"Floods in mainland China have become common in the last decade. Last summer, floods in Zhengzhou, Henan also killed hundreds of people. Since June, floods have swept through the southern and eastern provinces of China, creating tragic situations for the Chinese.

The Guangdong province experienced record flooding from June 21.

The floods in Guangdong have portrayed a tragic scene in the last few years.
Unfortunately, floods coincide with the harvest season, so farmers may lose their crops.

As Net Ease reported, the Beijiang River in Yingde City, Guangdong, reached 36 meters high and exceeded the warning limit of 10 meters on June 22. "

(The explanation from the guys as to what's behind the COVID lockdown is that it's because the officials of the 2 cities where it's being done so tyrannically are in competition for the approval of the CCP.)

"Tesla is no longer leading the world's electric vehicle market. A Chinese company has taken its place. But how?

The U.S calls on a leading production equipment maker in the Netherlands. Washington wants it to stop selling gear to China—a move that could deal another major blow to Chinese microchip manufacturers.

The U.S. says it's watching Taiwan closely, and keeping an eye on Beijing’s moves toward the island.

(More examples of the breath-takingly hypocritical propaganda that issues forth regularly from the CCP, which never fail to amaze me.)

"Foreigners are fleeing China en masse. China is kicking some of them out, some are leaving under duress, and many just see the writing on the wall. The party is over. "

'This is huge. Don't know how this will end. Henan bank is NOT the only one that is having problems with liquidity. All four Chinese banks are having the same issue. Some depositors found they can save and can NOT withdraw money with their bank cards. '

China's Financial Crisis is Approaching | Precursors to the Collapse of China’s Financial System

"The uproar over the disappearance of about 6 billion USD worth of deposits of more than 400,000 depositors in several village banks in Henan has lasted for more than two months, and depositors are still unable to take out their deposits. Thousands of Henan village bank victims from all over the country gathered in front of the People's Bank of China in Zhengzhou, Henan, in the early hours of July 10 to protest.
On July 11, in view of the pressure from various parties, the Henan Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau and the Henan Provincial Local Financial Supervision Bureau issued an announcement stating that the principal of the customers in four involved village banks will be advanced in batches.
On July 6, two village banks in Hebei announced their dissolution and whose business and property were acquired by Zhangjiakou Bank.
Recently, the Bank of Nanjing, which has total assets of 1.75 trillion yuan, has been in trouble again.
In addition, the debt crisis in the real estate industry has gradually spread to the financial industry.
Once the financial crisis breaks out in banks, people's deposits will disappear or cannot be withdrawn at will. The banks and the government collude with each other in the name of maintaining order, which has already led to public discontent. As more and more crises break out in the property market, local institutions, and eventually the entire financial system, it will surely shake the rule of the Chinese Communist Party."

Of course all of these problems will disappear overnight as soon as they do away with cash and rely solely on their CBDC.

(One of the subjects discussed is mental health in China which is, not surprisingly, a big problem.
In part because there is no recourse for the ill [other than pharmaceuticals] such as mental health clinics or hospitals.
Families of the ill are expected to take full responsibility for the affected family member.
It has led to mass stabbings all over China [guns are hard to come by there, so knives are the favored weapon].
Narcissim also seems to be at epidemic proportions judging from the subject matter covered in the begining part of the video.
Not to mention the kind of psychosis that is the result of the overt racist and nationalist propaganda the people are constantly being subjected to by the psychotic CCP.
    Other subjects covered:
The economic problems as related to real estate investing
The affluent foreigners as well as those who are not (including even those who have acted as shills for the CCP) are leaving China now in droves
US has banned cotton which the Uyghurs in China are being forced to pick, but China is still trying to sell the cotton by lying about the origin
    and more...)

China On Verge Of Violent Debt Jubilee As 'Disgruntled' Homebuyers Refuse To Pay Their Mortgage
    July 14, 2022
    By Tyler Durden

While US snowflakes are all too happy to talk the talk (which remains free, even despite Biden’s hyperinflation), Chinese residents are increasingly walking the walk. First, it was the violent outcry against mandatory covid vaccines that put an end to Beijing’s desire to forcibly innoculate all Beijing residents in just 48 hours – a feat not all of America’s armed militias have been able to achieve, and now it’s a grassroots push for what appears to be a debt jubillee as millions of homeowners suddenly stop paying their mortgages, a shocking move that has sent shockwaves across China’s capital markets and has sparked panic within China’s political leadership circles.

