COVID Vaccine Hesitancy and Risk of a Traffic Crash

Abstract

Background
Coronavirus disease (COVID) vaccine hesitancy is a reflection of psychology that might also contribute to traffic safety. We tested whether COVID vaccination was associated with the risks of a traffic crash.

Methods
We conducted a population-based longitudinal cohort analysis of adults and determined COVID vaccination status through linkages to individual electronic medical records. Traffic crashes requiring emergency medical care were subsequently identified by multicenter outcome ascertainment of all hospitals in the region over a 1-month follow-up interval (178 separate centers).
Results
A total of 11,270,763 individuals were included, of whom 16% had not received a COVID vaccine and 84% had received a COVID vaccine. The cohort accounted for 6682 traffic crashes during follow-up. Unvaccinated individuals accounted for 1682 traffic crashes (25%), equal to a 72% increased relative risk compared with those vaccinated (95% confidence interval, 63-82; P < 0.001). The increased traffic risks among unvaccinated individuals extended to diverse subgroups, was similar to the relative risk associated with sleep apnea, and was equal to a 48% increase after adjustment for age, sex, home location, socioeconomic status, and medical diagnoses (95% confidence interval, 40-57; P < 0.001). The increased risks extended across the spectrum of crash severity, appeared similar for Pfizer, Moderna, or other vaccines, and were validated in supplementary analyses of crossover cases, propensity scores, and additional controls.

Conclusions
These data suggest that COVID vaccine hesitancy is associated with significant increased risks of a traffic crash. An awareness of these risks might help to encourage more COVID vaccination.

I can't believe any one would do such a study. It gets more rediculous by the day. Nobody knows how many vaxxed or unvaxxed people were driving in a certain area where the accidents happened or what caused them. Maybe there are many vaxxed that can no longer drive or they more likely use public transport, so the ratio of drivers in the beginning would need to be known to make such a claim or it means nothing. I Suppose the vax will be necessary for driving safety reasons to renew your licence.

The agenda is still hot for them and they're still pushing it. The narrative is collapsing on one hand, and we've never seen so many people see through civilisation's lies on the other. As DNA pointed out in another thread their mother of all distractions is a global war. Supply shortages would achieve the same, and with a global war supply shortages are the default anyway. But while global war hasn't escalated in the hearts and minds of people like the state would like, the narrative crumbling doesn't seem to have affected whole industry sectors, like medical and government; they are still clinging to the lie. It's a surreal situation.

The main problem is its moral compass but the entire thing is based on a data error.

It claims a link between "vaccine hesitancy" and "risky driving."

because of "a distrust of government or belief in freedom that contributes to both vaccination preferences and increased traffic risks"

It goes on...

"A different explanation might be misconceptions of everyday risks, faith in natural protection, antipathy toward regulation, chronic poverty, exposure to misinformation, insufficient resources, or other personal beliefs."

These claims are based on accidents which resulted in hospitalisation.

Each person injured is referred to in the paper as a "crash" - even when the injured person was a pedestrian!

"Results show substantial incidence of serious traffic crashes that is increased for those who are not vaccinated relative to those who are vaccinated."

There is a fundamental error in how they reached that conclusion.

They used two sets of data:

1. the numbers of people presenting to hospital after a traffic accident
2. The number of people in the government vaccination database

Nowhere do they talk about people who are not in the system.

Someone not in the government Vx data could still be in an accident. They would still go to hospital if injured. Only then would they be added to the government data.

All those people who are not in the system and remained healthy are not counted.

Accidents in Vx are measured as a proportion of those Vx.

Accidents in the UVx are measured as a proportion of those UVx and in the system.

This table shows the problem clearly.

No matter which way you chop the data the risk is apparently increased by about the same amount.

The vertical line at point 1 should be picked up and lifted across to where all the dots are.



You still see an increased risk for people with dementia who were not vaccinated (and highly likely to have been pedestrians).

You also see a lower risk for the old, those with diseases of the old and those who had covid.

Using their same methodology you could estimate that the unvaccinated had a higher rate of anything:

- giving to charity
- recycling
- buying the most christmas presents

whatever you want when the levels are actually the same - because the denominator is artificially small.

The point is probably best made by the number of people they claim to have in the database:
11,270,763

not 11,300,000

it was exactly 11,270,763

It is not possible to measure the size of a city that accurately.

Their conclusion is worth sharing too

"These data suggest that COVID vaccine hesitancy is associated with significant increased risks of a traffic crash. An awareness of these risks might help to encourage more COVID vaccination."

More than a year after I started this thread, let's review the check list made by the vax propagandist and see how they are making out now that they took the jab:


I'm vaccinated, not to please the government but:
* To not die from Covid-19.
* To NOT clutter a hospital bed if I get sick.
* To hug my loved ones
* To Not have to do PCR or antigenic tests to go out dancing, go to a restaurant, go on holidays and many more things yet to come
* To live my life
* To have my kids/grandkids go back to school and play sports.
* For Covid-19 to be an old memory.
* To protect us.

Hmmmm... not doing too well are we with those jabs?
