"The city's waterlogging problem must be the first issue reflected by the Zhengzhou flood. Zhengzhou government has invested 8.25 billion USD in the past 5 years to address the urban waterlogging problem. In 2016, Zhengzhou was selected as a provincial pilot site for the development of “Sponge City” in Henan Province.

Zhengzhou has invested a lot of human and financial resources in developing Sponge City. According to the Zhengzhou Evening News on May 29, since 2016, Zhengzhou has completed 5,162 kilometers of drainage network and the 50% utilization rate of recycled water. After implementing the Sponge City Development, Zhengzhou has eliminated 125 flood-prone sites in the city, with a 77% elimination rate.

Some people said: "Even if the contractors cut corners 10 times, as long as they follow the normal procedures to lay the foundation, the tree along the sidewalk will not grow directly to the ground. " He also said that," those new concepts of smart city and sponge city only sound fancy but useless.”

Discharged No Warning Again in Sichuan; Severe Flooding Up To 2 Meters Deep, Waterlog

    China Observer

"From the heavy rainfall that began on the night of August 6th, the water level in the tributaries of Fujiang River, Jialing River, and Qujiang River in Sichuan Province rose significantly.
10 rivers and 14 Hydrological stations exceeded warning levels, many reservoirs also exceeded their designed water levels.
From August 7th to 8th, there were heavy rainstorms in many areas in Qu County and Dazhu County.
Many nearby reservoirs discharged water without warning at night, causing floods in at least dozens of local towns and villages, affecting around one million people. The most serious flooding was in the town of Sanban, where the city was flooded to a height of two meters, causing hundreds of local merchants to be swept away by the water, with heavy economic losses.
According to a report, waterlogging occurred in Yanfeng, Tuxi, and other towns in Qu County, and numerous stores and houses were flooded.
Wanshou Street in Wanshou Town was flooded more than a meter deep overnight, and many homes along the street were soaked in water.
Local residents said that the town’s terrain was not low, but it was still flooded because there is a lake near the town.
The heavy rain caused the lake to overflow.
Dazhu County was also seriously impacted, with 31 towns affected, leading to flooding in towns and landslides blocking many roads.
The video shows streets and houses being flooded, and people shouting "the streets are flooded entirely.”
There were several people struggling in the flood, and many cars were submerged. According to Chinese media reports, as of the evening of August 8th, more than 440,000 people in 119 villages of 6 cities and 13 counties were affected in Sichuan Province, resulting in a direct economic loss of 38.5 million US Dollars.
It is said that over 80,000 people have been transferred, and no one has been reported dead or missing due to floods.
On the 8th, several trains and flights in Dazhou were forced to suspend operations. The disasters in Sichuan caused by flash floods are extensive.
In the basin around the mountainous areas and the Panxi region flash floods and mudslides often occur suddenly and concurrently, which can easily lead to river diversions and makes prevention difficult.
Among the 7,000 small reservoirs and 1,400 dangerous reservoirs in the province, some of the reservoirs are over-aged and operate with malfunctions, so their ability to prevent extreme rainstorms is poor, which affects flood safety.
After the CCP seized power, it called for "conquering and transforming nature", with the slogan "Let the mountains lower their heads and make the rivers give way".

    All rights reserved. "

(If you live in China, you'd better know how to swim!
There have been many reports about the CCP discharging waters from reservoirs at night and without warning, flooding the homes and towns of the people, then blaming it on natural causes.
I wonder how long the people will continue to stand for this...)

Review of "BREAKING – DID CHINA JUST DECLARE WAR?"
    September 4, 2021

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=6xcvDMDg8TY

"South African YouTuber, Winston Sterzel and his American friend, Matthew Tye in 2017 were two Westerners living in China and married to Chinese women, making amusing videos, sharing their excitement and love for that country and offering advice to Westerners interested in living there. They even built their own motorcycles and made road trip documentaries in the Chinese outback.

They never thought, back in 2017 that they would be forced to leave. In recent years, there’s been a major clampdown in China. Despite their having lived there for over a decade, they could no longer do simple things like buy train tickets without a Chinese government ID and Chinese policy would never enable them to become citizens. All four and their children recently moved to California.