As Bloomberg reports overnight, a rapidly increasing number of “disgruntled Chinese homebuyers” are refusing to pay mortgages for unfinished construction projects, exacerbating the country’s real estate woes and stoking fears that the crisis will spread to the wider financial system as countless mortgages default.

According to researcher China Real Estate Information, homebuyers have stopped mortgage payments on at least 100 projects in more than 50 cities as of Wednesday, up from 58 projects on Tuesday and only 28 on Monday, according to Jefferies Financial Group Inc. analysts including Shujin Chen.

“The names on the list doubled every day in the past three days,” Chen wrote in a note published Thursday. “The incident would dampen buyer sentiment, especially for presold products offered by private developers given the higher risk on delivery, and weigh on the gradual sales recovery.”

The French Embassy even retweeted a tweet comparing the events in Sri Lanka to the French Revolution. Yet the silence from Beijing that immediately followed the collapse of the Rajapaksa regime (and the word salad from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that finally emerged) should not be confused for a lack of interest. The fall of the Rajapaksa government in Sri Lanka will have considerable long-term implications for Chinese international politics—if the family doesn’t claw its way back into power.

Members of the Rajapaksa family have held public offices in Sri Lanka for more than half a century. The current generation that includes Mahinda Rajapaksa and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, both of whom have been president, are the grandchildren of Don David Rajapaksa, who held a powerful colonial post when Sri Lanka was controlled by the British Empire. Their father was a deputy speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament after the country’s independence. Many other family members have held government positions. The family has nearly cornered political power in Sri Lanka for much of this century, and its power has come with conspicuous corruption.

China has a long relationship with Sri Lanka generally and the Rajapaksa family specifically. Sri Lanka was among the first noncommunist countries to recognize China after the Chinese Civil War concluded. When Gotabaya Rajapaksa, then the defense minister to his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa, was planning the campaign that would defeat the Tamil Tigers in the 2000s with Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, it was China that provided the arms.

When word reached the United Nations of heavy weapons use and atrocities by the Sri Lankan military in its campaign against the Tamil Tigers, China blocked efforts to even pass a statement of warning against attacks on civilians. When Mexico attempted to have Sri Lanka placed on the formal discussion agenda of the United Nations, China kept it off. When the campaign concluded in victory, then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa publicly thanked China for its assistance in the war.

China’s investment wasn’t just in Sri Lanka; it was specifically in the Rajapaksa family. This is not uncommon in Chinese diplomacy. Chinese leaders often seek to develop relations directly with elites and their families, ignoring opportunities for engagement with civil society or the broader public. Entreaties to the leaders of Papua New Guinea and the warm reception that Chinese President Xi Jinping received led to domestic perceptions of elite capture. Relationships where the size and structure of the respective economies are deeply asymmetric present particularly inviting opportunities.

The economic fragility of the smaller country offers leverage in negotiations. Chinese leaders have also sought to promote autocratic norms in their relationships with international partners. The Chinese government cultivated relations with the Rajapaksa family by offering expensive vanity projects, such as Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in southern Sri Lanka, which was principally funded by a high interest loan from a Chinese bank and has operated at a loss since it opened.

Many of these projects predated the commencement of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013. But Chinese investment in the Rajapaksa family grew during the BRI era. During Mahinda Rajapaksa’s 2015 campaign, at least $7.6 million went directly from a majority state-owned Chinese corporation to Rajapaksa’s campaign expenditures. Hundreds of thousands of dollars went to pay for “gifts” to supporters of Rajapaksa. The Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka even openly lobbied for voters to pick Rajapaksa.

When Rajapaksa still lost and a new government came to power, the bitter fruit of this corrupt arrangement became clear. The state was charged with paying massive loans from Chinese banks for infrastructure projects bearing the name of Rajapaksa. And when it could not pay, it was induced to offer a 99-year lease on a port near the hometown of the Rajapaksa family. These maneuvers were not merely commercial ones. When Sri Lankan officials discussed the terms of the port agreement with their Chinese counterparts, Chinese officials were frank that they saw intelligence and strategic value in the possession of the port.

