Default Plato, Newton, Leonardo, Rembrandt... who are they now?

This is a fun speculation thread. Here's the question:

Take any of the great figures of history. In any area at all: philosophy, art, politics, literature, spirituality, science, exploration.

    Who might they be now?

Probably Elon Musk as a modern industrialist such as Henry Ford?
    Politics would certainly be Trump.
    Jordan Peterson,Noam Chomsky, George Lucas.
I am going for the low hanging fruit here ))

Hej Bill, as i learned from Carol Clarke not everyone is a well known Person in every Incarnation, so maybe Rembrandt is just a great Graffiti writer somewhere in the Bronx (Dali for sure would fit better).

But im sure we have many well known Historic People here at PA

If there is no thyme or reason involved in the universe's scheme of it all, if there is a karma in effect, and they did good for humanity, it is not evident in our time, as far as I can decipher.

Probably nothing like they used to be. Just heard about a guy who Edgar Cayce told had been Alexander the Great and Thomas Jefferson. Pretty big disparity there. His parents were told he should receive a good education and he could change history. But they were drunks and he ended up drifting around from odd job to odd job. Now he's in his 80s and living on a mountain as a hermit.

Leonardo da Vinci is now a Baker(Mash Kyoto) in Kyoto Japan.

Columbus now has a chicken farm in Cuba.

Abraham Lincoln is now a factory worker in India.

Vladimir Kolarov is now a safety inspector for Eagle eye nuclear assistance in Louisa Virginia.

Napoleon is now a Russian farmer in Novgorod Oblast.

Manfred von Richthofen is now a French Chef in Limoges.

Ford is now a Police officer in Jerusalem.

    Last but not least.

Rembrandt refused to come back as someone else and is now haunting the work of Jan Lievens.

I had fun with this one, thx. :-)

I don't know who the others are now,but for sure I know who Vlad the Impaler is:

"This is an excerpt of a Spiritual Journey of Forgiveness ™ hypnosis session in which this client experiences a past life as Vlad the Impaler. With the understanding that we incarnate on Earth for contrast, expansion and for our soul’s evolution, love and forgiveness are used in these sessions to understand things from a spiritual perspective and to connect with our hearts. I'm wondering about the question. Do you mean, who are today's living equivalents of for example, Boudica, Bede, Brahms (don't know why I chose all B's), or do you mean, if such historical figures reincarnated, who might they be today?

The latter. Assuming reincarnation, and considering well-known historical figures from the past, who might they be now?

If we accept reincarnation as a probability then the law of karma goes along with that and therefore a General Custer, for example, might return as a second class Indian citizen on an reservation in 1950 say. Yet I cannot imagine a Mozart returning as anything other than a musical prodigy because it’s the most reasonable explanation for musical prodigies in the first place. Artistic genius, it seems to me, must be refined over many incarnations. The burning passion and ability some have for the arts, like they come in fully equipped and just ‘knowing’, surely is not a random genetic peculiarity. Similarly, spiritual adepts. Can’t imagine a Ghandi or Buddha returning as a moron or murderer, if the evolution of consciousness is what it’s all about.

Prince Phillip once said he’d like to come back as a virus. Hope that works out for him, preferably a not very successful one and I can think of a number of politicians that ought to be in line to be the next ones with a begging bowl, one holds the faith in some kind of divine justice, because there isn’t too much of it down here.

There’s those wonderful synchronicities in the Kennedy/Lincoln stories exactly 100 years apart, rather too many coincidences to quickly dismiss methinks, and would suggest soul group reincarnating in a similar milieu, maybe changing the parts they play...here they are for those that haven’t come across them.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both were shot in the head.

Lincoln’s secretary, Kennedy, warned him not to go to the theatre.
Kennedy’s secretary, Lincoln, warned him not to go to Dallas.

    Both were assassinated by Southerners.

    Both were succeeded by Southerners.

    Both successors were named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are comprised of fifteen letters.

Booth ran from the theater and was caught in a warehouse.
Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

But I guess, as I sometimes despair in these dark lockdown days, it could all be a mean joke played on us by the lizards and Mozart could now be cleaning toilets at Asda and getting beaten up by her thug of a husband thrice weekly.

