EDIT: There is a TON of time travel short films on Youtube, I saw one a while back that had the same thinking and elements as Primer does, but shortened into a humourous and smart 15-20 short ... I can't for 10 minutes of searching now find it though ...

EDIT2: On the sheer comedic side: Hottub Time Machine

My favourite genre, book and film.

I guess it's a bit corny I suppose, certainly shaky with its pseudoscience and not at all accurate with its predictions, but Back to Future still sits among my all time faves.

    Add to the list these:

    Planet of the Apes (1968)
    The Final Countdown (1980)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
    Flight of the Navigator (1986)
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
    Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1990)
    Groundhog Day (1994)
    Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
    Source Code (2011)
    Predestination (2014)
    Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

And I highly recommend a small indie film from a couple of years ago called Time Trap:

I really would recommend Primer. (See this thread: PRIMER (2004): the best (and most complex) time travel movie ever made.)

Other time travel movies are more fun, for sure. This isn't a popcorn movie. One needs a very strong pot of coffee and a clipboard to take detailed notes.

Primer is like a Mensa IQ test simply to understand what the heck is happening. One very smart fan made a 20 minute YouTube video as an explainer for the highly complicated plot. Then one of the YT comments asked for someone to please make an explainer for the explainer.

One of the most astonishing things about Primer is that the person who made it, Shane Carruth, who is a math major, created the entire thing for just $10,000. He wrote the screenplay, directed it, produced it, co-starred in it, edited it and even wrote the musical score. His parents provided the catering!

Despite the crazy-low budget, it was most professionally done and was universally well received, earning quite a cult following. Here's what Chuck Klosterman wrote in an essay on time travel films five years later:
"Primer is the finest movie about time travel I've ever seen [...] I've watched it seven or eight times and I still don't know what happened."

I watched a few minutes of this "Primer" movie, one evening, in a year when my eyelids were getting very heavy, and I didn't understand anything, then I forgot about the movie, but I think I still have it on my hard drive.

Anyway, I followed the illustrated explanation and it seems more than a concept, something quite mathematical abstract in which we have to take into account all the events in several aspects, even those not shown in the sequences of the film.
It seems to be a kind of key, in a rather individual discovery, it seems cool to me, but I have to see the full movie for the first time ... definitely several times. I think I'll watch the movie in tandem with the "sketch of events".

    PRIMER (2004) - ILLUSTRATED EXPLANATION (23:19)

    Among others, i like also:
    -The Philadelphia Experiment (1984);
    -Source Code (2011).
And all this to be just human.

Somewhere in Time Official Trailer #1 - Christopher Reeve Movie (1980) HD

This was filmed on mackinac island which sits between the upper and lower michigan straits, the setting was the grand hotel, I had the opportunity to stay in this hotel 2 years ago, it was awsum . There are no cars on this island only pedal bikes and horse carriages. When taking the 20 minute ferry to the island you can see 40 feet in the water it is so clear. One of the gems of the united states.

Sure thing. Downloadable for a week, here's Primer — and also Somewhere in Time, which is a very sweet and romantic 1980 Christopher Reeve time travel movie that I really enjoyed. (And which, unlike Primer, is easy to follow! )