As the Rajapaksas prepared to return to power in multiple government offices, they remained linked to Chinese funding. In 2018, a Chinese-Sri Lankan joint venture that specialized in container shipping was forced to admit it had donated more than $55,000 to a charity controlled by the sister-in-law of Mahinda Rajapaksa. The inability of the Rajapaksas to manage the country’s spiraling economic crisis only exacerbated these embarrassments.

The port, with its proximity to major global shipping routes and the military base at Diego Garcia, is strategically important. Whether the so-called string of pearls strategy (a strategy of port acquisition to increase Chinese military and economic reach, which was posited by a Washington consulting firm nearly two decades ago and has been very influential) is real or not, the port has expanded options for Chinese power projection. The events in Sri Lanka pose considerable risk to Chinese ambitions in the country and the region. Considering how ardently protesters loath the Rajapaksa family, it is likely that any new government will seek to position itself in opposition to the family and its positions.

While Chinese ties with other Sri Lankan figures are not nearly as deep, China’s position looks potentially frail. In the midst of the worst financial crisis in the country’s living memory, foreign debt accumulated by corrupt leaders offers an easy target for political actors seeking new followers. By engaging almost solely at the elite level of the Rajapaksas, Chinese assets in Sri Lanka are now at risk. The issue of Chinese assets is well known by Sri Lankans and has prompted serious protests before.

Sri Lanka is unlikely to be the only country where entrenched leaders are confronted by an angry populace this year. The island’s economic crisis was intensified by the transnational issue of inflation and supply chain disruptions from the global pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It became an uber-crisis, each individual failure building on the others. There is even a paper shortage in Sri Lanka that caused commentators to ponder whether there would be enough ballots to hold an election. Given the disproportionate way that mounting global economic tensions may be felt over the next year, leadership in other developing countries will be under pressure.

In the immediate term, Beijing is unlikely to make any sudden moves. The Sri Lankan revolution, the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe amid Japan’s election season, and the continued threat of COVID-19 and economic turmoil have all created an unsettled mood ahead of the Chinese Communist Party’s critical National Congress this fall. With some key decisions likely waiting for the leadership retreat at Beidaihe along China’s northeast coast late in the summer, Beijing is likely to maneuver cautiously while rhetorically denouncing the successful popular movement that overthrew the Rajapaksas. China and Russia frequently denounce popular politics and protest movements that are unfriendly to authoritarian regimes as “color revolutions.”

The positions of any new Sri Lankan government cannot be known at this point. Sri Lanka’s first priority will necessarily be the economic crisis—and it may turn to China for help there regardless of its ties to the Rajapaksas. But the upheaval presents a challenge to Beijing’s effort to change the balance of power in the Indo-Pacific in its favor—and of the strategy of elite cultivation it prefers. Whatever the returns China gained for the time and money spent cultivating the Rajapaksas and their associates though, the payoff may be much worse than expected.

China’s response to bank protests hints at a wider problem
    Stephen Bartholomeusz
    July 12, 2022

It’s a bit hard to have a run on a bank when the depositors can’t get access to their funds, are assaulted by what appear to be plainclothes police when they protest, and China’s strict COVID regulations and the technology that supports them are used to flag protestors as health risks, which prevents them from using public transport or entering buildings.

The protest and assaults occurred at the weekend when an estimated 1000 depositors in rural banks in central China’s Henan province tried to protest a freezing of their funds that dates back to April. During an earlier protest last month protestors found that the health codes on their phones had turned red, which designates them as health risks and limits their mobility.

Initially depositors in the Henan banks were told they couldn’t access their funds because the banks were upgrading their systems, but it subsequently emerged that China’s authorities had started an investigation of allegations that a private investment company that had stakes in four small banks had colluded with bank employees to solicit funds via online finance platforms, which is illegal in China. Police in the province arrested a number of people associated with the private investment group, Henan Xincaifu Investment Group Holding Co.

Whether or not there was some sort of fraud involved in the Henan banks, the heavy-handed response of the authorities to the threat of a run on the banks and to the protests suggests something with wider significance. There have been reports of protests in other provinces.

Provincial banks historically marketed themselves to prospective depositors outside their regions using the big Chinese online platforms, but were banned from using third parties last year during the crackdown on the big tech companies, with the authorities citing potential financial risks. Since the ban, some smaller banks have created their own online marketing channels.

