterfly effect” it may have set off, officials got to work suppressing the inconvenient news and reclaiming the narrative, according to confidential directives sent to local propaganda workers and news outlets.

They ordered news websites not to issue push notifications alerting readers to his death. They told social platforms to gradually remove his name from trending topics pages. And they activated legions of fake online commenters to flood social sites with distracting chatter, stressing the need for discretion: “As commenters fight to guide public opinion, they must conceal their identity, avoid crude patriotism and sarcastic praise, and be sleek and silent in achieving results.”

Special instructions were issued to manage anger over Dr. Li’s death.


The orders were among thousands of secret government directives and other documents that were reviewed by The New York Times and ProPublica. They lay bare in extraordinary detail the systems that helped the Chinese authorities shape online opinion during the pandemic.
At a time when digital media is deepening social divides in Western democracies, China is manipulating online discourse to enforce the Communist Party’s consensus. To stage-manage what appeared on the Chinese internet early this year, the authorities issued strict commands on the content and tone of news coverage, directed paid trolls to inundate social media with party-line blather and deployed security forces to muzzle unsanctioned voices.

Though China makes no secret of its belief in rigid internet controls, the documents convey just how much behind-the-scenes effort is involved in maintaining a tight grip. It takes an enormous bureaucracy, armies of people, specialized technology made by private contractors, the constant monitoring of digital news outlets and social media platforms — and, presumably, lots of money.

It is much more than simply flipping a switch to block certain unwelcome ideas, images or pieces of news.

China’s curbs on information about the outbreak started in early January, before the novel coronavirus had even been identified definitively, the documents show. When infections started spreading rapidly a few weeks later, the authorities clamped down on anything that cast China’s response in too “negative” a light.

The United States and other countries have for months accused China of trying to hide the extent of the outbreak in its early stages. It may never be clear whether a freer flow of information from China would have prevented the outbreak from morphing into a raging global health calamity. But the documents indicate that Chinese officials tried to steer the narrative not only to prevent panic and debunk damaging falsehoods domestically. They also wanted to make the virus look less severe — and the authorities more capable — as the rest of the world was watching.

The documents include more than 3,200 directives and 1,800 memos and other files from the offices of the country’s internet regulator, the Cyberspace Administration of China, in the eastern city of Hangzhou. They also include internal files and computer code from a Chinese company, Urun Big Data Services, that makes software used by local governments to monitor internet discussion and manage armies of online commenters.

The documents were shared with The Times and ProPublica by a hacker group that calls itself CCP Unmasked, referring to the Chinese Communist Party. The Times and ProPublica independently verified the authenticity of many of the documents, some of which had been obtained separately by China Digital Times, a website that tracks Chinese internet controls.

The CAC and Urun did not respond to requests for comment.

“China has a politically weaponized system of censorship; it is refined, organized, coordinated and supported by the state’s resources,” said Xiao Qiang, a research scientist at the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, and the founder of China Digital Times. “It’s not just for deleting something. They also have a powerful apparatus to construct a narrative and aim it at any target with huge scale.”

“This is a huge thing,” he added. “No other country has that.”

The American Medical Association is very quietly trying to change its position over the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus patients.

In March the American Medical Association came out against the use of hydroxychloroquine after President Trump touted its use to treat the Wuhan virus. The media, Dr. Fauci, and liberal medical journals went nuts and did everything to dissuade Americans from seeking treatment.

“We caution hospitals, health systems, other entities, and individual practitioners that no medication has been FDA-approved for use in COVID-19 patients,” the AMA’s March statement reads in regards to HCQ and similar unconventional treatments. “Definitive evidence for the role of these drugs in treating COVID-19 patients has not been determined through robust clinical trials; decisions to use these medications off-label must be made with extreme caution and careful monitoring. Physicians, pharmacists, patients and policymakers must understand that these medications have dangerous side effects that may lead to patient harm, including fatal cardiac arrhythmias.”

This month the AMA discussed considering a resolution to reverse their stance on HCQ because the potential for good may supersede the threat of any potentially harmful side effects.

RESOLVED, THAT OUR AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION RESCIND ITS STATEMENT CALLING FOR PHYSICIANS TO STOP PRESCRIBING HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE AND CHLOROQUINE UNTIL SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE BECOMES AVAILABLE TO CONCLUSIVELY ILLUSTRATE THAT THE HARM ASSOCIATED WITH USE OUTWEIGHS BENEFIT EARLY IN THE DISEASE COURSE,” THE MEMO READS.

A memo showed that the AMA was considering a joint statement with the American Pharmacists Association and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists that further studies are ongoing to “clarify any potential benefit of hydroxychloroquine and combination therapies for the treatment of COVID-19.”

What ended up happing was that the AMA did not rescind their objection to physicians prescribing HCQ but reaffirmed its policy to encourage Doctors to use their own judgment to prescribe drugs off label to treat COVID.

The AMA has blood on their hands, for the sake of politics they came out against HCQ, and now they are using double talk to save face."

(Natural News) On Dec. 20, an SCI Pharmtech manufacturing facility in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, burst into flames and exploded, leaving two people injured.

The facility, which manufactures the anti-Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) drug hydroxychloroquine, appears to have been targeted, perhaps by COVID-19 vaccine interests, in an effort to punish the company for manufacturing the inexpensive, highly effective remedy for the novel virus.

People as far away as New Taipei City, located in Taiwan’s Tamsui District, reported hearing a large blast shortly after noon on Sunday. Immediately following the blast, thick black smoke was seen pouring out of the SCI Pharmtech factory.