If they have reincarnated again then I assume that they would probably lead interesting in their own right, but maybe not so publicly well known lives. Or perhaps some of them might be a bit more known if it was part of their life path this time around too, but I feel that it doesn't happen too often. Who knows though, but one should never judge appearances. The person crossing or sitting next to you just might be an angel in disguise or something totally different.

I've read many many books on the after life, the spiritual life, reincarnation and so forth. I've not seen anything that suggests there's really such a thing as a 'celebrity' soul. A well known historical figure, in other words a historical celebrity, is just the same as any other being. One life of fame and notable deeds doesn't guarantee another. It depends on the progression of that soul, the lessons to be learned, the karma to offset, and the relationships previous forged and how they evolve in that relationship circle moving forward.

No one truly knows the ins and outs, how it works on a multi-dimensional level, how subsequent lifetimes even slot together (are they sequential or simultaneous). Along the lines of what Phoenix said: an intellectual giant in one life may be a shoe-shiner on a street corner in Mogadishu in the next. A king may return as a lowly subject. But every single soul and every single case is unique, and I would guess the lives we 'choose' are the lives that give us the most useful lessons in our continuing development.

That said, I am aware that there are 'cadences' of energy that we adhere to or gravitate towards from life to life. In other words, what most interests us (on a soul level) stays with us - why wouldn't it. A soul interested in animals, or literature, or medicine, or how things work and so forth will always have those things in them. For example, Archimedes would continue to be an innovator, or at least have that desire. Freddie Mercury will want to express music in his next life no matter what, because it is in his soul. Abe Lincoln likewise will probably be interested in the ordering of things, so would gravitate towards a life of public service wherever he incarnates. Would any of them live a life of renown again, or die unsung? That's another story and impossible to know.

There's still of course something to be said for those highly advanced/experienced souls. Sirus mentioned Jordan Peterson. I think he is truly gifted for the wisdom and insight he communicates. His skill and erudition he has earned and accumulated in this life. But the content is something different. It is said all things are already known, and new knowledge is simply knowledge re-discovered. I believe he is tapping into fundamental truths that we already well aware of, which is why his talks strike such a chord within us. They resonate at the soul level. Only special beings can do that. So it if was true that Peterson was in fact the actual return of someone like Socrates or Plato, I wouldn't be the least surprised.

Sometimes I have the "silly" thought that what if he was Nietzsche because of his obsession with him, but it doesn't really matter. I'm fairly certain that he has had lives in Russia before though, his home is covered with Soviet art. His soul also carries a certain kind of darkness from the past, but his passion in this life has been to help others. I feel that that kind of empathy and compassion has only developed through immense suffering and one has also witnessed the intense suffering of others. Sadly even right now he has been barely recovering from his health issues, but thankfully he is doing better now. That's just one of many "great" souls on this plane of existence. I believe what truly makes someone great like Mahatma Gandhi is their willingness to help others, compassion is a very beautiful quality in a human being. We desperately need more of it if we wish to continue our peaceful co-existence here on Earth for centuries to come.

Sometimes I have the "silly" thought that what if he was Nietzsche because of his obsession with him, but it doesn't really matter.
Not silly at all. The soviet connection is indeed strong with him, and I do suspect it's from prior experience. Another good candidate for him is Dostoyevsky, whom himself was a philosophical role model to Nietzsche. I've read a couple of his works, Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov. Wasn't so keen on his polyphonic style, the literature is quite dense, but when unravelled contain a great deal of insight into the complexities of the human condition. Incidentally Dostoyevsky experienced Siberian exile during his youth, and that's a theme that resonates strongly with Peterson, given that his lectures contain numerous references to The Gulag Archipelago.

I've speculated for a while that Oscar Wilde > Stephen Fry. They seem to have an awful lot in common. Wit, intelligence, erudition, creativity, iconoclasm, sexuality, and indeed facial features. The list goes on.

Stephen Fry even played Wilde in the critically acclaimed film.