CCP TELLS ITS CITIZENS THAT U.S. IS LAUNCHING “FEROCIOUS” ATTACKS AGAINST CHINA

I found Winston’s report very interesting, because while we, in the US, are reeling at the CCP’s apparent control of the US government, military, regulatory agencies and corporations, having stolen our elections and won Afghanistan, plus billions of dollars of matériel and trillions in infrastructure and untold reserves of lithium needed for the car batteries that we will be forced to use by the Green New Deal, which was recently passed in the infrastructure bill.

To us, the CCP seems conniving beyond imagining, with a seemingly all-powerful blackmail grip on the leaders of the West – particularly, on the Biden family.

The CCP tells a very different story to the Chinese people. Winston gives us an insight into how the Chinese Government is manipulating their people with a recent press release on the front page of Xinhua News, the official news outlet for the Chinese Communist Party that has also been published in the People’s Daily newspaper, which essentially announces a Cultural Revolution 2.0; a rejection of Capitalism, a war against the United States and a new austerity that sounds like it might be the Chinese version of the Great Reset.

Winston reads the article’s conclusion first:

“‘China is currently facing an increasingly severe and complex international environment. The United States is implementing increasingly severe military threats, economic and technological blockades, financial strikes, political and diplomatic siege against China, and is launching biological warfare, cyber warfare, and public opinion against China.'”

He says, “Remember, everybody’s read this. Nobody doesn’t read the People’s Daily….so the vast majority of the people now take it that the United States is launching biological warfare, ferocious and barbaric attacks against China and so China needs to prepare.

“The meat of the article…explains how all these changes that Xi Jinping has put into place are good and why they are going to prepare China for a war against America, because that’s what this is. I think everybody can read between the lines, here…

    DISAPPEARED BILLIONAIRES, CULTURAL REVOLUTION 2.0

“The next section then goes ahead to attack Capitalism and it’s there to attack these big enterprises in China…you [may] know …[what’s] been happening with Chinese tech companies, in particular; you know Alibaba’s IPO got shut down before it could even start to fly.

“Jack Ma, the owner of Alibaba and the IP Thieves has disappeared and is now no longer in the limelight. He’s been quashed and taken out, along with a lot of other Chinese billionaires, who have been silenced or been taken care of and a lot of big companies like DiDi.

“You saw what happened with DiDi tried to list in the American Stock Exchange – they did list on the American Stock Exchange and then suddenly, China pulled a big number on them and removed their apps from the store and the stock fell…

    “It says,

“‘The series of rectification actions by the People’s Republic of China are telling us that China is undergoing major changes, from the economic, financial, cultural, and political fields to a profound change, or a profound revolution.

“This is important wording, Guys. This…is now, in black and white, on Chinese state media, saying that the Cultural Revolution 2.0 has begun…It’s something that I’ve been predicting for a very long time would happen. I didn’t realize that it would start happening and being acknowledged so soon. Anyway, let’s continue:

“‘This is a return from the capital group to the masses of the people, and this is a transformation from capital-centered to people-centered. Therefore, this is a political change, the people are becoming the main body of this change again, and all those who block this people-centered change will be discarded.

“What he’s doing is he’s talking about Jack Ma and the other billionaires – and anyone who’s kind of drunk on the idea of Western capitalism: You will be discarded if you get in the way of this people-orientated revolution that they’re talking about here.

“See, now they’re making enemies out of Capitalism, here; making enemies out of the idea of Capitalism and saying that it has to go back to ‘people-orientated’, rather than Capitalism-orientated…This is the wording coming out of the government here, Guys. This is what everyone’s reading in China.

“‘This profound change is also a return, a return to the original intention of the Chinese Communist Party, a return to the people-centered nature, and a return to the essence of socialism.’

Winston says, “They want to now return to the core idea of the Chinese Communist Party, which is to hate Capitalism, hate the West and try to do its failed experiment all over again.

“Now, this paragraph that I’m about to read next, this is an important one:

“‘This change will wash away all the dirt. The capital market will no longer become a paradise for capitalists to get rich overnight, the cultural market will no longer be a paradise for nymphomaniac stars, and news and public opinion will no longer be a position for worshipping Western culture.