A 30-year-old foreign migrant worker suffered third-degree burns to about 90 percent of his body, and is now in critical condition. A 40-year-old man suffered similar burns but only on his hand. Both men were rushed to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The SCI Pharmtech factory in question is the second-largest HCQ provider in Asia. It has since been closed, meaning no more HCQ production for the time being. The nearby Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, however, remains open for travel despite being in close proximity to the deadly blast.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion, which is all too convenient having occurred just days after Big Vaccine started publicly releasing COVID-19 jabs as the alleged “cure” for the plandemic.

Hydroxychloroquine is cheap and effective against COVID-19, which is why Big Pharma wants it to go away
Back in the spring when the plandemic was first announced, the Trump administration claimed that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was on the verge of approving chloroquine and HCQ as potential remedies for COVID-19. This ultimately did not happen, though, as the agency decided to do the exact opposite by prohibiting its prescription for the novel disease.

However, some countries are still administering and using HCQ as an effective remedy for COVID-19, which seems to be a point of contention for those trying to push vaccines instead.

Because HCQ is a competitor of COVID-19 vaccines, it would appear as though powerful entities are trying to squelch it – including, potentially, through acts of terrorism, which could be what caused this explosion.

We do not yet have concrete proof of this, so consider it speculation at this point. Based on the circumstances, though, this writer would describe it more as informed speculation based on prior knowledge of how the pharmaceutical industry operates.

Just so you are aware, HCQ is a synthetic derivative of quinine, a naturally occurring compound found in cinchona bark. It is chemically different from natural quinine, though, bearing only a “small resemblance” to the real thing.

“Historically, hydroxychloroquine was discovered during efforts to synthesize alternatives to quinine as anti-malarials,” says Alan Armstrong, a professor of organic synthesis at Imperial College London.

“There is a small resemblance in chemical structure in that both contain a ring system known as quinoline,” he adds.

First developed in the 1950s from chloroquine, one of the first pharmaceutical remedies for malaria, HCQ goes under trade names like Plaquenil, Quensyl, and Plaquinol. It recently made a resurgence based on evidence suggesting that it could be an effective remedy for COVID-19.

“Hydroxychloroquine is a synthetically manufactured drug, developed based on the chemical structure of?quinine,” indicated a spokesman for the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi, which produces Plaquenil.

“Quinine?is not a component of our drug Plaquenil, the active ingredient is hydroxychloroquine.”

British tonic water manufacturer Fever Tree uses quinone in its formula, quinone being the constituent used in genuine tonic water to give it medicinal benefits. Some people are taking natural quinine instead of HCQ to try to protect themselves against COVID-19.

Staff in NHS laboratories are increasingly alarmed at the implications of the government’s turn to create a new network of “super-labs” to process what is supposed to be a rising number of tests for Covid-19, leaving 44 NHS labs under-used.

The development of a new network of labs running parallel to the NHS has taken place with no transparency and no attempt to consult with the unions.

NHS scientific staff in south London have now contacted the Lowdown to express their frustration that while they have the capacity to process large numbers of tests, the NHS labs are struggling to get supplies of the kits and the reagents required.

"President Donald Trump on Sunday evening signed the $2.3 trillion pandemic relief and spending bill after reaching an agreement with Congress over stimulus checks, Section 230, and voter fraud, the White House said.

Trump’s signing of the bill, which includes a $900 billion COVID-19 relief package, means a partial government shutdown is now averted, while financial aid for Americans will be delivered.

“As President of the United States it is my responsibility to protect the people of our country from the economic devastation and hardship that was caused by the China Virus,” Trump said in a statement.

“I am signing this bill to restore unemployment benefits, stop evictions, provide rental assistance, add money for PPP, return our airline workers back to work, add substantially more money for vaccine distribution, and much more.”

He added that “more money is coming” and vowed to “never give up” his fight for the American people.

This comes following a delay due to Congress’s failure to meet Trump’s demand to increase stimulus checks from $600 to $2,000 per person. Trump had repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction over what he describes as “wasteful” spending in the bill while Americans continue to struggle due to pandemic lockdowns.

Although the bill, passed by both houses of Congress earlier this week, was sent to the White House on Christmas Eve, Trump did not immediately act on it but instead pressured lawmakers to revisit portions of the omnibus bill that sends funding to foreign and domestic programs and to increase economic aid for Americans.

'As President of the United States it is my responsibility to protect the people of our country from the economic devastation and hardship that was caused by the China Virus.

I understand that many small businesses have been forced to close as a result of harsh actions by Democrat-run states. Many people are back to work, but my job is not done until everyone is back to work.

Fortunately, as a result of my work with Congress in passing the CARES Act earlier this year, we avoided another Great Depression. Under my leadership, Project Warp Speed has been a tremendous success, my Administration and I developed a vaccine many years ahead of wildest expectations, and we are distributing these vaccines, and others soon coming, to millions of people.

As President, I have told Congress that I want far less wasteful spending and more money going to the American people in the form of $2,000 checks per adult and $600 per child.

I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.

I am signing this bill to restore unemployment benefits, stop evictions, provide rental assistance, add money for PPP, return our airline workers back to work, add substantially more money for vaccine distribution, and much more.

On Monday the House will vote to increase payments to individuals from $600 to $2,000. Therefore, a family of four would receive $5,200. Additionally, Congress has promised that Section 230, which so unfairly benefits Big Tech at the expense of the American people, will be reviewed and either be terminated or substantially reformed.

Likewise, the House and Senate have agreed to focus strongly on the very substantial voter fraud which took place in the November 3 Presidential election.

The Senate will start the process for a vote that increases checks to $2,000, repeals Section 230, and starts an investigation into voter fraud.

THE superficial rationals they give for two agendas are contradictory. 1. Vaccinate everyone for multi-purposes of the NWO and 2. Ban everyone from travelling and with it the total demolition of the world economy that paves the way for the Great Reset, or just for punishing humans.