There is concern that the banks have attracted deposits by offering interest rates that are unsustainable in the current Chinese economic environment, with growth slowing quite dramatically because of the continuing lockdowns that result from China’s harsh “zero COVID” policy as well as soaring energy costs, droughts and floods.

Scenes like those at the weekend raise the risk of contagion within China’s banking system as depositors at other banks worry about losing access to their life savings.

When China’s second-quarter GDP data is released later this week, it is expected to have a “1” in front of it, which would have been unthinkable in pre-pandemic times.

In this environment, the potential for bank failures and bank runs, particularly among the smaller and less well-supervised banks, is real.

Scenes like those at the weekend – videos of the protests and the police response were circulated widely, and internationally, on social media – raise the risk of contagion within China’s banking system as depositors at other banks worry about losing access to their life savings.

Whether or not there is fraud involved in Henan, or if it is more a matter of the banks not being able to generate sufficient income to service the interest rates they offered to attract the deposits, it isn’t all that surprising that there are some stresses emerging within China’s banking system.

The implosion of the country’s property sector (after a heavy-handed crackdown on leverage) has generated a string of major property developer defaults on their debts. It has also damaged local governments heavily reliant on income from property sales to developers as the developers’ sales to home buyers have more than halved over the past year, and had a wider impact on a Chinese economy where more than 30 per cent of GDP is exposed to the property sector.

Despite central government attempts to prop up the sector with rate cuts, relaxation of lending restrictions, incentives to take out mortgages and voucher programs for future home purchases, mortgage lending in the first quarter of this year was at its lowest level on record.

So dire is the plight of developers that some of them in rural China are now offering to accept garlic, wheat, barley and even watermelons as payment for deposits.

And the dominoes keep falling at the big end of the property sector. Last month, ratings agency Moody’s said it had downgraded 91 developers over the past nine months. In the decade to December 2020, it had only downgraded 56.

Analysts have estimated there have been 30 defaults by companies with more than $US1 trillion ($1.5 trillion) in debt since Beijing introduced its “three red lines” policy restricting developers’ leverage in late 2020.

Last week, Shimao Group defaulted on a $US1 billion bond and this week China Evergrande, which defaulted on its offshore bonds late last year, moved closer to a default on its domestic debt after creditors refused to extend a deadline for repayment of their debts.

A domestic default by Evergrande would have major ripple effects through the sector. Until now, it has been primarily foreign creditors and owners of uncompleted apartments bearing the brunt of the property sector’s losses.

There’s also another $US13 billion or so of foreign currency bond payments due before the end of this year, which could drive another wave of defaults.

China’s authorities are clearly concerned because they are creating a bailout fund with capital provided by the major financial institutions as a contingency against potential collapses of banks or insurers.

They would have an eye not just on the stresses within China’s domestic financial system but the increased volatility within international markets and the divergence between China’s monetary policies and those of the US and Europe, which are tightening their policies even as China is loosening its monetary settings.

While the official data is yet to show any signs of a blow-out in non-performing loans within China’s banking system, that data is viewed with some cynicism by analysts outside China. It is almost inconceivable that the turmoil within the property sector hasn’t had a material impact on bank balance sheets.

The COVID lockdowns (there’s been another outbreak in Shanghai), the general slowdown in China’s economy, an exodus of foreign capital as interest rates in the US rise, and fear of being caught up in the West’s sanctions on those doing business (as China is doing) with Russia won’t help.

According to Bloomberg, Beijing’s Ministry of Finance is considering allowing local governments to sell the equivalent of $US220 billion of special bonds in the second half of this year, which would presage an attempt to generate growth through another big burst of infrastructure spending.

That’s another sign that the authorities are concerned about the trajectory of the economy and the vulnerability that its weakness might expose even as Xi Jinping readies himself for the Communist Party’s endorsement of an unprecedented third term as the party’s chairman later this year.

Another Punch to China's Financial System: Mortgage Payments Halted for Unfinished Buildings

"The debt crisis in China's real estate industry is impacting banks gradually.
Since this year, the problem of halted construction and rotten residential buildings has been intensifying all over China due to broken capital chains.
In recent days, the owners of unfinished properties have collectively decided to stop repaying their mortgages to the bank until the projects are fully resumed.
According to a July 14 report by China Business Network, about 150 residential projects mortgage suspensions have been reported, in about 20 provinces and nearly 70 cities.
And the mortgage suspension trend is getting stronger and stronger, many owners who are troubled by unfinished buildings have followed suit, which is likely to continue throughout the country.
Some analysts say that once the wave of loan suspensions breaks out, it will not only have a negative impact on China's property market, but will also have a fatal blow to some local banks, which in turn will affect the stability of the whole financial system."

