I've got about 100 domain names, some for free and all under $10 each.

Almost no one knows about this... comparatively. The auctions are a blast!!!

Thanks for that, very good find!
I have namecoin decentralized domains for years now, it is dirty cheap but it allows only .bit domains for example "yourname.bit"
problem is: the only way someone can access the dot bit domains is using a DNS installed locally or a browser plugin which in my opinion keep the majority of people away from even trying it.

I will try to use namebase will report back here with my experience, like to test the new techies.

Yes it's very exciting! I am on the site now and winning many names, at least half for free. If you are the only bidder, you get the domain name for free.

I have recently won these domain names: famouspoems, facereading, supertaster, recipefinder, rebounders, artmuseums,
goldrate, financialcrash. Most of the one word domains are taken but the two word names are not.

Sure. So far here is my strategy...
I try to schedule the domain names I put up for bid for times that less people are online. It looks like most bidders so far are in the USA. So I set the bids when people in USA are sleeping.
I try to choose some of the names that people will not recognize as a good name. For example instead of bidding on WestinDubai, I put up TheDylan
which is a large hotel, without the name hotel in it, to tip people off that it is already a brand name.

How do you set up the bids? You manually do it or use a bot? Do you bid really low or with a big blind?

    I manually enter each bid.

Depending on the name, sometimes I bid with a blind and sometimes not.

Since I have a lot of time on my hands, I am bidding for quantity, so I usually put up from 10-30 words at a time for auction.

So mostly I bid very low, the minimum. 0.4 HNS, unless it is a word I really want. Then sometimes I bid up to 30 HNS to try and scare people away from bidding.

What I find is that timing is everything. Sometimes there are people with lots of HNS online who bid everything up and I win no names. At other times only a few of us are bidding and I get a lot of names for free.

By the way, I bid too low on my own personal name and someone else bid higher and won me!! So if you bid on your name bid at least 30 HNS.

Thx. But what i dont get it how timing can be everything when there are 5 days of bidding time? Seems to me then that it doesnt matter at what time you do the first bid as there are 5 more days for others to bid. Or does this has to do with at which time a bid comes online? When a bid comes online it will be at page 1 or something and after that it moves to the back so people dont notice the bids anymore?

When I put up a name for auction, I factor in the 5 days it takes to close. I time it to close when hopefully there will be less people around to bid, so I can win it for cheap. Like 3am, for example.

The Handshake protocol is a decentralized system to reroute web traffic and provide true ownership over websites and domain names. It works by creating an alternative to the internet’s naming convention, the Domain Name System (DNS).
No need to follow anyone, only consider broadening (y)our horizon of possibilities ...

Hi, can anyone confirm if this is the correct place to download the handshake wallet? With so many scams on internet, better ask someone involved on it.

    https://handshake.org/

I am considering buying some HNS to bid in some TLDs, but I do not want verify my account with my personal data, since they give an option to transfer from a wallet, I can find someone to buy directly and then transfer to the Namebase wallet.

    Thanks.

Yes, Palehorse. I believe that many people use the Bob wallet and that is where they get it from.
I haven't, so let me know how it goes for you.

Then Bob wallet will be, I will read more about sync the blockchain, I do not want to download the entire thing, I already got namecoin and monero here and they took lots of space (and still growing in size) in my disk, bitcoin took over 170GB and it was 2018 when I decided to delete the entire thing from my computer, using electrum wallet since then instead of bitcoin core. As I am not a miner there is no need to have the entire blockchains downloaded.

Thanks, I will write back as soon I get it working.

I tried last night and today again, but no success, Bob Wallet won't install on Manjaro Linux, it fails compilation returns loads of errors and warnings, the wallet require node installed, an it accuses I have a wrong version of it, but I can't just change my version to satisfy Bob wallet, because I have other software running on this version and it won't run o newer versions of node, well I did read their issue section on github but not many useful entries, I guess I will keep it aside for now and when they release some sort of binaries for Linux (AppImage) that really install and work then I will test it for sure. It is not laziness from my part, but really no time to debug software now, it would take long time to understand why it is not installing on my specific system, since other Linux users got it installed (Ubuntu users). Too many unnecessary dependencies nowadays, it should be all self contained libraries, hence no libraries dependencies on the OS in order to work with every system.

How are you guys doing on HNS? I have just sold my first domain name for 1000 HNS. It was the name waterfilters. I mainly have dutch domain names and this one is English. I got an offer of 288 HNS and countered with 1000 HNS and they took it. Pretty cool.
