    Post The mysterious Pedra da Gávea

    Hello dear friends! This is my first thread here at Project Avalon.
    Note that the text is from two portuguese sources.
    I tried not to put the full text and translated the best I could with some help from the translator. Sorry for any mistake in english.
    Hope it will be interesting for all of you. enjoy!

    Pedra da Gávea is a mysterious and fantastic place that is close to my home in Rio de Janeiro, which I already visited and went to the top.

    One of the most popular tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro, Pedra da Gávea is the largest stone block by the sea in the world. An incredible view, 847 meters high.

    What most do not know is that the place is also the scene of several legends and mysteries. Named in 1502, Pedra da Gávea was the first mountain in Rio to be baptized
    with a name in Portuguese.

    High on a coastal mountain, this sculpture reminds us of a face. In addition to this peculiarity, the rock also has mysterious inscriptions that according to historians would have been impossible to have made by nature, these inscriptions also gives evidence of an extinct language.

    There is a version or hypothesis that has gained breath to explain the recordings at Pedra da Gávea. In fact, these are studies done seriously by Bernardo A. Silva Ramos, an archaeologist and professor of scientific skill.
    He was the first to see a code that made sense engraved on Pedra da Gávea, and thus to do a translation and decoding of the supposed inscriptions on the rock.

    In 1928, the teacher for many solved the mystery, by being able to decode the meaning of the writings in the Pedra da Gávea published in his book “Inscriptions and Traditions of Prehistoric America”, a book that
    presented the reproduction of countless inscriptions found by him as well as by other archaeologists in Brazil. In his book he reports several inscriptions found in various parts of the country containing
    characters from the Phoenicians, Arabs, Greeks and even the Chinese alphabet.

    He reached the following conclusion after a complicated work that involved the identification of the letters one by one, a translation into Hebrew,
    a transliteration into Portuguese (representation of the characters of the other language by characters corresponding to the language Portuguese) and translation into Portuguese.

    The inscription, found on the “head” of Pedra da Gávea written in archaic Phoenician, whose translation reads from right to left says: “Tyro Phenicia Badezir Firstborn of Jethbaal”

    In 1963 Bernardo A. Silva Ramos translated the inscriptions as:
    “LAABHTEJ BAR RIZDAB NAISINEOF RUZT”. Read from right to left (just like in Arabic and current Hebrew it reads from right to left).
    Which translated means: Tyro Phenicia Badezir Firstborn of Jethbaal. JETH-BAAL OR YET-BAAL, is a name that refers to two “twin” brothers, older children of BADEZIR.

    According to historians, there was a Phoenician King in 856 BC, named Badezir, who according to the first translation replaced King Jethbal, his father, on the royal throne of Tyro.

    But according to the second translation, it was Badezir the father of the Jeth brothers -Baal. If this hypothesis were confirmed with archaeological evidence, it could be believed
    that the Phoenicians were in Rio about 800 years before Christ, and that Pedra da Gávea would be a tomb where Badezir or Jeth-Baal would be buried, and the human features
    molded on the stone would be the face of Badezir or Jeth-Baal.

    Among the theories that originated in the rocky forms of Pedra da Gávea, one of them is about the existence of a Great Agartha Portal. It would be a portal that leads to a dimension unknown to many, based on the hypothesis of a hollow planet Earth.

    Although there is no solid evidence that the rock is in fact an ancient sacred landmark of some kind, or an archaeological monument, there are many parts of it that deserve further study.
    If it was once the tomb of Badezir or the entrance to Agharta, today it is just another place for Eco-tourists, and a place still not as well explored.
    There will always be someone to ask: (ANCIENT ALIENS TIME )

    - Who would be the authors of such a great monument?
    - Why did they build it?
    - Are they the same people who sculpted the Nazca Lines in Peru?
    - Were the builders the Phoenicians?
    - If so, how did they manage to cross the seas and the Atlantic Ocean to get here three thousand years ago in our past?

    Other factors that led to many stories about the rock

    - The appearance of the large head with the two eye, the ears and the location of a nose;
    - The huge stones on the top of the head that resemble a kind of crown or adornment;
    - A huge cavity in the form of a portal in the north-east part of the head that is 15 meters high, 7 meters wide and 2 meters deep;
    - An observatory in the Southeast part like a dolmen, containing some engravings
    - A high point like a small pyramid made of a single block of stone on top of the head;
    - The famous and controversial inscriptions on the side of the rock;
    - Some other small inscriptions resemble snakes, sun rays and etc., located across the top of the mountain;
    - The location of a supposed nose, which would have fallen a long time ago.

    I really enjoyed this post. I'd not heard of Pedra da Gávea, the connection to the Phoenicians is fascinating.

    Thank you dear friend! You have no idea how big this mountain is, it looks like a gigantic monster! Take a look at google images.

    A couple of points:

    1). Relics of the Phoenicians have been found in the western hemisphere. Some supposedly found in a cave of the Grand Canyon. I believe when salvagers were trying to recover some of the wreckage from a Canadian ship called the Bluenose in the Carribean they found artifacts of other wrecks, including phonecian.

    2). My guess is this place was used by a much older civilization than the phonecians. The portal would be evidence of that.

    3). Where is this mountain in relation to the Christ the Redeemer monument?

    Hi friend, well added!

    The distance between them by road is 15 to 20 km, they are very close to each other. If you are interested to see it via google earth the coordinates of Pedra da Gávea are 22°59'49"S 43°17'04"W

    Thanks for sharing it , I didn't know the mysteries of this rock, I've been there many years ago, stayed in San Corando beach, very close to this rock, visible from the pousada, it is really monumental in size and beauty. The portal is amazing, at first glance it looks like a frozen water fall.

    Hi palehorse! Thanks
    The beach of san conrado is very beautiful but very badly treated, its main feature is the landing area for paragliding and hang gliding. I saw in other post that you speak and write in Portuguese, whenever you want to train I am available

    I take this opportunity to show it is possible to climb up into the eye of Pedra da Gávea. Look at this amazing photo.

    Thank you Marbelo appreciate that, I am Portuguese speaker from Portugal, despite I left Lisbon long time ago Portuguese still my heart idiom.

    This is quite a photo, such a beautiful view, it really looks like an eye, was that too hard to climb up there?
    I climbed up a hill of 770 meters here in Thailand and I almost had a heart attack, it was my first climb ever using equipment and with an local expert tour guide, I am used to hiking long distances, also run, and from time to time I visit some caves, but climbing is another ball game, I appreciate those who does, it requires lots of training and preparation not only physical but mental.

    Thanks for sharing this photo.

    Getting to the top takes more than 2 hours of walking, getting to the eye requires technical climbing because you get there from the side of the head.
    I just went to the top. The one inside the eye is not me
    Some friends have already been there. I'm more like mountaineering than climbing.
    My mother is from portugal and i have many family members there. Portugal is a fantastic place!

    My mother is from portugal and i have many family members there. Portugal is a fantastic place!
    seems to be quite a challenge to get inside that eye, but the reward is the best!

    We share a similar story, I have relatives in Brazil, they are mostly in the south, they moved over there during the second war, many of the elders already passed away, but the cousins still living there and some returned to Portugal, my parents lived in both places when I was a baby, we also lived in Spain for some time and then return to Portugal, I was on the road from place to place during many years, then I decided to settle down with my own family in Thailand and here I am.
