    Question Finding spiritual truth?

I've spent many years in an empiricist mindset. That we are creatures of matter and matter alone.

I no longer believe that. I think there's more, a spiritual life. I just find it very difficult to access. Perhaps because I've denied it for so long, perhaps because of life events, or adverse changes in the environment etc.

I do have memories of when I think there may have been some spiritual intervention, perhaps a connection to a higher power? It was many years ago alas.

Now, in middle age, I'm trying to redress this spiritual void. I've read some Bible verses and watched some videos giving the Christian perspective I was raised with. I've seen lots of 'new age' blogs and videos where a different perspective is shared, reincarnation, the archon/demiurge or perhaps parasitical aliens that have trapped humanity within a matrix.

I don't have good mechanisms for determining truth in this environment. My previous approach gave me a framework but I think it was based on flawed assumptions. So I'd like to ask, those of you who have 'done the work' on the spiritual side for their suggestions. How do you find truth? How do you grow your personal connection to the spiritual? How do you discern good from bad, truth from deception?

The perspective of the world changes according to our current state of mind, our readings, our cultural base. There are many egregores and we feed that one in affinities with our vibrations of thoughts. These changes are natural in human life, not to change your position would be abnormal. I have experienced these changes, but I don't ask myself these questions, it's like throwing away those old habits and wearing new ones. You cannot have a whole life with the same state of mind, it is against the law of evolution and it is naturally healthy to let go and reformulate these opinions. Looking ahead and never looking back should become our leitmotif. Yes our memories catch up with us, is it to better appreciate what we have become?

Hi Journeyman, I can't claim any particular qualification to answer this, just my opinion from my limited understanding...

The answer to the 3 questions you posted above is, imo, the same to all 3. You need to look inside.

We all (?) have inside a Divine Spark, a tiny piece of the infinite One, of which we are all a part and it a part of us.

If you search inside you WILL find and awaken this spark of Spirit. It tries to communicate with us but is usually drowned out by all the 'noise' in our lives. It is that quiet, still voice that you may have heard whisper to you before.

Ask Spirit to awaken your spark, maybe try to meditate, read something Spiritual you feel drawn to, if you really want it and allow it and become attentive to it your Spirit will guide you. You need to listen for the still small voice inside and allow it to grow in importance within you until it becomes you and you fully become it.

There is a little bit of a 'chicken and egg' scenario here, you have to start with the acceptance that you are Spirit, that is the essential leap of faith it takes to start you on the road to awakening that Spirit within, it sounds like you are already at that point as you are asking these questions. The questions you are asking come from within you, that is communication from your Higher Self (your Spirit) already in action. Locate that voice...listen to it.

If you can do this (and you can) it will show you the truth, it will increase your connection to Spirit and it will provide all the discernment you need.

I wish you well on your journey, you are the Journeyman after all, it is time to get moving!!

Edited to say please do not look to religion or to anyone else for the truth. The truth cannot be contained in a book or a system, the truth is a living thing that is within us all, it has to be discovered and lived. Books, systems etc can only provide pointers like a compass that shows us the direction we want to go in....the compass is not the destination.

What a great answer. Thank you for this.

I am, as is probably apparent, all over the shop at the moment, taking in a lot of info from a lot of sources that frequently contradict each other. What I've not done is to meditate, but I have a book on that with some passages which I'll hunt out and try and make that part of the day.

    I totally agree with Pueblo.
It starts with 'remembering', find the connection with the source inside you and slowly expand it (in you and outside of you).
Usually, the truth lies in the center, in the middle path (golden mean/heart chakra), is about balance and evolution.
It's not easy to access and obtain this frequency but the most important is the first step, your intention and will.
Is like a muscle will grow over time...
Now I'm in a position that whatever boggles my mind, maybe later (it depends if my question needs an answer), I will find the solution in some synchronicities.
My ultimate truth in this reality, my basic intention, is humanity to unite and bring the earth back to 5D and I would not rest until we manage it.
If we understand how our body works (cellular level)(even in this limited realm of 3D) then we will know how our system as a society must work...and everything after that will come naturally.

