Default Crush at Israeli religious festival kills 44

At least 44 people were crushed to death at an over-crowded religious bonfire festival in Israel on Friday, medics said, in what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as a "heavy disaster".

The crush occurred as tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews thronged to the Galilee tomb of 2nd-century sage Rabbi Shim Bar Yochai for annual Lag B'Omer commemorations that include all-night prayer, mystical songs and dance.

Witnesses said people were asphyxiated or trampled in a tightly packed passageway, some going unnoticed until the PA system sounded an appeal to disperse, as crowds packed the Mount Meron slope in defiance of COVID-19 warnings.

Helicopters ferried injured people to hospitals and the military said search-and-rescue troops were scrambled.

Medics said 103 people had been injured in what they described as a stampede. Casualties included children, witnesses said. The site is mostly gender-segregated and bystander video suggested the crush took place at one of the men's sections.

"We were going to go inside for the dancing and stuff and all of a sudden we saw paramedics from (ambulance service) MDA running by, like mid-CPR on kids," Shlomo Katz, 36, told Reuters. He then saw ambulances come out "one after the other".

An awful death. Anyone that's been trapped in a large crowd packed into too tight a space will have some inkling of just how helpless one can be rendered. I feel great sympathy, not only for the victims, but also those that survived this terrible event, they will surely carry awful memories and perhaps injuries with them for the rest of their lives. RIP to those that lost their lives.

On such a grim story it may seem best to leave it there, but given the times we live in and the repeated signs that elements of TPTB engage in ritual sacrifice, it would be remiss not to make note of some aspects of this which may be relevant to anyone trying to understand this event. Nothing definitive is to be found in what follows, we cannot eliminate simple human error and Occam's razor could lead us to that conclusion, nevertheless:

    Timing.

We are in the 'killing season', the time between April 19th and the festival of Beltane on May 1st. Fire deaths are particularly favoured and there's been a spate of terrible fires recently that have claimed many lives. Note in this instance the association with bonfires. 'The most well-known custom of Lag BaOmer is the lighting of bonfires throughout Israel and worldwide wherever religious Jews can be found '

In the Jewish calendar this is the 33rd day of the year.

    Kabbalistic significance
Lag BaOmer has another significance based on the Kabbalistic custom of assigning a Sefirah to each day and week of the Omer count. The first week corresponds to Chesed, the second week to Gevurah, etc., and similarly, the first day of each week corresponds to Chesed, the second day to Gevurah, etc. Thus, the 33rd day, which is the fifth day of the fifth week, corresponds to Hod she-be-Hod (Splendor within [the week of] Splendor). As such, Lag BaOmer represents the level of spiritual manifestation or Hod that would precede the more physical manifestation of the 49th day (Malkhut she-be-Malkhut, Kingship within [the week of] Kingship), which immediately precedes the holiday of Shavuot.[citation needed]

    Number of deaths:

    Reported as 'At least 44'
    https://thephoenixenigma.com/the-number-44/
Many associations there, but this 'The Tower of Lights memorial are constructed of two batteries of 44 bulbs each and shown for exactly 33 days after the towers fell.' gives a linkage to 33 and 9/11

103 are given as injured. In Gematria the zero is removed which gives the 13 signal of rebellion.

It's interesting to look at the development of the Lag BaOmer festival also:

Quote In modern Israel, early Zionists redefined Lag BaOmer from a rabbinic-oriented celebration to a commemoration of the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire (132–136 CE). According to work published by Yael Zerubavel of Rutgers University, a number of Lag BaOmer traditions were reinterpreted by Zionist ideologues to focus on the victory of the Bar Kokhba rebels rather than their ultimate defeat at Betar three years later.
There's a lot more at the wiki page if anyone wants to delve further. I think it's perhaps of interest that these people were celebrating a rare victory against the forces of Rome, some allege that TPTB see themselves as the heirs to the Roman Empire.

It seems to me that in these big religious congregations there is always small number of people at the edge of passing to their Lord and more of those waiting to lose it.
How unfortunate that those who were ready to go did not pass but it was “some other people”.

Here in India this happened many times, hundreds of people died in stampedes at temple sights and places of pilgrimage.

It’s always sad news and difficult to understand.

So this is a thing that happens. A "crush"
As if a kind of normalcy comes about by having a word assigned to the event. Jury's still out for me on this one.

Fanatism and crowd always end up bad, i feel sorry for the people, but it seems they never learn, it happen hundreds of times in many countries and still happening, could be easily avoided, but anyway who am I to judge their faith.

    RIP
