Default Amazon - Is this a joke?

So, if you go to Amazon.com, and scroll to the bottom (black) section, and then click on "Amazon Web Service" in the right column...

and then look for AWS Service Terms, which brings you to this page:
    https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms/

and on that page, scroll down to service term 42.10, you will see this listed:

"42.10. Acceptable Use; Safety-Critical Systems. Your use of the Lumberyard Materials must comply with the AWS Acceptable Use Policy. The Lumberyard Materials are not intended for use with life-critical or safety-critical systems, such as use in operation of medical equipment, automated transportation systems, autonomous vehicles, aircraft or air traffic control, nuclear facilities, manned spacecraft, or military use in connection with live combat. However, this restriction will not apply in the event of the occurrence (certified by the United States Centers for Disease Control or successor body) of a widespread viral infection transmitted via bites or contact with bodily fluids that causes human corpses to reanimate and seek to consume living human flesh, blood, brain or nerve tissue and is likely to result in the fall of organized civilization."

Well, it's also in the December 16, 2019 version of the AWS Service Terms. My guess is that Covid-19 wasn't too well understood (to the Terms reviewers) back then, and thus the phrase was jokingly added within an uninformed perspective. Then, the text was simply forgotten about. Oops.

Or, it could be a hidden message ...

Well, back in mid-December 2019, what is now called covid-19 was totally unknown in the west.

(It only started to be reported in mid-January 2020...)

I think the last sentence is indeed a joke inserted into legal jargon. From a legal standpoint, it is pretty meaningless.

To make sense of this, I first had to ask, WTF is "Amazon Lumberyard"? From a simple search:

Quote Amazon Lumberyard is a game engine with no royalties or seat fees, frictionless integration with Twitch and AWS, plus much more on the horizon.
I guess that means it is some type of software that games can be adapted/programmed from. I think the second sentence that begins "Lumberyard Materials are not intended for use with life-critical or safety-critical systems" just means that the Lumberyard engine shouldn't be used with serious critical software applications (e.g. software that monitors medical equipment); this is just a liability disclaimer on the part of Amazon.

I think the third sentence is a reference to the Zombie Apocalypse, a common theme in gaming. It's saying if the game application depicts medical equipment (at the virtual level) you are okay.

    Or, as Alecs stated above:

I’m curious how you came across that strange tidbit. Can you share? Few people take the time to read the terms of service.

PS. Yes, it is a joke. A prank.

I sometimes browse Miles Mathis' discussion group's posts where I sometimes find some thought-provoking intelligent posters chewing over tid-bits.

Occam's razor suggests a joke. However, lawyers are not known for making jokes within legal documents which set out terms of service. For that matter, alphabet agencies such as FDA are not known for humour, but they have a zombie apocalypse section on their site, for training purposes naturally.

If one were of a conspiratorial mind it would be interesting to think of the explosion of zombie movies and tv shows over the past few years. The zombie movie used to be very niche, low budget George Romero efforts that were the preserve of teens and genre fans. Nowadays they're high budget Hollywood A list material. Brad Pitt, Arnonld Schwarzenegger and others have done zombie flicks. The idea of zombies has been heavily seeded into our culture. It's in the mainstream, in novels, magazines, teen and adult movies. There's been zombie comedy's, even a zombie romance film. Then there's AMC's 'The Walking Dead' which has enjoyed massive success and a very big marketing push also. It's just launching it's 'final season'. Obviously there were many rip-off's such as #Z Nation' also.

Maybe this happens organically, or perhaps as many argue the zombie is a reflection of issues within our society. Perhaps there's PHD's available for that line of enquiry. It's interesting though that even straight laced lawyers or federal bodies charged with fighting infectious diseases are getting in on the zombie action. Particularly if you start putting together the potential predictive programming of 'I am Legend' and other works, the global imposition of 5G and the question marks over it's potential impact on human health and the looming questions over what could be in the vaccines which have been so heavily pushed.

This clip from 1995 manages to link several of these ideas and in the current climate it begins to feel uncomfortably prescient.

As above, the Amazon t&c is more than likely a joke, but in the current climate not a good one.

When people are pumped up with enough graphene oxide or what ever the hell is in the injections - after endless boosters... perhaps they can be 'brought back from the dead...'...

It's distressing what experiments 'science' is allowed to perform on animals and there is no reason to think that they wouldn't experiment on embryos and humans as well in secrecy.. it truly is the stuff of nightmares the depth of evil they would almost certainly go to ...

This thread has prompted me to think that yes... they probably experiment with reanimating and controlling a dead person....

They probably try to do it with animals as well...

Being killed is one thing - but not being allowed to die..... ever...... is a whole new ball game....

(in the physical body while controlled by psychopaths)

I'm spooking myself out now... .... but this is the first time I've thought about the evil scientists actually reanimating corpses... but of course they would - some of them are capable of anything I suspect..

even if the OP quote was supposed to be a 'joke'... it brings up a disturbing possibility...