That framework you reference will have elements of truth within it so I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater, as tempting as it may seem, rather grow it into a different understanding by using it as an experience you have substantial questions about rather than doubts. That will set you on a very personal journey which is unique to you and will contain its own truths that will be pertinent or even poignant. By asking those very questions I would say it's already started and there may be much on the forum that will present itself to you and in other ways as well.

For me it was a realisation followed by a knowing that all of us have more than this one life, so reincarnation or the idea of past lives, was both central and fundamental to my own understanding initially.

Meditation or contemplation helps to align oneself with higher energies.

Hi Journeyman, Ive found Jordan Peterson immensely helpful in these areas. To me, he's able to meld the practical and the spiritual in a way I've never seen before, and explain why the practical is actually spiritual and why the spiritual can actually be practical. He gives pretty clear instuctions on how to live one's life, all based on his clinical experience and his deep understanding of people like Jung, Dostoyevsky, Solzhenitsyn, Freud, and many many others. Oh, and his understanding of various spiritual texts of course.

His book, "12 Rules For Life" is a great place to start. It's a little long and windy, but the suggestions are straightforward and crystal clear. There's no woo woo or vaguery involved, no astral traveling, no archons, no demiurge and no parasitical aliens. That sh!t is all fun to read about, but offers absolutely zero utility. I think most people get lost in that stuff as a form of escapism. If engaging life is the goal, and not escaping, building a solid foundation is a good start in my view. I would start with Peterson.

Meditation in the style of Joel S Goldsmith (apparently more in tune with Christian mystic meditation rather than the secular meditation of Buddhism). I recommend a copy of his book The Art of Meditation.

Hi Journeyman. I appreciate your post - thank you.

My own sanity restorer and 'safety net' is the way of the East - the early ancient wisdom. The Vedas, Yoga Philosophy, Taosim etc. Three practices where you don't only sit and read challenging concepts, but you can actually physically engage and experience much of what is being taught so you can see for yourself. The physical practices and their experiences, validate much of what is written I feel. Also, I'm crap at meditation I need something where I can keep awake and focus away from the inner chatter! Physical movement helps and is still meditative in its practice.

The turning point for me - the springboard if you like, was when I finally realized everything is energy. Once I began understanding that concept through reading but also practices such as Yoga and Tai Chi, Qigong etc and how these practices move and clear energy - especially years old stagnant energy from a lifetime of habits both physical and mental etc, I knew I had a tried-and tested way forward - especially in today's times of the outer world and all its lies, manipulation and confusion - all designed, I'm sure, to deliberately drain our Life Force - our inner Divinity and to keep us dis-connected!

Once I began to understand energy, I understood the Life Force (chi/Qi) and once I started learning this, I began to see very clearly a beautiful intelligence - call it Divine if you like, in so much around us and within.

For example I enjoy cooking and I've discovered its a direct way into engaging in a form of spiritual practice. Each time I cut a vegetable or fruit, I see the often beautiful geometric patterns and colours contained within and how each fruit and vegetable contains a blueprint, a 'magic code' of intelligence and function which helps to take care of us - they all have their roles in healing us. Also, the act/art of cooking is also a gift we share not just to ourselves but others - we are participating in nourishing and healing them - food is also medicine which I still find amazing! Also, the act of grinding spices smells like an elixir! It can change my mood instantly. I know I probably sound unconventional talking about food and cooking being a way for one to connect with the Divine - or something bigger and loving and caring than us, but it helps me - especially when I'm feeling a little lazy and don't fancy reading lol!

It can be daunting all the books. It can be off putting what we see from 'organized' religion. It can be nauseating wading through all the New Age Instagram 'Influencers' on Youtube! But it was something simple and magical - seeing stunning re-occuring patterns in the natural world, learning about the incredible intelligent contributions to our lives they provide us and having direct contact with my own energy has been the way for me to understand the Divine, Source, God - whichever name you wish to use.

Lots of love to you Journeyman

I suspect spiritual truth finds you.
    It knocks on your door.
You are drawn to it by?
Its energetic and so are you --there is an undeniable attraction.

The same information can be shown to 100s of people and only a small % will be drawn to investigate deeper.
Truth is its not down to the "me"
Restricted consciousness evolves to discover it true nature.
    You are already That.
Paths can lead one round in circles.
Be still and know -- thats it.
Not to be found in books --or from sages -- they can only point to Truth within Self.
    Helpful up to a point
Revealed, not by adding but subtracting --Neity Neity

    Chris
Be kind to all life, including your own, no matter what!!

