    • James Webb Telescope Discovers Carbon Dioxide On Distant Planet:

NASA's James Webb Telescope has discovered carbon dioxide for the first time on the distant planet 'WASP-39b'. Astronomers made the discovery using a method that observes the chemical makeup of exoplanets. The discovery revealed the unprecedented capabilities of the James Webb Telescope, meaning similar discoveries are almost inevitable in future.

The star WR 140 is located in the Cygnus constellation. They're still trying to explain the concentric rings around it. Wikipedia explains them as dust that the star superheats.

    space.com
Quote The James Webb Space Telescope captured mysterious concentric rings around a distant star that astronomers are still working to explain.

The image, taken in July, was released on Twitter by citizen scientist Judy Schmidt, prompting a torrent of comments and head-scratching. It shows a star known as WR140 surrounded by regular ripple-like circles that gradually fade away. The circles, however, are not perfectly round, but have a somewhat square-like feel to them, prompting speculations about possible alien origins.

"I think it's just nature doing something that is simple, but when we look at it from only one viewpoint it seems impossible, at first, to understand that it is a natural phenomenon," Schmidt told Space.com in an email. "Why is it shaped the way it is? Why is it so regular?"

Mark McCaughrean, an interdisciplinary scientist in the James Webb Space Telescope Science Working Group and a science advisor to the European Space Agency, called the feature "bonkers" in a Twitter thread.

"The six-pointed blue structure is an artifact due to optical diffraction from the bright star WR140 in this #JWST MIRI image," he wrote. "But red curvy-yet-boxy stuff is real, a series of shells around WR140. Actually in space. Around a star."

He noted that WR140 is what astronomers call a Wolf-Rayet star, which have spat much of their hydrogen into space. These objects are also surrounded by dust, he added, which a companion star is sculpting into the strange shells.

Astronomers will know more soon thanks to a scientific paper currently under review about this mysterious phenomenon.

"Yes, those nested 'squircular' rings are real," Ryan Lau, an astronomer at NOIRLab and principal investigator of the project that acquired the observations, replied to the Twitter thread. "Our paper on this has been submitted so please stay tuned for the full story."

WR140, located some 5,600 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Cygnus, is a so-called variable star that periodically dims and brightens. Whether the star's variability has anything to do with the mysterious ripples remains to be seen.

The image, however, demonstrates the power of the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful observatory ever sent to space, which has been hailed for its revolutionary infrared vision and superkeen eye.

    • James Webb Telescope FINALLY Proves The Big Bang Theory Is Wrong!:

The James Webb Space Telescope was eagerly awaited before its launch last year! However, now that the most powerful and most expensive ever telescope is in operation, the JWST is threatening to turn astronomy upside down with a single finding! The latest pictures from the JWST have proven the Big Bang theory did not happen, sending the scientific community into a frenzy! What are these latest pictures from JWST? How do the pictures prove the Big Bang theory was wrong? Join us as we dive into how the James Webb Space Telescope finally proved the Big Bang theory is wrong! How expensive can a telescope get?

The James Webb Space Telescope set a new record in that regard! In terms of work hours, the telescope guzzled millions of hours, with development stretching over decades! In terms of money, no other telescope comes near, at 10 billion dollars! The JWST was also an engineering nightmare as it involved designing it to fit the launch rocket! No rocket was large enough to contain it, so the engineers had to design it to fold in multiple places! The large heat shield folded and had to be unfurled as it journeyed to its permanent location.

Am on-board with the ridicule. Everything about that theory is ridiculous. Apparently the old saying is true, “Bull**it baffles brains”.

Most funny is how they (Big Science) are OK with the location of the bang being anywhere, and everywhere, at the furthest we can see in any direction.

I wonder what this telescope will reveal about other cosmological theories, like Black Holes, Dark Matter, and Gravity-dominance in structure. Pretty sure Dark Energy has been taken care of by this recent drop.

I predict that this amazing telescope will go offline soon. Happy to be wrong.

