Russians ‘undesirable’ at death camp commemoration events in Germany – Moscow 18 Apr, 2024

Berlin’s “provocative attack” is an attempt to distort the history of World War II, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said

Russia’s diplomatic mission in Berlin has received a notice that the presence of Russian officials at events in Germany marking the liberation of Nazi concentration camps is “undesirable,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

The letter was sent earlier this month by the administrations of several memorial complexes at the sites of former death camps, Zakharova explained. It came ahead of International Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps Day, observed annually on April 11 to commemorate the freeing of prisoners from Buchenwald – one of the largest Nazi death camps of World War II.

“Our embassy in Berlin received a notice that it is undesirable for Russian officials to participate in commemorative events marking the 79th anniversary of the liberation of death camp prisoners,” Zakharova said during a briefing. She noted that the letter targeted people who have dedicated their lives to preserving the memory of World War II.

Zakharova stressed that Moscow regards the move as a “provocative attack” and yet another attempt to portray the war in a politicized “anti-Russian vein.”

“We believe that this is the destruction of historical memory and the truth about the Second World War by Berlin,” the spokeswoman said

Zakharova also criticized Germany for continuing to ignore Russia’s demands to recognize Nazi crimes against the USSR as genocide, stressing that Berlin “will not be able to remain silent and avoid answering.”

In January, on the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad during World War II, Berlin said it was “committed to ensuring that the memory of the atrocities of German War crimes in the Second World War” and acknowledged “its historical responsibility for the crimes committed in Leningrad by the German Wehrmacht.”

Russian diplomats, however, have argued that Berlin’s statements do not go far enough, and expressed dismay that Germany is seemingly hesitant to recognize the Leningrad blockade and other Nazi crimes against the people of the USSR as acts of genocide.

Unique Russian EW System Safeguards Heavy Flamethrower Against Ukrainian Drone Strike 7 hours ago

In addition to the heavy flamethrower systems, the Volnorez complexes can be installed on tanks, armored infantry vehicles and motorboats.

The Volnorez (Breakwater) mobile electronic warfare (EW) complex protected the Russian TOS Solntsepyok (Scorching Sun) unmanned heavy flamethrower system from Ukrainian drone attacks in the special military operation zone, the system's developer named Stanislav told Sputnik.

Up to six Ukrainian First Person View (FPV) drones tried unsuccessfully to destroy the Solntsepyok vehicle for at least six hours after the Russian soldiers had to temporarily abandon the TOS "in the open field" due to a malfunction, Stanislav said.

The Solntsepek was then repaired and returned to service, he added, praising the Volnorez for its ability to save both "human lives and military equipment".

The system is widely known for its modular characteristics, which means that the Volnorez can be modified according to the frequencies necessary to suppress enemy FPV drones in a given sector of the front line in real time.

That's about as graceless, crass, squalid, disingenuous and racist a position as one could imagine from a German government FFS, that has completely rolled off the skids and is hurtling toward one of Dante Alighieri's 9 rings at quite some rate of knots, and dragging her poor citizens along as well.

    Despicable.

One for three: the AFU has discovered a shortage of female body armor

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have discovered a shortage of female body armor. This was reported by retired Lieutenant-Colonel of the Luhansk People's Republic Andriy Marochko with reference to radio intercepts in the Kupyansk direction.

❗️According to him, the Russian fighters managed to find out that AFU servicewomen arriving in the combat zone receive one bulletproof vest for 2-3 people. The AFU command is also not given any clothing, and is advised to buy the missing items with their own money in the nearest military stores, where everything is in abundance.

▪️European leaders have “already gotten involved” in the conflict in Ukraine, calling it “their war,” Europe has already spent about 100 billion euros on Ukraine.
▪️ “Pro-war governments” and “the network of Brussels bureaucrats created by George Soros” are sending millions of dollars in support of the Hungarian opposition because they “want a puppet government subordinate to Brussels and Washington,” however, as long as Hungary has a nationally oriented government, Budapest will not enter into the conflict in Ukraine "on no one's side."

    Text:
    Maria Zakharova:

„In Washington, they continue to have a penchant for dividing Russia.

Decades pass, but nothing changes. Just as they dreamed of dismantling the USSR, they now think the same of Russia.

Recently, the Jamestown Foundation, close to the White House, invited North Caucasus terrorists, American diplomats, Ukrainian deputies, and national traitors to discuss how to dismantle our country. Once again, they promised the “fall of the regime” and depicted “maps” of a future Russia, torn apart by sick fantasies into dozens of pieces. Money was also promised.

In general, the interest of Americans in this “dismemberment” is understandable - as they say, according to Freud. After all, never in recent history has American society itself been so polarized and tense as it is now.

