Default Heads up for UK Chicken/Bird keepers - Bird Flu - must be indoors from Dec 17

The legal requirement is to come into force as part of a crackdown to limit the spread of the "highly infectious" disease.

From 14 December, all bird keepers will be required by law to keep their flock indoors or netted as a precaution against avian flu, as well as taking biosecurity measures.

The rules would include hens kept as pets in gardens.

My hens are back yard hens, I'm keeping them only on the yard atm were it's been easier to scrub down and restricted them from the garden and bushes were all the blackbirds and magpies like to congregate.
Bird flu has been around a month or so so far and I'm being vigilant.
My hens are unvaccinated, the way nature intended and asking keepers to be on the look out for sick birds and upping hygiene is one thing but this is the first I've heard of them making law to put them in to "Lockdown" !
Keeping birds enclosed 24/7 in the damp of winter is just going to cause respiratory problems.

    Wtf is going on !

I've no idea how a free range flock can be kept in doors.
    Netting isn't the answer either.

I have to laugh on this one, I would never take this seriously and I would gladly ignore this stupid law if ever comes around where I am living. What next, wild bulls, elephants, snakes??

It's now 2022 and according to the government we have another convenient "epidemic" of bird flu in the UK.... Since December 2021 your back yard chickens should be quarantined under appropriate cover to "protect them" also listed on the government website you should STOP feeding the wild birds in your garden as well as this will only exacerbate the chances of your own chickens getting the "flu".... (conveniently adding to the fact that wild birds are already in decline due to the lack of natural resources they would normally feed from due to Government mandates and that they depend on folk feeding them to survive the winter)

I extensively searched last year when they did this to us again and apart from the governments OWN website giving out the symptoms to look for, I could find NO postings from anyone showing what these symptoms actually look like, no pictures, nothing...

This smacks of the old fable "The Emperors New Clothes" ... Just like covid...

I can understand intensively farmed chickens packed so close together, constantly fed antibiotics (for their own health) will eventually become sick.... That makes sense...

Under the "New World Order" the want the upcoming generations to become scared of getting dirty in the soil, "it's bad for" , "you don't know what you might catch"

It's utter obserd nonsense ... All so they they can get you to eat their synthetically made substitute ...

    It's all about FEAR...

I've seen letters send out to folk within a 30mile radius of such an outbreak expressing how important it is to ring this number immediately to talk to government representative who will assure you of the correct procedures to follow. Utter B***ucks...

What they are really saying is let us know if you have have your own backyard chickens and we will conveniently come and look at them, tell you they have bird flu (while we are dressed in our FULL hazmat suits, to show you how seriously we take this threat ) and gas them for you free of charge so you can no longer enjoy the taste of your own organic free range eggs, that are packed so full of nutrients it must be a hazard to your health...
