Default The ORIGINS of GOVERNMENT WORKERS

This short post is dedicated to those who, like myself, have had to stand in long lines only to confront a mindless waste of time - such as the clerks at the Drivers License office.

I was reading through some translations of the epic poetry from ancient Sumeria, and ran across the part where Enki is creating humanity, with the help of his mother and another goddess. Some of the earlier attempts were not very successful, and he tells us:

In Enki and Ninma (c.1.1.2), paragraph (line(s) 66-68):

"The Third, she fashioned one with both feet broken, one with paralysed feet."

Enki looked at the one with both feet broken, the one with paralysed feet and put him for the work of the jewelry making and the silversmith. Which sort of makes sense, if he can't walk - use him in a sit-down type job. Humane, actually.

"She fashioned one, a third one, born as an idiot".

Enki looked at this one, the one born as an idiot, and decreed his fate: he appointed him as a servant of the king.

And so if one of their creations was born without a brain, you put him to work in the government, as a servant to the king or president.

Makes sense why we can't solve many of our present problems now, doesn't it?