“See how they’re demonizing Western culture? Demonizing the idea of the entertainment industry and demonizing Capitalism, all in the first bloody sentence, there? Let’s continue:

“‘The return of red, the return of heroes, and the return of blood. Therefore, we need to control all cultural chaos and build a lively, healthy, masculine, strong, and people-oriented culture. We need to crack down on the chaos of big capital manipulation, platform monopoly, and bad money driving out good money in the capital market. Guide the flow of funds to entity enterprises, to high-tech enterprises, and to the manufacturing industry.

    ENGLISH-LEARNING APPS BEING SHUT DOWN

“The next part he’s talking about the chaos in the education industry and how it has to basically be reformed, so that it’s ‘fair’ for the people. (Sarcastically) That’s why we’re seeing all the training centers being shut down; apps, like Duolingo, other English-learning apps being shut down.

“You know, it’s not being shut down out of fairness, okay? For parents, when it comes to teaching their children – because parents want their children to learn – it’s their own choice that’s being shut down, because they don’t want Western influence to creep in through the English language, which is something that has been happening for years and years.

“Because, when you learn English you tend to learn Western culture at the same time…Anyone who’s learned Chinese, you learn Chinese poems, you learn about ancient Chinese history, things like that and the same thing goes with English. When you learn English you learn about the culture, you get some of the influence – and the Chinese Communist Party is deadly afraid of this.

    “The piece continues,

“‘The current efforts to rectify the entertainment, art, and film and television circles are far from enough. We must use all means to combat the various star-chasing and fan-chasing phenomena that exist in the current society. Completely put an end to the phenomenon of nymphomaniacs and small fresh meat in the social character…

“Shaoxin ro, ‘little fresh meat’…I’ve got to explain that one to you. A ‘little fresh meat’ is what people refer to those very feminine male stars in China. You know the ones I’m talking about. Very very white skin, very delicate features, you know, very prissy. You know exactly what I’m talking about, kind of like Korean boy bands…

“So, they want to get rid of the this whole fan clout-chasing thing; doesn’t want people to worship nymphomaniacs and little fresh meats in society. So, he doesn’t want young people to aspire to be any of these kind of celebrities. That’s the gist of it, right?

“This last bit is, again quite worrying, because this is basically just Cultural Revolution stuff.” He says, “‘laborers and ordinary people will become the protagonists and masters of literature and art.'” So, it will be the ordinary man who’s going to be the protagonists, the stars. This is all that old Marxist garbage rhetoric that they’ve done in the past.

WILL WE REPLY TO THESE LIES?

“What I’m going to stress, once more is that while here, in the Western World, we are walking on eggshells, worried about being called a racist, because we say that the virus came from Wuhan – where it really did – China is putting out things like this, that are calling us the enemy; that are saying that we are not only conducting biological and cyber attack warfare against China and the Chinese people but we are an enemy of the Chinese people and Western values and ideas are an enemy of the Chinese people.

“And here we sit, worried that we’re going to be called a racist because we say factual statements. It has made us as a society in the West, incredibly weak and easy pickings for a very strong, steadfast government like the CCP, who allows opinions like this to go out in the biggest state media…

“They encourage people to consume this, because that is their end goal, if you hadn’t noticed. It is what’s being said in this particular document is exactly what the Chinese Communist Party has been doing, with all these changes: cracking down on the entertainment industry, cracking down on the tech industry and on business; capitalist billionaires and that are all fleeing or they’ve been locked up or what have you; the educational system where they’ve banned all foreign textbooks and are now banning for-profit training centers and even language exchange apps.

“This [press release], right here is factual. It’s not an opinion. So what are we doing, Rest-of-the-World? What are we doing when we allow China to badmouth us all like this, to our face, to 1.4 billion Chinese people?

“What are we doing? We show them nothing but respect. We worry about hurting their feelings – hurting the feelings of the Chinese people. It’s about time that this stops. It’s about time that we face this kind of insult head-on and we reply to things like this – not at all, directing any of our negative energy or grievances towards Chinese people but to the government that allows this sort of rhetoric to be blasted out. Maybe it is time for the rest of the world to wake up. Take this and give a proper reply to the CCP.”

    Truth of China

sorry for the negative energy videos here. I delete the videos now.