Naomi Wolf: The CCP Has Infiltrated The American Health System, Covid Injections Produced By CCP

    (This makes perfect, terrifying sense)

    • Naomi Wolf: The CCP Has Infiltrated The American Health System, Covid Injections Produced By CCP:

Based on the research of her website’s team over at DailyClout.io, Naomi Wolf believes that Joe Biden’s White House is hostage to the CCP and that the death shot is actually being mandated by China, who presumably want to kill the majority of Americans, so they can come in and grab our land.

Naomi reports that there was a 100% tech transfer at the end of 2021 between BioNTech and Fosun Pharmaceuticals, in Shanghai China, the latter of which is owned by a senior CCP member.

Wolf says Fosun is currently manufacturing 1 billion doses of the “vaccine”, however, their product is not being used by China. She says, “I’ve long been haunted by the fact that it would be the easiest thing in the world for our adversary – our existential adversary – China, under the guise of the pandemic – to infiltrate our medical supply.

“We don’t know – no journalist has asked – except me and a handful of others where are these injections coming from? And the FDA is clearly captured.

“Well, I have bad news but it’s better to know. The CCP is manufacturing these injections in the United States. And here’s what I mean: Fosun Shanghai has now opened FosunPharmaUSA.com…they’ve opened a facility in Boston, Massachusetts and a facility in Princeton, New Jersey, where they’re manufacturing and distributing Pfizer products.

“And Fosun Pharmaceuticals is owned by Sinopharm, which is owned by the Chinese Communist Party and not only that, but they’re shareholders in Sinopharm, which is a state-run, state-owned pharmaceutical company, as there’s no such thing as private industry in China.

“So not only are our adversaries the ones manufacturing and distributing this, not just in America but also in ten other Western countries. I’m going to read two long paragraphs but bear with me. You can follow them and I’ll explain them:

Continuously strengthening the global operation capability and making further enhancement.

For globalization, Fosun Pharma has formed a global operating system for R&D, manufacturing and commercialization, and continuously expands overseas markets. Revenue in regions outside the Chinese Mainland and overseas countries in 2021 was RMB13,599 million, accounting for 34.86% of the total revenue. Globalization capability is continuously strengthened. The second headquarters in the United States help to build a global business landscape with full coverage of R&D, manufacturing and commercialization…

In January and March 2022, Fosun Pharmaceutical Industrial obtained the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP)’s license to produce and supply the generic version of Merck’s oral COVID-19 treatment Molnupiravir and Pfizer’s oral COVID-19 treatment Nirmatrelvir, as well as the co-packaged product of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir of Pfizer, to agreed low- and middle-income countries. The license includes both ingredients and the finished drug.

“And again, those are hubs in Princeton and in Boston, distributing this. They issued another press release, boasting about their approval of the antigen detection kit, of Fosun Diagnostics and the PCR detection kit.

“So, literally every time your business says, ‘You have to test every week! You have to test every week! You have to test every week!’ it’s China putting whatever that material is in your nostrils. It’s China manufacturing it. And it’s China manufacturing the pill and the license for the injections…

“So, again, Fosun is a shareholder in Sinopharm, which means they are the same company. Sinopharm is owned by China…a Chinese state-owned enterprise. So, to me, this just answers the question, ‘How could this be?’ And it goes along with Hunter Biden’s laptop and these revelations, that the White House is hostage to our existential adversary and these injections are being manufactured and distributed – the COVID pills, the PCR tests – by a CCP-owned subsidiary, aligned with Pfizer as a front brand, essentially and that explains the harms we’re seeing, in my view.”

I visited the Fosun Pharma U.S. website and could find nothing there that says they are producing the mRNA jabs in the U.S.

Maybe someone here who has done a deep dive on this can provide us a little more to chew on than what Naomi Wolf is saying (with links)?

I visited the Fosun Pharma U.S. website and could find nothing there that says they are producing the mRNA jabs in the U.S.

Maybe someone here who has done a deep dive on this can provide us a little more to chew on than what Naomi Wolf is saying (with links)?
