'Today (Sunday), explosive data from offshore corporations known as the “Pandora Papers” is expected to make headlines around the world. The news has already caused a tsunami in Pakistan’s thieving corridors.
The stolen paper will reveal the financial secrets of high-profile persons around the world, including current and previous world leaders, public figures, billionaires, and others. According to sources, the Pandora Papers are a continuation of what was previously revealed in the Panama Papers and Paradise Papers.
The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), a non-profit newsroom and journalist network based in Washington, DC, has received more than 11.9 million documents containing 2.94 terabytes of confidential information from service providers who helped set up and manage offshore companies and trusts in tax havens around the world.
The ICIJ shared the information with 150 media outlets, making it the largest partnership in journalism history. The ICIJ took almost two years to organise this investigation, which involved over 600 journalists from 117 countries, making it the largest journalism collaboration ever.
The research into the Panama Papers involved around 400 journalists from 80 countries This leak has revealed the finances of more leaders and public figures than the Panama Papers did, as well as providing more than twice the amount of information about offshore company ownership. The Panama Papers were based on documents from the Mossack Fonseca law company in Panama, which disclosed the offshore holdings of 140 politicians, public officials, and sports figures.
The German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung received the data, which included details stretching back 40 years.
The Pandora Papers are larger in size and contain more revelations concerning politicians and public authorities than previously made public. The Panama Papers revealed the identities of around 400 people from Pakistan. According to sources, the number of Pakistanis in the Pandora Papers is far higher. There would be a lot of interesting names in the news.