To be honest, I still believe China will not fight with US.

If we fight, that will be like the Gragons will fight with Jesus.

I don't believe or hope it will happen. Chinese are not a fighting country. Normal people like me, we just need a simple and peaceful life.

Hope all of you can understand my Chinese heart.

"Nations are scrutinizing a Chinese-made genetics test. The test is used on pregnant women around the world. And the company that produces it has ties to the Chinese military.

When exactly did the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus outbreak begin in Wuhan? A top epidemiologist reveals he first heard about it back in mid-December 2019—two weeks before it was reported to the World Health Organization.

China's Three Gorges Dam sees a 23-year record high water level. Landslides strike China in at least three areas, destroying homes and killing several people along the way.

NATO voices concerns about China’s nuclear expansion.

And a European country no longer wants its ambassador in China. This comes after a disagreement with Beijing over Taiwan’s opening of a de-facto embassy.

Big Multinational Companies Leave China, Millions of Jobs Disappearing

"Ningbo Samsung Heavy Industries is located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Recently it announced its withdrawal due to a unilateral land recall by the local government. Since September 8th, thousands of employees have gathered in the factory holding banners to protest. In the video, we can see some employees pouring into the administration building, shouting "I need food". The banners read: "Youth, ideals, blood, sweat, and tears were all spilt here!" "We’re grateful to Samsung, don't give up, don't abandon us, we have children to support". From this, it’s obvious they don’t want Samsung to leave.
Many employees even protested at night. They slept on the floors in the administration building or outside on the lawn. The latest news is that tens of thousands of employees and their families are participating in the protest. However, many videos and pictures related to the protest on social media of mainland China have been removed.
They also have another important appeal, they hope that the company will offer 3N compensation for termination of the employment agreement, that is, they want to be compensated by three months' salary for each year of employment.
In recent years, under the anti-Japan, anti-South Korea, anti-Europe and anti-U.S. trends instigated by the CCP, news of Samsung’s withdrawal from China has continued to spread. Since Samsung Electronics officially entered Vietnam in 2012, Samsung Electronics Shenzhen closed and withdrew in 2018; in 2019 Samsung closed its last cell phone factory in Huizhou; and in 2020 Samsung's last computer factory in China, the laptop production line of Suzhou Samsung Electronics Computer moved out of China, keeping only its R&D department. After closing Samsung Heavy Industries in Ningbo this year, Samsung will close its last TV factory in Tianjin in November, and withdraw from communist China completely.
Let’s take a look at what the Chinese government has done over the years: vilifying foreign companies’ products, and establishing party branches in them. Those who do not build party branches are forced to leave. Using official media to incite patriotism, inciting the public to smash foreign-brand stores and burn their products. This is what happened when they boycotted Uniqlo and Nike. When they did so, did they consider how many people would lose their jobs?
Under the influence of the CCP’s propaganda, and facing the withdrawal of foreign companies like Samsung, most people in the lower social class are completely indifferent, as if these leaving companies are all losers, since leaving China means leaving their biggest market.
In fact, the importance of foreign companies to China's economy is not what they imagined. There are more than 20,000 foreign companies in Guangzhou, the output value from these companies account for 62% of the city’s total industrial output value from enterprises; in Shanghai, where giant state-owned enterprises gather, foreign companies contribute 2/3 of the city’s total import and export and total industrial output value; in Suzhou, an important industrial town in the Yangtze River Delta, the output value of foreign based companies account for 67.8% of the total; in Xiamen, foreign companies contribute 70% of the industrial output value. And in Shenzhen, the bridgehead to the outside, this proportion is already over 70%.
Foreign companies have brought about 40 million direct jobs to China, and if we include other companies in the industrial chain, the total number of jobs created is over 100 million. With so many people relying on foreign companies for their livelihood, it is hard to understand that the CCP is still inciting the public to hate foreign companies.
Only those employees, who lost their jobs, can really feel the pain, most of them are the backbone of their families. They have bought houses and cars with high-income from foreign companies. Once they lose their jobs, what awaits them is not only the huge pressure of supporting their families, but also the heavy amount of debt. "