    • James Webb Telescope Just Detected A Massive Structure On Jupiter:

Scientists around the world had high hopes from the massive and most innovative space telescope that cost them an arm and a leg to build. People were extremely excited to see what this state of the art telescope sends our way and it sure did not disappoint. When the first images from the James Webb Telescope became public, the entire world looked at them in awe and disbelief. These images provided us with an extraordinarily high resolution and distant view of the universe. From merging galaxies millions of light years away to planets outside of our own Milky Way, every single detail in these images fascinated the masses world wide. Even the scientists were baffled by the new and puzzling information the first batch of data from James Webb Space Telescope revealed. Some of it even caused an uproar amongst the critics of the Big Bang theory who believed that this data and these images refuted the concept of Big Bang and the ever expanding universe. In less than a year, this miraculous telescope has provided us with an immense amount of information about our universe that has entirely changed the way we look at it. It's only logical that a telescope capable of visualizing galaxies billions of years away from us and the light from when the universe came into existence wouldn't face any problem in providing us with incredibly detailed images of our own solar system. And James Webb has once again proven its superiority by sending out some mind-boggling images of the largest planet in our solar system.

In this new series of LPPFusion videos, “JWST and the Big Bang Never Happened Debate”, LPPFusion Chief Scientist Eric J. Lerner replies to critics of his IAI article, including Dr. Brian Keating, Dr. Becky, Anton Petrov, Ethan Siegel, Sabine Hossenfelder and others. This video, Part 2: the Scientific Method and the Method of Big Bang Cosmology, contrasts the Ptolemaic methods that have led to the Big Bang with the real scientific methods that lead to the rejection of the Big Bang hypothesis.

    • How James Webb Broke Cosmology In Just 2 Months:

The James Webb Space Telescope is an infrared observatory that can peer at those regions of the cosmos that even Hubble could not. Webb's long-awaited first year of science observations, known as cycle 1, began by mid-2022. Two of its Cycle 1 programs spent dozens of hours looking for distant galaxies in the early Universe by staring at separate small portions of the sky. Astronomers did not expect anything remarkable. They thought they would get a refined version of the Hubble Deep Field from these two short-period Cycle 1 programs. Instead, to their surprise, such galaxies sprung into view immediately. Astronomers began spotting galaxies that must have existed in the first 200 million years of the big bang. The researchers were excited because Webb suddenly opened the windows to the last significant unexplored era in the history of the Universe. However, those galaxies were not like what we had expected. Instead, they were exceptionally bright with a stellar mass of billions of solar masses. Such giant evolved galaxies defy the expectations set by our standard model of the Universe's evolution. So, where did we go wrong in our models? How can we explain the new extragalactic observations made by the James Webb Space Telescope? Finally, and most importantly, do these observations mean the Big Bang theory is wrong?

For years on end, the concentration has been to unravel the secrets of the mysterious exoplanets that are scattered across our galaxy, the Milky Way, presumably hundreds of billions in number. It isn’t like we haven’t found cosmic entities beyond our solar system, we’ve been able to do that numerous times with great precision, but for the first time we’ve picked up direct images of a planet, with impeccable accuracy, that’s not from our neighborhood. What have we really found? Is this planet any different from what we thought previously? Or is it even more of a mystery?

This is a professionally done video by Nova PBS. It covers the launch and stress of properly deploying the different parts of the telescope.

Personally, I feel ten billion was too much to spend considering it has already been damaged. There's no way to get to it a million miles away to do any repairs. With the ability to cancel-out atmospheric distortion I would have built several ground-based telescopes like the Extremely Large Telescope & the Large Binocular Telescope. The telescope SOFIA on the plane is a novel idea.

    07/13/22 (53:35)

Quote How did NASA engineers build and launch the most ambitious telescope of all time? Follow the dramatic story of the James Webb Space Telescope—the most complex machine ever launched into space. If it works, scientists believe that this new eye on the universe will peer deeper back in time and space than ever before to the birth of galaxies, and may even be able to “sniff” the atmospheres of exoplanets as we search for signs of life beyond Earth. But getting it to work is no easy task. The telescope is far bigger than its predecessor, the famous Hubble Space Telescope, and it needs to make its observations a million miles away from Earth—so there will be no chance to go out and fix it. That means there’s no room for error; the most ambitious telescope ever built needs to work perfectly. Meet the engineers making it happen and join them on their high stakes journey to uncover new secrets of the universe.