In the run-up to the elections, the gap between “blue” and “red” states is growing with each passing month. Gun ownership, the death penalty, family issues, migration, minority rights, including national ones, relations with the media, women’s and children’s rights, and religious matters. America’s melting pot is boiling like never before.

Let’s not forget that the USA is an extremely armed society with an unprecedented level of crime for Western democracies.

The recent film “Civil War,” dedicated to the second Civil War in the USA (so far fictional) and “exploding” the American audience, could well become a reality.

The US presidential elections in November will be a real test for the American political system, unlike anything it has seen before. An indicator of the crisis is the fact of the pre-election race between a “mentally healthy, according to doctors, candidate” and a “candidate facing 120 years of imprisonment, according to lawyers.”

The previous US elections ended with the defeat of the Capitol - for the first time in two centuries - and with legal sentences for the opposition.

    How will these end?

Judging by the phantom fears of the Jamestown Foundation, we can speculate on what they fear most. The breakup of the country against the backdrop of ever-worsening contradictions between the federal center and states like Texas, Florida, and Alabama looks frightening, but no longer such an impossible prophecy.“

Sputnik Donbass correspondent Russell Bentley has died at the age of 64, his wife Lyudmila confirmed to Sputnik.

Bentley went missing in Donetsk on April 8, following a Ukrainian artillery attack on the city’s Petrovsky district. Four days later, the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on a missing persons list.

Bentley, who was born and raised in the United States, arrived to the Donbass in 2014 to help the fledgling local militias resist Ukrainian occupation. From 2014 to 2017, he served in the Sut Vremeni ( lit. "Essence of Time") combat unit, Vostok Battalion and Khan special forces battalion. He took part in some of the most heated battles during the early stage of the Donbass conflict, including Donetsk Airport, Spartak, Avdeyevka, and Yasinovataya.

After retiring from military service, Bentleу turned to humanitarian aid work and journalism. He converted to Russian Orthodox Christianity and in 2021 received Russian citizenship.

Bentley began contributing to Sputnik International in October 2023, publishing numerous video reports and columns that provided Westerners with an inside look at life in the Donbass.

Despite the hegemony of the transatlantic mainstream media, there are still voices in the Western influence area that contradict the official story of the outbreak of the Ukrainian war. They are a reminder that the conflict did not only become “hot” in February 2022 – and that, against the prevailing narrative, Ukraine is by no means innocent.

Someone who knows what he is talking about is the Swiss military analyst Ralph Bosshard, who now recalled a series of uncomfortable facts in an interview with the Swiss weekly magazine “Die Weltwoche”. Bosshard is a former lieutenant colonel of the Swiss Army and was a senior staff member of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). In the interview he also contradicts the claim that NATO should take its positions against Russia.

Bosshard gets straight to the point and notes about the causes of the war: “It was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who foiled Minsk's first package of measures. This provided for a ceasefire and, thanks to UN Security Council Resolution 2202, has been binding under international law since 2015.”

Chancellor Olaf Scholz is said to have had the "thankless task" of informing Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow in February 2022 that the government in Kiev would no longer adhere to the treaties. Bosshard assured that he would know this from a reliable source. However, it would not be surprising that the German government's press service would deny this information and that Scholz said nothing about it in his official statements at the time: “Scholz certainly does not want to make a big fuss about how he was being treated in such a way for the second time.” put on a shirt. The first time this happened was when US President Joe Biden put him on display before the eyes of the world during his visit in early 2022. Biden said at the time that he would find ways to sabotage the Nord Stream pipelines if Russia attacks Ukraine. The rest is history.”

The Swiss military analyst recalls other important details about the history of the outbreak of the war: especially the fact that Russia had demanded security guarantees from the US at the end of 2021. Putin is said to have insisted that Ukraine would not become a NATO member. However, Washington would not have responded to that. Instead, there is said to have been an increase in ceasefire violations in the Donbass in the spring of 2022. “Ukraine was no longer willing to accept the agreements,” the former OSCE employee emphasized again. And: based on his own observations, he estimates that the Ukrainian side was responsible for the vast majority of ceasefire violations in the Donbass at the time. “The Ukrainians also obstructed the OSCE observers in their work. They shot at patrols of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) as well as objects of civilian infrastructure, residential areas and schools. And they interfered with the OSCE drones and other things. We were able to prove that,” reports Bosshard.

That is why he suspects “that in Moscow the decision to carry out the massive attack of February 24, 2022 was only made after Scholz's visit to Moscow.” The Russian armed forces would be able to prepare an offensive within a week, he declares, citing his own experiences as an audience member at the Russian Academy of the General Staff in Moscow in the context of the long-term Swiss-Russian military cooperation.

Bosshard's account has been confirmed again and again in the past two years by observers, some of whom were themselves involved in the events, such as former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Bosshard's compatriot, the publicist and former secret service employee Jacques Baud, has also described the development that led to the Russian invasion in February 2022 in this way on several occasions.