296 Million Cubic Meters Reservoir Spillway Destroyed by Flood, Reasons Behind Tofu Dreg Projects

"On September 1st, due to heavy rainfall and upstream flooding, the end of the spillway of Eping Hydropower Station was destroyed, the washout pit has an area of about 1500 square meters with a maximum depth of 15m. The retaining wall on the right bank of the spillway collapsed and caved in. This Hydropower station is located in Zhuxi County, Hubei Province.
To avoid danger, the local government immediately organized emergency repairs. At the same time, a total of 5456 people from 15 villages downstream were transferred.
The Reservoir has a total storage capacity of 296 million cubic meters.
Eping Hydropower Station is located upstream of the Duhe River, and about 70km downstream is Pankou Hydropower Station, whose reservoir covers a water area of 61 square kilometers with a total storage capacity of 2.34 billion cubic meters.
About 87km downstream from the Pankou Reservoir, the Duhe River joins the Hanjiang River in Yunyang District of Shiyan City, and 120km downstream from there is the Danjiangkou Reservoir, which has a water area of over 1,000 square kilometers with a storage capacity of 29.05 billion cubic meters. The Danjiangkou Reservoir is also the water source of the Central Line for the South-North Water Transfer Project.
Eping Reservoir and Pankou Reservoir are located in the Daba Mountains. Both sides of the rivers are steep, and the riverbeds have a large drop along with the water flow. Once the dam of Eping Reservoir collapses, the water is bound to rush rapidly downstream to Pankou Reservoir. If the Pankou dam breaks, more than 2 billion cubic meters of water will continue downstream to the Danjiangkou Reservoir, and if that breaks, more than 30 billion cubic meters of water will cause enormous damage to the downstream cities of Lao-he-kou, Xiangyang, Jingzhou, and Wuhan. Even people living in the other areas along the downstream of Yangtze River will be affected. This effect is known as the “dam-break domino effect”, or simply “snowball effect”.
On May 31, 2011, Eping was officially connected to the grid for power generation, which marked the completion of the main project of the Hydropower Station.
Here comes the question. The Eping Hydropower Station has only been in operation for 15 years. How did the spillway get destroyed, and the retaining wall on the right bank collapse? Is this another typical tofu dreg project of China?"

Why People Live in Unfinished Buildings (Rotten Ended Buildings) in China

"In China, the phenomenon of rotten-ended buildings has been widespread for many years and is related to the reform of China's housing system.
On July 3, 1998, the Chinese State Council issued The Notice on Further Reform of the Urban Housing System and Speeding up Housing Development. It clarified the direction of marketization, monetization, and commercialization reform of urban housing and initiated a thorough reform of the housing system. It ended the "physical distribution of housing" and implemented monetization of housing allocation, creating a housing supply system based on market supply.
Since then, the real estate sector has become one of the key drivers of China's rapid economic growth.
Zhang Dawei, the chief analyst of Centaline Property, said that the various quality and delivery problems in the real estate market are basically all related to the pre-sale system.
The presale ratio of houses in major cities in China is generally above 80%, and in some cities, it is even above 90%.
This presale system allows small businesses with little capital strength to become real estate developers. As long as they pay the government for the land and have a little money to start the project, they can start collecting money from the pre-sales, and at the same time they can take out a loan for the project.
For the Chinese Communist government, as long as they get the money from land sales, it’s not a big concern as to whether the project will ultimately be completed or not. So in the construction of real estate projects, there are situations where developers go bankrupt or simply run away with the money, leaving the projects to rot. In fact, no matter the reason for the real estate project failures, the loss ultimately falls on the buyer (general public) in the end. "

(These huge projects in China seem to almost invariably result in huge problems.)

Dear Onawah, thank you for the post, which entices me to pen something after five years of silence on Avalon, a Forum that is important to me.
Forgive me, but I am under the impression that even the alternative media in the United States feel it is necessary to state only “bad things” about China, the way they used to do, but do to a letter extent now, about “Islamia”. This need is puzzling to me, who am not American, not Anglo-Saxon, yet an admirer of the great philosophers, writers, poets, artists and musicians who flourished in English-language civilisation.
Don’t you think that the publication of these statements, this mixed bag of statements, may profit from a little introduction and/or qualification?
I do not feel enthused by the idea that the English-language “entertainment industry” should in any way need to be defended against “Chinese culture”, especially not in China itself. I tend to consider the latter to be immensely more valuable than the first.
I also think that the writings of Henry David Thoreau are immensely more valuable than the thoughts of Chairman Mao.
Let us agree that the pursuit of the highest values is something to be defended at all times. Entertainment does not belong to these values, Joy does. And yes, entertainment can at times add to that Joy. But then again Joy wants “organic” values, not the industrial variety.