As someone who is a natural born truth-seeker I have to say that this is true, pun intended. It is a divine attraction, the love for the Beloved and there's hardly any other way to explain it, what you focus on becomes your reality. I always wanted to know the Truth and know why we exist or if life was without meaning (I never fully believed that) and then guidance came my way slowly over the years.

Sure my mind has acted as a means to find out the truth, but I'd say that mostly the guidance has been coming from above, perhaps from my higher Self to which I've always had a strong connection. I always had one foot in this world and one in the other so I don't always even know how fully human I am. The connection only got stronger after my awakening(s) when my third eye was more opened and information was able to penetrate my consciousness as some sort of energetic downloads. My human mind is still quite fallible, but when I am in connection with intuition and the higher self I will know the truth.

God doesn't speak directly to us, God speaks through messages that only those with the sensitivity to hear it will hear if they carefully listen, the answers appear as subtle things like dreams or synchronicities etc. When you hear and observe the sounds of nature, that's God communating to you and it's also you, you were never apart from nature or God. How could you be? "The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of understanding."

I think things like meditation, mindfulness and certain other shamanic practices will help oneself to cultivate the connection to higher states of being. The human mind with the brain was never even designed to fully know everything as our physical brain and body can't possibly sustain such amount of energy and wisdom as in higher dimensions, but here we can at least get the glimpse of the truth if we sincerely seek for it. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

    This is perennial truth.

Quote "A man has many skins in himself, covering the depths of his heart. Man knows so many things; he does not know himself.

Why, thirty or forty skins or hides, just like an ox's or a bear's, so thick and hard, cover the soul.

Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there."

    - Eckhart

The idea is that we have been given this life we have as a gift. IMO the task for me is to bring more of Source into my body. If the biological organism is a construct, it operates under patterns and also patterns are under all form.

I feel that a new earth of living with extreme Source contact will change our very forms through the patterns initiated by CONTACT with a sentient, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent force which is also personal IN US. I feel certain that a new octave is borning and all we need to do to become "our true selves" i turning within. My body is allowing/requesting to hold more energy. This is a process that is suggested as a technology.

The inner technology to become more WITH "God" is plugging IN by focus. But there are real principles involved. Energy flows and we are flowers. We direct energy to create "our world". IMO we have all been in poverty through resisting the flow. We initiate the RE connection and the interpenetration of ALL into our cells is facilitated. I think the time has come when we can easily bring the heaven we love to dream. It is bodily possible.

I always questioning why I need transcendence when I still have never explored all there is to this "me". Incendance is an ideal I made up to stand for what I want for my experience. I want to operate from the inside out, clear away what is no longer of value and have a joy filled day. So incendance is what I am doing using my imagination to create in my inner realm what I love to perceive. "In-" implies movement in, "Cen-implies fire and burning dross, "Dance-" is feeling movement and expressing the inner world as form. Incendance is my very own inspiriting fire and the dance of patterns cast by an INNER LIGHT which is seeking an outlet through "me".

The time to take hold of our inner technology is now. I am personally experiencing the happiest days I have ever recalled. I clear the blocks of energy as I feel "whatever". I use my imagination. I proclaim that I AM with us all on the most exciting adventure, full of joy as we choose to UP the amperage. All it takes is our ALLOWING to be the body of light.

I remember reading that Rajneesh, the Oregon guru now called Osho, had his followers meditate for hours on the question, "Who am I?' Some had very positive experiences and some had mental breakdowns. But still, it seems to be the question you're asking.

    Lightbulb Re: Finding spiritual truth?

Who is doing the observing of yourself ... I call it the neutral observer beyond duality thinking beyond "mental constructs" ... this "observer awareness" free from all fears is within all of us but we seem to disconnect from it the moment we project labels & mental constructs ... Language is one of them.

We can observe, be aware and NOT using any labels nor need for language ... Many assume it is "not important" to connect to that which is within. . When we get rid of all noise all distractions in our mind ... quiet our minds ... you still are 100% aware ... effortless ... The moment you assume it is (or must be) an "effort" you lost the plot

As many others already stated: "The only way out is ... in".
