Ok, I think this is a new one...

So we took the kids to the pumpkin patch today - then we split paths and my wife went to Costco and I took some of the kids home.

She can't wear the cloth masks so she uses one of those plastic shields.
The Costco person tells her "You can't wear that because you can breathe through it." Lol!

I didn't know that we were no longer allowed to breathe!

To further stress the point that these face-coverings (or masks) are ostensibly compliance devices, nothing more, this article written by Dr Gary Sidley and Dr Alan Mordue again rams home the point. They serve as an intermediary in viral, bacterial, and mucosal transmission, amongst others.

Here's an example of why it's a bad idea wearing these, and especially outside: When you exhale droplets (measured at around 5 microns) and aerosols (measured at around 1 micron) provide the means for enhancing their transmission. In effect they gain greater stability. The aim in reducing their stability is to ensure the environment allows for speedy evaporation of the moisture, and coverings hinder this - when you exhale, sneeze, talk, cough, you are expelling moisture, which is the last thing one wants to do if you want to encourage less transmission. The masks/coverings in effect become reservoirs
    .

Aside from the appalling environmental problems with these non-biodegradable objects littering the planet we have the further problem of rating. SARS-CoV-2 has been measured to around 30 - 50nm in size. The commercial products and coverings on offer are pored at around 100nm, so, the masks/coverings are operating only as a filter not as a barrier. This means they serve to ingress as well as egress all sorts of viral and other molecular debris in the environment.

Our complex and beautiful immune systems coupled with the natural oils on our skin already serve as a barrier - there is no need for these masks/coverings, at all, outside of a heavily regulated sterile clinical or laboratory environment where something like an FFP3 mask will be most effective along with say a KN95/N95, in those settings.

Anyone who advocates the use of masks and face coverings during any daily routine, and even outside ( ) actually doesn't know what they are talking about.

Avoid wearing them wherever possible in your day-to-day lives, please.

    Here's the article: https://www.hartgroup.org/masks/

Masks – do benefits outweigh the harms?
[Extracted]: Masks don’t reduce community transmission
Contrary to the Government message that it ‘follows the science’, the sudden change in advice by the WHO was not based on any new, high-quality scientific studies. By summer 2020, there was substantial evidence that non-medical masks for the general public did not reduce the transmission of respiratory viruses. A review of 14 controlled studies had concluded that masks did not significantly lessen the spread of seasonal ‘flu in the community.

A Norwegian Institute for Public Health review found that non-medical masks
achieve no benefit for healthy individuals, particularly when viral prevalence is low.
From a common sense angle, scientists had argued that cloth masks contain perforations that are far too big to act as a viral barrier and therefore ‘offer zero protection against COVID-19’.
“If a man does not keep pace with [fall into line with] his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” - Thoreau

    A personal experience

I am amazed that how "slow" many people are. Still wearing their masks like good little sheep. (Yet, I actually had some sheep once that seemed more informed than most of these people.)

Back to the story - I am standing in line at the local post office and there was a 30'ish looking guy standing there with me. He was standing right beside the sign on the wall that said "Please wear your mask. Thank you for your cooperation."

I laughed and pointed at the sign and I said, "Thank you for your stupidity!" and I laughed.

Well, the guy just looked at me kinda weird so I knew he didn't get it. So I just had to explain things to him....

The timing was good as an ambulance just went by with the siren on and I said, "All this time through the 'pandemic' I have hardly seen any ambulances - you would think that during a pandemic that the ambulance services would be overwhelmed." He was interested, so I continued...

"Now today and this week I am hearing them often. What has changed? The vaccine and boosters."

I continued, "I follow world soccer/football. There are players collapsing on the field from heart attacks - now when a healthy 22 year old is having a heart attack when he can run 12-14km in a game, you know something is wrong."

This guy then said, "Is it from covid?"

Well, at least he listened a bit to what I had to say. Geez.

Overall what he said is encouraging, but he didn't go far enough.

It's one thing to say he won't impose a mask/vaccine mandate, it's quite another thing to tell all businesses, government agencies etc. in his state NOT to impose mask/vaccine mandates!

Searching that page for "mask" goes straight to what I found interesting:

Quote New York: The Real You

The Empire State bans being masked – or in any manner disguised in public. They also don’t like groups of people all dressed the same way. I do wonder what Halloween is like in NY if this is enforced…
A little more searching finds this:

1845 LAW BANNING USE OF FACE MASKS IN NEW YORK REPEALED

Most of the first paragraph and all of the second:

Quote It’s true, there is a law in New York State that bans the wearing of masks in public, one of the many strange, outdated laws that remain on the books. N.Y. Penal Law 240.35(4) prohibits two or more people wearing masks or any face covering from congregating in a public place. This law, which has been in place since 1845, would lead to a criminal violation and up to fifteen days in prison.[...]

N.Y. Penal Law 240.35(4) was passed in response to the lowering of wheat prices. At the time, tenant farmers would cover their faces with masks and dress up as “Indians” to attack the police. The exceptions to the rule included masquerades and Halloween. The law was also used in a case against the KKK, with a revised version of the law passed in 1965. But on May 27th [2020], the bill S8415/A10446-A to repeal the law passed the New York Senate (and has also passed the Assembly) and awaits Cuomo’s signature to make it law.
    N.Y. Penal Law 240.35(4) from https://codes.findlaw.com/ny/penal-l...ct-240-35.html

Quote 4. Being masked or in any manner disguised by unusual or unnatural attire or facial alteration, loiters, remains or congregates in a public place with other persons so masked or disguised, or knowingly permits or aids persons so masked or disguised to congregate in a public place;  except that such conduct is not unlawful when it occurs in connection with a masquerade party or like entertainment if, when such entertainment is held in a city which has promulgated regulations in connection with such affairs, permission is first obtained from the police or other appropriate authorities;  or
