    Default 'Covid excuses'

I've got a lot of Covid-related topics/ideas to discuss going forward, but I may as well start with this one.

I'm sure most if not all here have experienced the 'Covid excuses'
used by government departments, businesses, individuals etc. over the past year.

OK maybe for the first few months they could be let off the hook.
But now more than a year into the pandemic how can they be short-staffed, stretched to the limit, not be able to handle the 'deluge of calls' they used to be able to handle prior to 2020, and just overall come back at you with "Well you know with Covid-19 and all, it's difficult to provide you with the services you used to get. Sorry but please be patient. We're all in this together."

    Why are government departments closed/short-staffed?
Can they not safely close themselves in a room and talk to people on the telephone?
    Ditto businesses.

Generally speaking I'm finding all of these entities falling back on Covid excuses to cover any short-comings in their practices.

How many more months/years will we hear about their Covid excuses?

In the UK the press/government have been pushing the 'Indian variant' as the next excuse. Guess what? The British variant is the brave new excuse in other countries

As we know a British anything is really going to ruin your day, especially an invisible one. Tongue in cheek, at least this virus says 'Sorry!' and can be cured with a nice cup of tea.

I too have noticed some businesses and chain restaurants have turned the covid scam to their advantage, a convenient excuse to provide less service.
