    Default Happy Mother's Day

you are flesh of my flesh
    you came from me
    yet walk separately from me
how is it then that wherever you go
you take a piece of me with you
    and a connection and bond
    no earthly power
    can pierce
    much less sever?

    (May 11, 2012)

a mother is the central force of influence in the external environment we all have faced. through her eyes do our first lessons come and we learn to perceive the world around us as loving and safe or fearful and dangerous. when her love covers and protects us, we are able to blossom and grow strong secure in her love. when it is not so we see the product of such neglect produce broken hearts and broken spirits that a thousand others are unable to heal for none of whatever magnitude or number can equal that which is sought .. which is needed from a mother ..

in my life i have been blessed to have found many such 'mothers' whose love and care for me have sustained me through turbulent waters ... in the comfort and security of their love have i felt safe to blossom and evolve and i owe each and every one of them a debt of gratitude for their part in shaping me into the woman i have become.

as i owe my sons as well, for through them i learned the most valuable lesson of all, that i could love unconditionally and without limit or end. before they came along, i never imagined that each precious hair and smile and eye movement would matter so much to me that i would be willing to march alone to protect them from anything and anyone ...

Happy Mother's Day to all women here whose hearts have been captured by the beings they have lovingly brought to our planet.

I acknowledge and honor you today, yours is the first love we've all experienced, your tenderness and gentleness resides within us and gave us our first earthly glimpse of the Divine...

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!

I was a total Mama's boy as a kid. I would follow my Mom around the house, never letting her out of my site. And if she had to use the bathroom, I'd slump down next to the door and start weeping till she came out again

She never missed a chance to hug me and tell me she loves me, and she's the same now. And I still wound up a neurotic mess lol! I sometimes imagine if she hadn't been there to share all her love and attention with me...boy I'd be in real trouble. A mother is the most influential figure in most people's lives. A sacred role. Lots of love to all the mother's out there!

I'd like to acknowledge the women, like myself, who have never given birth to a child, but who have nurtured many over a lifetime. Using a generous heart, compassion, intuition and a desire to love, we have given when we could and may never know how much we have helped! That is my belief and my hope. 😍 Diane

as far as i know, of my incarnations as a woman, it is the first time time i am a mother

once i was like "mother" to a country ...

nor was i mother in the next ..

but i came back on to say,

    Diane

    you beat me to it!

i mentioned but was not clear the women in my life who did NOT give birth to me?

left indelible imprints in my heart and on my life

without their "mothering" ~ nurturing, kindness, compassion and love?

i could never have survived ....

    you are "unsung" heroes

you may not have the formal "blood" title, but you have our hearts and ever lasting gratitude ....

i'm certain many others feel the same.

    Mike!

    thank you!!

it reminded me of when Joshie was little ... as i mentioned, it is my first time being a mother ... and i don't plan on ever coming back, so i was REALLY trying to "get it right"

and i was room mother and chaperone on all field trips etc ...

this came in handy later when my sons were older, because i KNEW ALL their friends ... very, very well .. you know ... (big grin)

even for the last birthday he had here in our state, it was a surprise party i was able to pull off because i knew them all personally since they were little!

    but i digress,

so this first field trip to Sea World that Joshie was just 9 or 10 or so and we are walking along ... i'm in heaven because my baby is happily holding my hand and doesn't care who sees him

when another little boy (Chance) comes along and with a grin on his face, asks Josh:

    "are you a mama's boy?"

i'm pretty sure i held my breath to see what was coming next

    he goes on to say:

"cus I AM! ... i LOVE my mama!! i'm going to ask her to come with me next time too!"

man ... i could have kissed that little boy ... who remained his friend til the end and was at said surprise party that would end up being the last they'd see him ...

as mothers? though we love ALL our children equally?? perhaps a little "different" kind of love goes to the one whose heart (and hands) tugs at us a bit more

he continued that hand holding in public at malls etc right up to then end too ...

precious soul i adore with the totality of my being ..

    Happy Belated Mother's Day
I just discovered this very funny Facebook channel created by Laura Clery
Here is her submission for Mother's Day:
(I still don't know how to embed FB videos, so one of the Mods will do it, hopefully. But if you click on the link, it should work.)

This one's just for Moms of toddlers:

    Mod note from Bill:
Tried and failed... I'm afraid we often can't embed FB videos unless we find them elsewhere. Laura Clery's YouTube channel is here, and it might be uploaded there quite soon.