I don't buy for a second that this is just a joke or a bit of corporate dark humor, nor do I think it is in reference to a video game. It gives a very specific set of circumstances that will nullify the restrictions of particular uses for "Lumberyard Materials".

Quote However, this restriction will not apply in the event of the occurrence (certified by the United States Centers for Disease Control or successor body) of a widespread viral infection transmitted via bites or contact with bodily fluids that causes human corpses to reanimate and seek to consume living human flesh, blood, brain or nerve tissue and is likely to result in the fall of organized civilization.
The conditions that nullify the restriction involves the CDC or successor body? It also involves the conditions of widespread viral infection transmitted by bites or bodily fluids(which could be aerosol contact). Those conditions seem eerily precise don't they? All we need is the reanimation. And we have worldwide governments that are absolutely crazed to get that friggin injection in everyone. And as many as possible.

We have a thread somewhere on the forum about 2021 predictions where I shared visions of hybrid zombies. I would love to laugh this off, but I can't. Once again, I hope I am wrong..

The whole "zombie" thought-form egg that has been insidiously implanted over the past 15 or so years is unsettling to me, if only because it gives a green flag for a horrible bloodlust rampage against any group that is perceived as "zombies".
And apparently, from the looks of things, perception has become fairly easy to manipulate.

Pam, I know you and I were both nurses who have learned that whatever we have once thought we knew is now to be seriously questioned.

I am just not able to imagine how this horrific turn of events would impact: "Amazon Lumberyard is a game engine with no royalties or seat fees, frictionless integration with Twitch and AWS, plus much more on the horizon."

I know my post sounds preposterous. At the same time 3 years ago, I would have told you the insanity we are now experiencing and the mass hypnosis was not a possibility. Amazon isn't some mom and pop store that might have made some typos or are playing a prank. I imagine nothing that is printed in there terms and conditions isn't scrutinized by a team of lawyers. All we really know about Lumber Yard materials is what they are telling us. Yes, it sounds very innocuous and I am definitely not a techie so my degree of understanding is challenged at best. What I do know is that we are living in a complete inversion so lies and deception are bread and butter of of the corporate and political arena.

Sue is correct we have been heavily programmed with the zombie genre in films and pop culture ad nauseum. I no longer believe that anything we are seeing from corporate, political, entertainment or pop culture is meaningless. I am just blown away how so many pieces of so many things that didn't make since have fallen into place. Once I began to understand and become aware of the mass programming campaign, I can see how really brilliant and all pervasive it is.

Several things that have made me very suspicious of a possibility like this are:

1- The injection, the ingredients and the insane push to get everyone to take them. Biden is now suggesting that it would be a good idea to get injection #3 six months after the first two. I read today that 1.15 million US citizens have taken the third. How many patents do they have for corona viruses, something like ten? There is definitely a plan for more.

2- The frantic effort to get 5G up and running everywhere, even when we were in lockdown situations. If we listened to MSM the benefits of 5G are to get us faster service, why would that be so essential in a supposed life and death pandemic? It doesn't make sense

3-The massive programming to get the concept of zombies in our consciousness. Whether they portray them as be scary or humorous there is a huge and consistent push to have them conceptualized in our consciousness. These people know how to manipulate consciousness at a metaphysical level and have done all they can to prevent us from understanding how to do this.

Honestly, I hope I can read this post in the future and blush at how embarrassed I am to have written it. I do understand that what I suggest sounds just plain goofy. Time will tell. The reality of that is ugly I really don't even like thinking about it. We are living in strange times, no doubt about it.

For what it’s worth, lawyers make all kinds of mistakes in documents in the age of “copy and paste” made possible by computer programs such as WORD.

Proofreading and editing are essential functions and it does seem that something of this nature would have been spotted and deleted before the document was finalized, unless it was intended to remain there.

So, in my view, this was either missed or overlooked in editing, or it was intended to remain there, or it was intentionally added. In any event, how and why was this language there in the first place? If it was cut and paste from another document, what was that document? If it was consciously added to the Terms of Service, why?

I favor the joke or prank hypothesis. But, ....

I was thinking about this as a prank and it seems that it would be in really poor taste for those that believe they lost a relative in a pandemic situation and Amazon is in the business of making money. Another thought though, maybe someone hid it in there as a sort of ridiculing statement about the power the CDC seems to have with the plandemic agenda. A sort of sarcasm towards the whole thing. That seems like a possibility. I like that thought much better than my other theory.

You would think lawyers would be absolute masters of language and articulation. I haven't really seen it when I had to deal with lawyers on a few occasions or even the ones that get media attention on big cases. Most of them seem to be average when dealing with the written and spoken word.

Where you might see excellence in language is insurance companies. They perfectly cover their bases.

I have to laugh at myself, I seem to vacillate from being over trusting to being extremely suspicious.. I do find it really weird that a joke would be thrown into a legal document of terms and conditions. Still doesn't make sense to me. Can you imagine buy a house and the legal work having something like that thrown in there. Logically, that would invalidate the whole document.

    Thanks Mashika!
But you know, perhaps Amazon may want to rethink its idea of "humor" in light of the events occurring worldwide since 2020.