Hello Michel and welcome back to the forum.
As to post #208, all I did there was copy and paste a review of and commentary from a man who has spent quite a few years traveling, studying and living in China.
I did not post any of my own views there, but I have watched quite a few of his videos about his experiences in China, and I think his views are worthy of consideration.
It's difficult to get any credible news about China because the CCP is so censorious, so I have limited the info I post here to the few sources I have found which I consider to be credible, and I don't consider that to be "entertainment" at all.
I have never been to China, and as far as my interest in Chinese culture goes, it's fairly limited.
I practiced Zen in my younger years, studied the I Ching and I am a fan of acupuncture and the classic Chinese medicine, but as for modern China, I am not a fan of the CCP.
I am concerned about the non-humane values of Communism as it is practiced in general and how the CCP in particular is affecting the rest of the world, as well as the citizens of China.
The Far Left in the US is being influenced by the CCP, which is putting our human rights globally in jeopardy, so I think the Left would be well advised to take a closer look at the lot of the Chinese citizenry.
I am especially concerned about the 3 Gorges Dam, which seems to be in fairly imminent danger of collapse, a catastrophe which will have dire consequences, and not just locally.
I hope that that answers your question.

Perhaps I should add that I don't consider the CCP to be the only source of danger when it comes to the elimination of human rights.
It appears to share many goals with what is known as the Deep State, the cabal, the elite, etc. made up of individuals from all over the world who share common goals of world domination, depopulation, etc. and which I also think are being influenced by off-world entities (which are using them all as pawns).
Not that they are united, rather they are in competition for control and resources.

To be honest, it shocked me when seeing the post about Zhejiang Province. I don't know what happened to them and the true reason behind them.

But these days, my aunt from Zhejiang Province came to my home to take good care of my mother. When she arrived at my home, there would be a weather report about Level 12 strong winds and heavy rains in Zhejiang Province. Is it an accident?
I pray for those poor souls.

I think China treats Lifechanyuan bad and from the posts your sharings, I can tell there are many bad souls doing bad things in China.

On Avalon, we don't just focus on any one source of evil in the world today, and we search hard for and look closely at the credible news, so as to to decipher accurately what is really happening behind the scenes.

Not the mainstream news propaganda that the globalists prefer that we believe (and they are meddling in every country).

Many of us here have been doing that for a long time, and have gotten pretty good at it.

You might want to read back further in this thread to find out more of what is going on in China that is generally hidden from the Chinese people.

Although, as I have written before, it's especially difficult to find credible information about China because the Chinese Communist Party censors the news so heavily.

And it may be perilous for someone inside of China to post information on the Internet that is not favorable to the CCP, as they are reportedly doing a lot of monitoring to make sure that their own citizens aren't blowing the whistle on them.

It may also be difficult to know just what they might take "personally" as criticism.

I'm sure we Avalonians wish you well and hope you can fulfill your dream of visiting other communities around the world.

But the way things are going now, that may become increasingly difficult, especially if you are already considered a dissident.

    Just a word of caution...

...Though I wouldn't want to discourage you either from speaking truth.

But whistleblowers have to be careful as well as courageous if they want to survive.

A personal observation: news from (or about) China is pretty important in today's world. I follow this thread too, and I've grown to understand that there's a huge range of quality, sensationalism and accuracy among the many YouTube channels that comment on events in China.

For sure, some channels are pretty awful and are well worth ignoring. But for me (from what I can figure out!), China Observer is one of the most grounded, intelligent and reliable.

Thank onawah and Bill for kindly telling me the truth about the reality of the world and China.

I will keep an eye to see China Observer channel.

    It's okay for me.

So, I am not in danger, I am just a normal person.

Anyway, thank you for telling what Avalon members have done. I will learn more about it.
